well, it's that time again... we DESPERATELY need a new web host to handle all of the load for the shockwave game (a 3 meg download)
if you, or someone u know has some space they want to offer (we dont need much, just 10 megs or so) and a #### lotta bandwidth (4+ gigs PER day) ... contact either me, or leftyfb (xvssf@cyberfuturism.com) i wont start with any predictions of doom (just yet) ... but the sooner someone can help out, the sooner we can all sleep @ night knowing that there won't be any interruptions in our free service... |
I'm getting a new comp for chirstmas and might be able to help...and if it comes down to it, maybe you should only let certain people that have been here like almost forever have a password to get in free and charge the rest of the public but only on doom day
|
and how would one go about choosing the vets, and so on? elitism sucks, warmor.
heres an idea... make it so you HAVE to register to play, and that registration lasts for lik 2 weeks, or more, maybe a month, but you dont get on the ranking charts...then, if you send in 5 bucks through paypal, or something, you get a verifacation code. these codes would have to be different, to prevent leaking. BETTER YET! just manualy accept members, and give them full time access. get a few people to help, if it ever comes to this. |
BETTAH YET!
give out a free membership to the top 3 players at the end of the 'round'. this is when the scores reset, btw. they can use the free registration however they like, be it giving it away, ect...but they must email you and tell you the name they want registered. good? EH!? |
NOOO YOULL LOSE ALOT OF PLAYERS LIKE THAT IF YOU CHARgE ESPECIALLY YOUNG ONES LIke ME I THOUGHT U SAID THIS WAs GOING TO BE FREE WAAAAAAAHH
|
who said anyfin about charging?
this game is free, and lefty and i will do all we can to keep it that way  and token, do NOT post twice... use the "edit" (as stated in the rules of the forum) |
ummm...ya...
don't post twice  that sure makes me look good, having TMyApp beat me to the punch at the job Im SUPPOSED to be doing  as far as the game...when you start forcing ppl to pay for it, THEN you get into major problems.. I don't think marvel, or capcom would EVER let him get away with charging ppl to play a game they own  its simple legal law...he can't get in shit for a non profit situation...but if he profits in ANY way, then the shit can rain down from the heavens. like the man says...must remain free or not at all :( |
ok, again with an idea...and no, i wnt edit my post for this, because its on a seperate note. but your right, the previous ones should have been combined. my bad, sorry.
k, heres the idea.... make this game a little less 'open'...that doesnt really convey what i mean, but i might be able to elaborate a bit... what i mean is, why not have an aproval system? no reasonable, logical person enjoys a chat cluttered with fools. designate that the general public can go in, maybe 2 of em, and one or two for people given passwords. make it so beating someone with a password sets off an auto email type thing that gives them the pass. but not just that...it should have to be approved. this couldnt possibly hurt the newbies, because they could still wallow in eah others filth and play, but it would give the people who earn something here a bit of privacy. i feel this is a good idea, and anyone with me should speak up. if you dont like it, meh, i dont care about it, really. |
Here is my opinion (Crowd runs away).
I play a game called BattleZone2. It is quite popular on-line which is why I think this would work. First off there is only one server. Then there are rooms. You can either create or join a room. If you create a room you can set the ping limit (How high one person's ping can go.), password protect, kick or allow people to enter. I think that is pretty simple and should be able to work, because there is only one server and you just have to worry about rooms. |
