Greece was not impalied by Barbarian they were defeated by Anotalia and then eventually Greece would be control to Rome.
and a large part of Greece culture were absorbed into Roman culture which was called Greco-Romans which contributed to a lot of western cultures and ideas. If you study Western history or is a english major or even politic you would always start with Greece.
Greece was also a land of individualism and new ideas and freedom. it was the only civilization of its time to have these ideas
since you mentioned your so called "barbarians" which r the ppl of the frontier which are anglo-saxons which are today germans who did practice same-sex copulation
