Well about 2 weeks ago my comp was infected by spyware soooooo i had to reinstall all my settings............................my question is what exactly is spyware and how did it get into my comp............and wut effects does it have..........? :sleepy:[/color:post_uid9]

spyware is usually just stuff that people trick you into downloading so they can advertize and make money.

you get it by downloading somthing kinda "shady".......anything....like kazaa...

you get rid of it by downloading two programs:

ad-aware
and
spybot search & destroy

run them at least once a day, and always check for updates........that should keep your computer running smoothly

 Well i downloaded spybot and spywareblaster i ran them both it apears spybot found 12 entries..........one of them was comet cursor..........?.........i dont think thats a virus tho? Is that not for chaing mouse pionters and stuff???If so then why was it in the list???[/color:post_uid2]

comet cursor.......no its probably not a virus, but just my the name I could have told you that it probably had spyware.....

whatever the bots tell you is true about what you downloaded.......so delete all the problems they find

My comp gets infected with spyware too I use Aol spyware protection it has updates all of the time and some of the effects spyware can have to your computer is it can slow your computer down quite a bit and can log things u type like addresses and Internet passwords remember spyware does not have to be online to send information from your computer it can log that type of stuff to be sent when you go online  but what i do every time i'm about to go online i scan for spyware makes it easier to use I also do it every time i get offline for a while but u should try aol spyware protection Here Remember to scan at least three times a week

Please use full stops lol. Well basically spyware can effect ur pc in several ways, usually things like changing ur homepage, and making advertisements pop up on ur computer. The damage they inflict themselves aren't really severe but some can lead to more dangerous effects. So I would advise you to delete any spyware you can detect on your pc.

Spyware isn't really that big of a deal, as long as it isn't serious like some of it mentioned above. As long as it doesn't harm your computer, you shouldn't worry about spyware too much.

Yea spyware made my comp super slow...........and it kept chaning my homepage plus plenty off pop ups .......................i heard that spyware duplicates itself once its in ur comp so its almost impossible to delete them completely............thats wut a dell technician told me? :suspect:[/color:post_uid10]
