CHICAGO (AP) -- It's no secret that size matters in the National Football League, but a new study suggests that a whopping 56 percent of NFL players would be considered obese by some medical standards.

Almost all the players qualified as overweight, and 56 percent had BMIs of at least 30 -- what doctors consider obese. For example, a 6-foot-2 man weighing 235 has a BMI of just over 30. Nearly half of the obese players were in the severely obese range, with a BMI of at least 35, and a small percentage were morbidly obese with a BMI of at least 40.[/quote:post_uid3]

He looks like a meathead to be fair.

... so? If the person still plays the sport as well as he/she used to, then theres really no problem. Sometimes a bit of flab may help, especially if hes a defense player

imagine 365 pounds of muscle and fat coming to jump on you when your running with the ball, that'd be sure to get the runner scared as hell, i means thats as bad if not worse than a monster rugby player jumping on you, and you don't have any protection whats so ever, it'd hurt alot in the morning, but you could see why players like that would be wanted in the teams, they're solid, hard to move, and lethal gauranteed to inflict some pain
