I love this book.

its about the story of an african man called kunte kinte, who gets captured by the white man and taken to america, where he is enslaved.

it was also a 10 hour mini seiries, now on DVD!!

if you're black, i siriously recomend you see it. if you're white, i siriously recommend you see it. flip, im mexican and im reading/seeing it (my ap teacher shows it to us).

its a wonderful, wonderful book by one of my favorite authors, Alex Haley (authoer of the biography of malcom X)

you better damn read it, or i will hunt you down!

no, but siriously, its like the best book ever. and easy to understand, too. no hard words, or anything like that.

it really brings a tear to my eye to read about how peaceful, and beautiful the Mandinkas (Kunta's tribe) lived, and what terrible things the white man did.

the span of this book is humungous. He cramms 250 years into this book, which is a whole lot. He fits in before america was even a countrie, and all the family kunta spawned. which is awsome, because alex haley (the auther) could basically say that al his family was started by this one man, kunta kinte, because the rest of kunta's family is still in africa.

Because of your recommendation and how much praise you gave it, I will drop by the library and check it out. This gives me an idea, Have like a book of the month--or something along those lines-- thread. Most may not llike the idea, but I'm sure a few will.

I recommend the book "Honkey." It's about a white child who grows up in the ghetto. Deffinitly a culture shock for white guys who think they are hood.

Yeah... it's a pretty interesting story.. but if you're planning to see the movie.. then better prepare yourself. It's pretty graphic.

but all in all, it's a pretty nice saga in the age of slavery. I'm presently doing a report on the "Amistad" some of you might have heard it.. but it has a similar background. It's pretty interesting to know that even during the time of slavery, a type of "enslavement" was actually illegal. As in, once a man (african in most cases) was born free, then he should be free. Of course this was after 1776 and when the first wave of the end of slavery began
