At about 2:06 this morning (EST), skate919 IMd me telling me to turn on CNN.
US ground troops have engaged Iraqi troops in a firefight. There was fire back and forth for a few minutes. A US tank blew up an Iraqi bunker. Iraqis then began fire from a building, which was destroyed in a matter of minutes by a US Tank and a Javelin missile. I'm gonna take a guess and say that the war's REALLY begun now. It's one thing when we bomb them. But ground troops engaging in firefights, $hits gettin serious now. |

Really?? I thought it started once the US started bombing (or air raiding) Iraq military/gov/communications buildings... or at least when they started invading...
Must have been a non-aggressive bombing/invasion :biggrin: I think the war "really" started once the first casualty was made on either side. Anyways... on to more important matters. *glances around* It's 1:00pm in Iraq right now, and 5am here.. need sleep... Think l8ter.. |
the "war" has been going on for a few days now...and so far only a handfull of people have actually been killed...quite a lot have been injured and something like 2000 people from iraq have surrendered.

I think Joe's right here... now that the US is going into Basura (probably misspelled), they'll be engaging in some street fighting with some of the remaining loyals. And I think that the 50 reported casualties (so far) they've gotten from that attack battlefeild shows this is what's going to constitute the actual fighting in this war.
None of this flying through the desert with little or no resistance in the major cities... those can take days to clear out regaruless of how many bombs are dropped. |
well right now he main thing worrying me about this war is that one of our british planes has been shot down by the americans...and i just heard on the news that in the gulf war more brittish and american people were killed by the americans :(
