i bet few oflipnew about this, the global warming threat could result in another ice age. i though i open this up into a small discussion.
first, we all know about the global warming thing. CFC's discharged into the atmoshpere and depleting the O3 content that makes up the ozone layer. not only that but there is a rising build up of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide(co2) and methane from the melting arctic. now with all this ice melting, it wont just raise the sea level but that will cause ocean waters that was once salty, to turn fresh. droughts will occur in downstream nations and will trigger water wars. take a good look at sudan and egypt for an example. flooding will include swallowing loiusiana, the florida pan-handle, many islands in the south pacific and the west african coast, which will sub-merge parts of largos in nigeria. and then theres the crop failure in mid-west america, brazil, parts of africa(which will generate numerous refugees) and southern aisa. and with the warm air rising, areas that were once too cold for mosqutios will breed them. the thing is, thats not the scary part about all this. remember what i said about the sea water becoming fresh. the great conveyor belt, also known as the gulf stream, takes warm water currents up and beyond the N60 degree mark to spread it along the british isles and all across the norwegian sea. due to global warming, what if the gulf stream stopped? well, heres the answer: if the Great Conveyor Belt, which includes the Gulf Stream, were to stop flowing today, the result would be sudden and dramatic. Winter would set in for the eastern half of North America and all of Europe and Siberia, and never go away. Within three years, those regions would become uninhabitable and nearly two billion humans would starve, freeze to death, or have to relocate. Civilization as we know it probably couldn't withstand the impact of such a crushing blow. the Great Conveyor Belt is only thing between comfortable summers and a permanent ice age for Europe and the eastern coast of North America. Much of this science was unknown as recently as twenty years ago. Then an international group of scientists went to Greenland and used newly developed drilling and sensing equipment..Their instruments were so sensitive that when they analyzed the ice core samples they brought up, they were able to look at individual years of snow. The results were shocking. Prior to the last decades, it was thought that..the transition time from icy to warm was gradual, lasting dozens to hundreds of years..Looking at the ice cores, however, scientists were shocked to discover that the transitions from ice age-like weather to contemporary-type weather usually took only two or three years. Something was flipping the weather of the planet back and forth with a rapidity that was startling. Most scientists involved in research on this topic agree that the culprit is global warming, melting the icebergs on Greenland and the Arctic icepack and thus flushing cold, fresh water down into the Greenland Sea from the north. think about this for a quick sec pple. the stream has already hesitated a few times. global warming is gonna lead to another ice age in years from now. if we dont reduce the effect of global warming or just sit around and do nothing, this world is gonna go into an icy hell sooner than we could possibly think. |
It would take a revoluntionary man....to change...or stir the views of everyone snake..
Like the majority they consider these problems that of the next generation. According to the bible the world is suppose to not flood again....but it would seem the bible...i..no...whoever wrote the bible wasn't fully sober...when taking in the lord's word...=/ And ICE AGE....an INferno...as long as I can smoke another J.....aslong as my sister is fine....nothing matters to me... oh yeah the health and safety of a few users here as well.. The world is going to hell snake...it's a jusitification... Humanity is the distruction of the planet....how can we save mother nature when we are it's death bringier :sneaky2: |

There are ways to decrease all the pollution and everything and if youlook in some books and some sites u will see that they are trying there hardest to make the earth healthier. but like always there are always people too stubborn and dont think anything of it, and these are the people who end up destroying and wasting stuff. Last, there is almost no way to stop it, it will happen sooner or later even if the earth is healthy. So even if we lower everything ( CO2 and methane ) there will still be the hole in the ozone layer that will keep melting ice slowly, and will eventually end up flooding islands all over |
Yeah, I think it is inevitable. Its not a question of if its a question of when. Anyway who knows, technology has been making big advances, there might be something that can save humanity.

i know a theory that can save us all.

[color=#000000][color=green]The problem with people today is that they're too ignorant to focus on problems that they don't think will affect them in their own lifetime.
Let's take a look at the second planet from our Sun, Venus. Venus has no water on the planet whatsoever, and is completely covered by thick clouds. These clouds are so thick that we can't even see the surface: we've had to map the surface of the planet by using radio waves. but these clouds aren't made up of the same stuff our own clouds are made up of, these clouds are made up of the same sort of crap that lingers over LA every day: CFCs, sulfur dioxide, and other poisonous chemicals. When it rains on Venus, it doesn't rain water: it rains sulfuric acid. And these toxic clouds generate an ENORMOUS amount of pressure. Assuming you were able to survive the descent through the high-pressure atmosphere and the sulfuric rainstorms, you would land on a parched, scorched volcanic landscape with an atmospheric pressure of 90 bars.....that's 90 times Earth's gravity, with an average temperature of about 900 |
yup,..by the time this happens we will be chillin on heaven or hell...choice is ur tho where u wanna be when u die.. :blues:

Before I post anyffin, I'd like to enlighten ye all that CFCs, the Ozone layer AND Global warming are different... but I'll explain the phenomenum of acid rain before I go on.
Now acid rain occurs when the rain from the atmosphere (H2O from the surface of the earth that has evaporated over a period of time) falls through the clouds that contain a high conc of Sulphur... formed by burning coals and other oils. This mutated rain falls on the ground as what we call "acid rain" which is very dangerous... as it can pollute lakes and kill our plants. Now to Global warming and the Ozone layer... well, I don't want to start repeating what Solidsnake76 has said... but just to add a bit. Imagine 2 jars filled with water. Place them out in the sun. One opened and the other one closed. After a period of time, the one that was closed would become hot and steamy while the opened one would pretty much be the same ("culled from Jok R. Church). Now what happens here is that the heat from the sun had no where to escape. The same thing goes with the Carbon that is being released into the atmosphere. It somewhat inhibits the "bad energy" emmited from the sun. The reason I call this "bad energy" is because we get a lot of energy from the sun that's good... and we as humans put into good use. but this bad energy commonly known as Ultra violet radiation. So with all the Carbon running around from the stratosphere, to the atmosphere... you can simply look at it from the point of the earth being placed in a tremendous jar... and the heat from the sun not having any chance to escape. The earth not being able to cool of... so to speak. Hence your case of global warming. As for the Ozone layer, which is another different case entirely, this is like a special type of Oxygen. O3 to be specific. Now, Oxygen as you'll know is diatomic... but Ozone is triatomic. Unfortunately, this Ozone is not that strong... however, it's the right shape and size to absorb the Ultra violet rays coming from the sun. Thus you can call the Ozone layer the earth's sun glasses  Anyway, this Ozone layer is being depleted by checmicals known as CFCs (Choloroflorocarbons.. a mixture of Chlorine, Carbon and Flourine) These are the chemicals you'll see in spray cans (in the past anyway) and in refigerators to puffup plastic foam. Spray cans in the USA do not contain CFCs anymore. So that's just to show you the distinction between those 2 effects. You might say they're both related in a certain way.. but they are both 2 different problems faced by the earth that should be resolved. You wanna know why your elementary school teacher always told you to plant trees?? Well, here's the deal. These trees you plant use up Carbon (IV) Oxide (yeah.. I'm British baby  ) and they store up the ones that we release from burning wood, oil or other stuff... ala huge chemical industries. Ceteris Paribus, this Carbon (IV) Oxide can be stored for use by the plants and thus, does not have to place the earth in a huge jar to prevent the escape of the heat from the sun  Edited By blanka09 on 1101580699 |
