Shinto was a semiancient Japanese belief that when you die, your chi is reincarnated into many different forms, depending on the good and bad deeds you did in your previous lives. If you lead good lives, then you will eventually be reincarnated into the diety level of the spirits.

You have no proof of the existence of a soul. A soul is not like the air you breathe....you breathe when you're alive because your body needs oxygen, and therefore to get oxygen, your lungs expand and air is drawn in through your esophagus and nasal cavities. You're dead when you stop breathing becasue since your dead, your various organs stop working, you stop taking in oxygen, and you therefore cannot live. It's not because of a "soul." You BELIEVE in the existence of a soul, but it's not fact, because it cannot be proven. It's merely your blind faith talking.
