If you look through the members list, you will notice that 75+% of the accounts were created before Jan1, 2000 and never used once.

These accounts are not vets--they have never been used. I see no reason to keep them, and plenty of reasons to delete them. These accounts should be removed immediately...

Why delete them?
1)Each account takes up space on the servers, meaning that there's less space for new forum features, and that fewer topics can be stored.

2)Each account takes up BANDWIDTH, causing the forum to take longer to load, and making it harder on people with dialup especially.

3)It makes searching for members (using the "members" button) a pain in the ass--only about 25% of the accounts there have ever been used, or are new.

4)Many times, people come here, create a cool username, and then never return. So, that username sits there, gathering dust, but noone else can have that name. Its not fair.
Try creating a cool username--chances are, its been taken. And its very possible that its never been used, either.

5)THERE'S NO REASON TO KEEP THEM--THEY WERE CREATED LONG AGO, AND WERE NEVER USED.

I propose that, for accounts created more than 6 months ago that have NEVER been used, the owner be contacted by email. If no response is recieved within a week, then the accounts will be immediately deleted.

guys, you keep acting like this will be some sort of "culling of the n0 0bs". it wont be. If youre reading this right now, then you are OBVIOUSLY not one of those i am referring to. The people to be deleted have NEVER posted here, and were created more than 6 months ago. That means, if you create an account tomorrow, then you can keep that account alive by posting at least 2-3 times in 6 months--thats about 1 post every 90 days. If you cant manage that, then you dont need an account. People dont need an account to view posts....

Basically, you would be deleted if ALL of the following are true:
A)Your account was created BEFORE JAN 1, 2002
AND
B)You have never posted

After the first round of deletions, the mods could do a monthly check, and maybe set up an automatic program where those in danger of being deleted would get a generic email, giving them 7 days to become active in the forums. If after 7 days they still had 0 posts, they would be deleted.

And of course, to be in danger, both A) and B) above would have to be true.

i agree with you too the fourum loads so slow and all the other reasons are right too and the email one should be done too. This fourm loads very slow we really need to go with dragon.
