you never installed your computer before ?
if that's the case... i suggest you go a technician or someone in your family that knows computer and has already REFORMATTED / REINSTALLED one.
doing this kind of thing by yourself when you never done it before is too hazardous for your computer.
not that it is difficult to accomplish, but experiementation is required or you're just gonna do lots of mistakes and ending with a NON-WORKING computer is not the best result either !
ASSHOIE: no need for formatting if that's the case, re-installing windows on the previous one, will result in keeping everything like it was and bring back the missing files !
EDIT:
question i forgot to ask you...
Q: when you get the error... what program is it saying have initiated the error ?
how to know that ?
when it gives you the eror, there is a MORE / DETAIL button in it... click it and a lot of info will be writen. look in the first line where it says "THIS PROGRAM "somthing" MADE AN INTERNAL ERROR"
if it is something like KERNEL32.DLL then you're up to formatting and reinstalling the whole computer !
why ?
because that's WINDOWS CORE !
basically, KERNEL32.DLL does 95% of the commands in WINDOWS including opening/closing things in windows !
