OK I have a question for ya... if ya know the answer post.. if ya don't ... well don't :biggrin: Ok here it goes.. Two trains on 2 tracks were moving opposite each other at a speed of 60km/h.. yes both at the same speed Now, at a point in time they were 60km apart from each other... At this point(I mean the same time when they were 60km from each other), a bird started to fly to and fro from the two trains... It would fly to the first one and immediately it lands, go to the second one (Don't ask me.. I have no idea why a bird would behave like this :biggrin:) Assuming it doesn't stop or get tired, how far would the bird have travelled when the two trains cross each other... if measured on a straight line? :biggrin: You can take this to your Physics teacher.. :biggrin: Edited By blanka09 on Sep. 03 2003 at 18:27 |

if both going on a straight line they will neever cross assuming it's only 1 track per train.

..Check this..

Thats a simple question to answer. Just give me 1 more piece of info, is the bird landing on each train every second or every minute.
the bird would have flown 21600km if every second 3600km if every minute 10800km if every 2 seconds And so on. |

Lets see warrior if he was reffering to a real live bird, or give a name or how fast the bird is the question will be easy to answer. Usually when researchers answer questions they don't have all the necessary info to make their answers easy. So I just worked with what I had, and I think I have the common sense to know that a bird can't fly that fast. The only bird that comes close to the hour mark maybe the Peregrine Falcon who can reach speeds upto 250km.
I was just assuming he was giving us a fictious question for us to answer. |

600KM....those are my guesses.... Actually physically A birrd doesn't fly that fast to my knowledge.........wait what am I saying...(Falcon 120KM) Wait a minute if both trains are going the same speed away from each other the measurement of distaqnce would be the same Circunfirance as the Earth.....and tell they cross again So I would mulitply 1,2000KM times the Circumfirance of the Earth then measure off in sec.s, to min.s, to hrs.,etc. |
