just to follow up on the other threads... today was the 2nd time we had ISP problems in the last 48 hours...
last night the main page was down due to a power failure in Boston, and today, no one could access the game for almost 6 hours due to ISP problems in Canadia'... what can you do? 1st off... dont' worry... and stop flooding me with emails...lol (however, it IS good to send ONE so that i am aware of the problem) ... sooner or later, everything WILL be fixed... and ya'all can get back to killing time/n00bs with Cyclops... 2nd... bookmark both the main page of the game: http://projectx.cyberfuturism.com and the pop-up window where the actual game is located (after you press start/mirror1)... that way, if one is down, u can try and access the game via the other... 3rd, it might also be a good idea to "save" the game to your hard disk by going to "Tools" and "Internet Options" (this is all in IE) ... then hitting the "Settings" button, and checking off the "Never" option... also, make sure u'r "Amount of disk space to use" is set to @least 100mb... this will make sure that the game doesn't need to be loaded each time you visit the site... .. thats about it... major thnx to the VGMFusion.com team for helping out by providing a mirror for the game  |
So next time this happens, can we all send you one e-mail EACH?
Or would that be spamming you with them? |
lol... umm.. sure... go crazy
|
Gosh that's what it was? montalvo and I though they were being flooded with noobies or something. So if we put it to settings would that take up some of the hard drive? :shaun: :yinyang:

Thanks for the loading tip, I will now be able to play the game without it taking 1 friggin hour to load on 56k. I would like to comment though that if you are on AOL, go to Settings, Preferences, Internet Properties(WWW) and then Settings on the menu that pops up. Also, one question: why didnt I have to do this last version. Not a critisim, just curious.
|
ZeroEna: yep, the game will take up around 6.5 megs on u'r hard disk (i'm sure everyone can spare that)
Mbison12: u dont "have" to do any of the "ideas" mentioned in this thread... this is just some "general" knowledge oh how to force u'r browser NOT to refresh/stream/download the game each time (which is a great help for slow modem users, or when our servers go down, and you just NEED to get u'r XvsSF fix) |
Tmyapp, I know, but what i meant is that why didnt it just autoload after the intial download in this version, without doing anything to my settings, like last version? Like i said before, im just curious.

So it'll just update with out haveing to delete the cachete? cool! :yinyang:
|
Mbison12: no idea.. the "streaming" part of the code in the game hasn't changed since 0.1a
ZeroEna: no, everything said here is not ment to force u'r browser to "auto-update" the new version... check the FAQ to see instructions on how to do that (ie: clear u'r cache) in the end however, it all depends on u'r ISP/Browser settings... for 90% of the users, everything has, and always will be done automatically  |
another power failure happend this morning... we were down AGAIN for about 4 hours :(
this has just been a bad week... if anyone is having problems accessing the main page from now on, please try our "new" backup server: http://xbackup.n3.net/ |
