Wouldn't it be nice to reward those members of SFO who have been here since the beginning, or close to it? It would be a great gift for those who have been around since so, so long ago. Shouldn't loyalty be rewarded?
This topic of discussion came up when, for the first time in nearly 3 years, I logged into the game on a computer that could play it, and encountered DXZero. We talked, and the conversation came to this: shouldn't those who have been around for so long, and stayed at least semi-active, and have been helpful or kind in the community get a special title in the game/forums? Having a special title for such people would be a great idea to reward people for their loyalty to the game. Those who have been around and a helpful or nice part of the community since 2001-2002 should be able to kick people from the servers in SFO. It would keep those who have been around since the beginning around, as they wouldn't have to put up with rule-breaking jerks online. It would also be nice for those people to have a special forum title. What title could be discussed, but here are a few ideas... For those around since 2001... Original Player Oldie Oldskool (spelling optional) For those around since 2002... Veteran Second in Line Again, this would be a very nice way to reward original players to this site. There would be an application process, where forum-goers who think they qualify would apply, and list their game account name, and a discussion on the merits of the application could be discussed by the mods. Yea this idea is very interesting and it would seperate the ####s from the vets not to mention get some respect. But how about all those other lying ####s who pick a random forum name from the past and use it as theyre own i mean common we all know alot of morons do that picking up a random name on the member list and saying"that was my old name" and going to search and typing in the name and finding an old topic posted by the name. And i think it should only be 2001-2002 users who should get something of this sort i mean common we still got 2003 ####s bouncing around rd ####ing ppl . do u really think they should get this kind of honor.

Moderators can compare IP addresses to determine if that was really them. If it is them, their IP address should be the same.

That sounds good. Cuz think of it this way. When people try to flam someone saying ur a "####" at SFO or something. They can just show them up sayin "My title is VET, so show some respect" :biggrin: . Just an idea. But yes, hopefully, ill be here long enough to become someone who's been here a while.

I was thinking of something that was more or less on the same idea. A community team...hand picked buy the admins and mods, basically players with similar powers to mods...a new team could be choosen every once in a while.

The idea is to give a treat to the old/loyal users because they/we've earned it... not to shove it in the faces of the new comers. @DanHibiki: I think this is a splendid idea. Perhaps a petition is in order? The idea is for people who have been part of the community, e.g. on the forums AND the game. Those who have been on the forums since 2001-2002 likely have been a member of the game for that long as well. |

Perhaps not the kicking powers (which I think would just be nice, but not necessary), but a simple special title would be good. That's not excessive special treatment for old-time XMvSFo/SFOers. Well this a good idea but most vets aren't that active any more and Most vets didn't join the forum. Anyways i join backed in december of 02 but didn't join the forum.

Well if youplayed once or twice in 2002 that dosent neccesarily mean u jioned in 2002 sure u played once then left then u come back in 2003.. i mean thats not the same as jioning in 2002 if youwere officially known in 2003 thats the time of ur registered arrival.

I think that if they had alot of acitvity, (as in played the game alot and is on the forum alot) would be copnsidered a vet and such. If thye did play back in the day, and people don't know, they can simply look up the old score archives from when they used to play. Whcih could help.

That's a good idea, but some ppl like myself been on since 2002 and didn't sign up for the forums until 2004. Also some ppl like myself have different screennames on the forums and in-game. My name used to be System3 in the old Xmvsf days

Bah, This is going to sound a bit rude but i know of no other way to say this but in bluntness that you all so much enjoy from me.
(IMO)-I think its kind of stupid for vets to want special titles and stuff, i mean if you know youve been here a while and your "respected", then why do you need special treatment to make you appear "higher" than the other newer members? Thats like me getting a hall pass because ive been to a school longer than you-(Terrible analogy). While thats not the best way to put it, thats perpetually the same thing. Its stuff like this that problably drove that douche ghetto ryu to do what he did, using other peoples accounts and so on. He obviously feels the need to have attention so he got some other guys account to get it. Then again, i can see where your all coming from, your all a sort of "clique" it seems when it comes to things like that. To me when it all boils down to it, the only reason you people want special titles and crud is to imply that your better than the rest of us, which is already too subtly implyed on these sfo-esque forums, dont ya think? I would complain more but im too busy to be bothered, again i didnt mean to insult or offend any of you old fogeys, im merely posting what came to mind when i read this thread. My whole point was, Why should they be reconized(sp?) just because they where playing a video game and posting on a forum longer than the other people? And WHY would anyone care so much to be "reconized" in the first place? For superiority of course. Anyone who says otherwise better have a damn good lie to back it up. And your using a word like respect? Peeshaw, only a handfull of vets that i know of even usher respect out in the first place, so in IMO there the only ones who deserve respect. You know what, i take that back, none of you deserve respect because your a "vet". You deserve respect because your a human being. True, I understand what you mean. Perhaps vets want to get respected because they've shown dedication to the game and stuck with it even at times where hope was minimal, or maybe they want to be recognized because of sore losers in the game who instantly call you a #### when they lose.
Whatever the case i don't really mind whether or not I get respect or recognition, afer all its only a game. |

So technically, he's allowed to say why he does/doesn't like it. usually, people give an explanation with his reason. To a point, he's allowed to put this down. Don't get em wrong, if he's gonna hate on it, then he don't have to post. But he's giving his reasons for hating it. one: this idea is cool for th etitles and it was going on and hapenned, but it made so much confusion and so much hating cause people, all the people wanted the title they wanted and some we're refused due to their joining date which was too recent.
so the idea fell off, but maybe its time to try and bring it back ! the kicking powers will just never hapennes, the why is that if that would happen then mods wouldn't have any more means. since the mods are already like that, all we got are kicking powers and editing powers ! in chat though we got a lot more then that but forum wise it mainly is that we can't even ban people ! as for the DXZERO case, well DXZERO joined somewhere in 2001 and the forum see's him as a 2001 members and for all i know unless this DXZERO knows an ADMIN this joining date cannot be changed that easily ! but who am i to say he is true or not, there is so much retards on the net. all that is needed is to believe ! |
I like the idea of this. Eventhough ther we here longer than others, what makes them think they should have mor epower over others with this "ability to kick people".
Personally, it might be too much. People wo are here before others can be tempted to just kick people for no reason at all. as Karma said, if they did get it, then the currents mods won't have anything to do. Since they were appointed to do just that, keep the peace. The title idea might work. The kicking one WON'T. As far as i'm concerned. |

I know Zero. I talk to him periodically. I spoke to him over AIM about the current situation, and he admitted giving out his password to Ghetto ryu because he doesn't play anymore. Therefore, he doesn't need the account. Ghetto merely wants to get more respect or whatever, so he's impersonating a known and overall well-liked vet. Like it, love it, or leave it... Ghetto Ryu (Untouchable_1) is impersonating DX Zero. I suggest you quit it, too, or I'll get The Shiz to inact some punishment on you. -_- |
