I have a great idea about the people whining about the helpers being too overpowered or too weak

There can be a limitation on how many times you use the helper, like in 3rd strike where you can only do shin shoryuken one time before you can refill your super bar again.

Psylocke: shes too over powered, so make it that she could only come out 2 times

Sentinel: stick sentinel at 5, or raise him up a little, maybe 6, he can easily be dodged.

Guile: Guiles sonic boom can easily be dodged, so maybe make him stay at the same number.

Spiral: Raise spiral to 8, her teleportation doesn't seem to work good, if your being got in a shinkuu and you send out spiral, she'll teleport you, but only for you to move back and get hit against by the shinkuu.

Sentinel: Raise him to 6, he can easily be dodged, he comes out to late, or at least make him faster when he comes out.

Blanka: make him at 4 or 3, since hes almost up there with psylocke.

Sakura: make her at 4, she comes out slowly, so speed her up a bit.

Shuma Gorath: make him at 4 or 3, he comes out slowly, so maybe you can speed him up a little.

TMyApp 04-30-2002 07:09 PM

not bad (just like MvsC)... what does everyone else think ???

MEGAMAN7 04-30-2002 07:34 PM

I think it's a good idea as well, but what about the green octopus guy (I can't remember its name).

DX Zero 04-30-2002 09:57 PM

lol Shuma Gorath.. and yeah like in mvc add in those small and big helpers too

xsilver 05-01-2002 04:10 PM

good idea. some helpers are just way to powerful

TMyApp 05-01-2002 07:08 PM

alright... lets start coming up with some numbers... these are the helpers (and some "tips" on WHO they are.. for all u n00bs out there):

Guile ('sonic-boo...')
Blanka (the green guy)
Psylocke ('psy-thrust' chic)
Sentinel (the 'Robot'; most h8ted)
Shuma-Gorath ('octopus' guy)
Spiral (teleportation)
Sakura ('school-girl')
Venom (2nd most h8ted)
Red Sentinel (see above)

post what YOU think the "number" should be... once we can agree on something that makes sence, i'll update the game

(that should give you people some decision making "power")

05-01-2002 07:27 PM

i just want to emphasise a point tarkan made. If you use Spiral to try and escape a shinkuu-hadoken, she'll teleport you back into its path. That's really, really annoying.

Oh, and speeding up Sakura is a good idea too.

DX Zero 05-01-2002 09:33 PM

well learn to use it... and Tmy why dont u get the numbers off of mvc?

Dan Hibiki 05-02-2002 05:20 AM

Because he wants us to have some input into the game.

lobo 05-02-2002 06:57 AM

Ok... I'll plunge into this!

Guile: 5. Come out faster maybe? He takes a fair while to casually jump out and boom...

Shuma: Yeah, if ya speed him up, 3, otherwise 4.

psylock: prolly 3 actually... she'd be bloody useless with only 2 jump outs.

either sentinel: 5, making them come out faster? That way its not so hard to perform a launcher for them to hit the opponent with?

blanka: 3. Same as psylock, really.

sakura: if sped up, then 3, otherwise 4. Same idea as per shuma.

venom: i hate the v man second most... so maybe 6 or even 7? He won't even hit you if you are on the other end of the screen, so, in my somewhat n00b opinion, he should have more jump ins.

retarded I-do-bugger-all teleport girl: Yeah, I know, the vets out there reckon she is wonderful and useful and all. I dunno, can we axe her? I mean, when I see that nitwit apppear as my helper, its more "geeze, why me?" than anything. I've never played anyone whose made a decent use of her... but if we must have her, maybe 10? Who knows. I'd rather not see her, but still...

On a final note: Could we have another "helper?" The quotes are there because this is a Lobo

asshole 05-02-2002 12:01 PM

Guile - 6 (Make the boom a bit faster).

Blanka - 5 (Keep him at 5 since he only does a 2 hit attack anyway..)

Psylocke - 3

Sentinel - maybe 7, or just make the beam a bit lower or make him shoot the missiles...

Shuma Gorath - 3

Spiral - 8, but me personnaly would say 99+.

Sakura - 3

Venom - 8
and
Red Sentinel??? We cant even choose him, can we?

TarkanX 05-02-2002 05:35 PM

I had a thought and what would happen if the big characters come, Sentinel would then be like psylocke is right now(or like Psylocke was in October).

DX Zero 05-02-2002 10:17 PM

um heres an idea.. the helpers will do random attacks when u call them it?

asshole 05-03-2002 12:01 PM

Tark, I thought of that too, but then TMyApp could just change the amount of times...

Necro2k2 05-04-2002 03:12 PM

tarkanx what a great idea....my idea of changing sentinels atttack didnt work before...but its ok
well i hope ur ideaa works out ;)

Roll 05-04-2002 04:04 PM

um... let's see...

Sakura: 4 1/2 (j/k just 4)

Shuma Gorath: 4 (You can JUMP over him!)

Guile: 5 (His sonic boom is an easy dodger, even if it had an increase of speed..)

Psylocke: Probably 4.

Blanka: I haven't used him yet in the game, but, 5 maybe?

Sentinal: 6 since you can't hit other people with him, unless they're jumping or hitting high (or if you're standing with Chun li..)

Red Sentinal: There's a second Sentinal? o.o;

Spiral: 7 since she only teleports. (great for traps though...)

venom: 6... no comment. (he's kinda cute though...) O.o;

By the way, try adding Ton Pooh! She's funny and strong, yet easy to dodge! ^.~

Jedi Knight 05-05-2002 01:06 PM

Blast you Tarkan , j/k. My whole game strategy revolved using 5 Psylocke's. Now what am i going to do? Couldnt both ppl playing have the option of choosing the helper of their choice? Would that cause too much harm? It would sure as #### save TMyApp the hassle , in order to concentrate on bigger things such as Cyclops and the restriction of as much lag as possible. Seriously , i like it how it is , at its current state. Variable styles , as it should be. If anyone's highly skilled , then they can just as easily use every helper 5 times at its maximum. And if you put this into perspective , its kinda like a ladder. You begin with Psylocke , master that and advance , until you mastered Sentinal , i guess. This is a great way to motivate yourself , until you think youve reached your absolute peak. Anyone agree with me?

DX Zero 05-05-2002 06:30 PM

o yeah.. scratch the other idea..
how about before u fight theres a helper select box like in mvc and it randomly picks unless you press something....

Roll 05-06-2002 08:08 AM

You're pretty silly Zero, cause they did that option already. Ever wonder why I always get Sakura as a helper? ^-^

DX Zero 05-06-2002 07:31 PM

no no...its kinda ...different

Roll 05-06-2002 08:25 PM

How is it different, Zero? *hugs* (You're the nicest one here) ^-^

DX Zero 05-06-2002 10:46 PM

well, theres a box with a small picture of the helpers and the highlight thing keeps moving down the rows and it will stop at a random helper unless u press a key...

TMyApp 05-07-2002 01:07 PM

DX: yeah, we almost have that (whout the box... or ability to "select" as the "box" is crolling through the helpers)

if people REALLY want this, it can be done... but, till then, there is another "big change" for the helpers on my list (and it's not just the number)...

Roll 05-07-2002 05:47 PM

Ouu!! For once I think I know what someone is saying! That sounds like a great addition TMyApp! I hope it works out your way though...^-^

Physicals r scary 05-09-2002 08:44 AM

yes, add more for spiral, i use her the most anyways, if you get in a corner, guess what? she teleports you away. guess what? if your in a shinku, she teleports you away. nuff said

SSJKarma 05-09-2002 09:00 AM

i agree that she is good but when your in a shikuu...
if the opponent who shot it is at one end of the screen and youre the others way then she teleport you back in the shikuu since she cannot teleport you behind the opponent !

Irrelevant 05-12-2002 09:29 AM

Psylocke: 3
Hard to hop, & quick to come out.

Sentinel: 8
Attack very short and easily dodged.

Shuma-Gorath: 5
Slow, but hard to dodge.

Spiral: 7
Not that useful, but can be a life-saver.

Sakura: 3
Fairly fast, virtually impossible to dodge exept with Chun-Li.

Venom: 9
How do you aim this guy? Slow to come out, small range, short attack.

I don't really know about the others.

ZeroEna 05-12-2002 10:28 AM

hmm... Definatly the box it would be much better definaly much better because that way you don't stand the chance of always getting stuck with the same person. Personaly if it were possinble I'd want Hyato or Jin as a helper. Just play Plasma Sword and you'll see what I mean. Irrelevent quote's from Link's awakening right? Never did under stand that quote. :cheesy:

[I] "To those with dreams fly to your dreams"

Irrelevant 05-14-2002 08:22 AM

I've just had a great idea for making helpers fairer!

At the moment, whoever doesn't choose first ends up with a random one, right?
Could that be changed so that they end up with the *same* helper as the person who got in first?

PS: The scrolling box is a great idea.

Troy88 05-15-2002 09:08 AM

Irrelevant: due to a bug, player 2 gets a random helper regardless (80% of the time).

If this bug were to be fixed so that both p1 and p2 could pick whoever they wanted, then I don't have a problem with the way things are now (although I still think it's BS that you can call out a helper in the middle of getting supered). If helpers are to be numbered, however, I vote for the following:

Psylocke: 2
What would half of you do if you didn't have Psylocke to break your opponent's supers? Learn how to block! Or super jump!

Blanka: 3
The ultimate super breaker (comes out super fast). He's not that powerful, however, so he's a half step below Psylocke.

Guile: 5
Average speed, can break a super, but if you are getting beat down in the corner, he'll jump out BEHIND your opponent, and his sonic boom will miss altogether. That sucks.

Shuma Goraith: 3
Almost as good as Psylocke, but seems to come out a bit slower.

Sentinal: 7
Sentinal is powerful, but will miss the target 2/3's of the time. Plus he's slow and you can see him coming from a mile away.

Spiral: infinite
.....

Venom: 7
THE slowest helper in the game. By the time he gets out there, the super is more than likely near completion. If you see him coming during normal gameplay, you have time to grab a snack and something to drink and still super jump out of his way.

Sakura: 4
Sakura is decent. She has a wide range of attack, and takes decent damage. She's a bit on the slow side, however, so she's a step below Shuma Goraith and Blanka.

I also have a suggestion for Spiral. When you call her out, I've noticed that she says "switch." However, you usually end up right in front of your opponent. If calling her out actually made you and your opponent switch places, that would be quite useful in a match. Just a thought.

SSJKarma 05-15-2002 09:57 AM

i would say helpers are right that way but need some tweaks !
the choosing box is good idea !

spiral doesn't teleport you BEHIND only when you would end up off screen so she teleport you upward ! other than that she's more of an offensive helper ! (ever tryed her in a hadoken duel)

sentinel is a great helpers when you dont give them the choice. (get in him out then blast a hadoken right away the oppoent wont have much choice left =;-DD)

sakura,shuma,psylock,blanka = good defensive helper

venom = like guile he come out too slow, but unlike guile his venom fang goes way too far... so hes practicaly useless... unless you take him out for long ranged oppoenent who always use hadokens !?!

forget about it i just found is strong point !
but he need some speed tweaks !

guile = why is he saying sonic gapore ? it's sounding like singapour !

red sentinel = if we have it in the game then put him at 2 since he rushed into the opponent and he's massive and undodgeable !
