if your like me you enjoyed the metal gear solid series and highly anticapate snake's newest adventure.

The newest installment(actually more of a new beginning ...bum bum bum)puts snake in the jungle during the sixties.

the title snake eater probably refers to the weird but cool ability to hunt and eat the wildlife in the jungle instead of rations (but im sure there are rations in the game)
this new metal gear game seems to blow the others away not only are the guards smarter and much much much more realistic(in terms of behavior)but snake also has to battle the elements if it rains you might get cold and lose energy and if you don't eat for a while you risk having shaky aim and such.

another improvement this game offers is now snake can use knives and hang from a branch and shoot with the other hand.

the game is much more based on camoflage than the last 2. and how you use it. maybe is would be better to crouch than stand and wich way you put the camo on(templates)

but the games biggest selling point to me is the whole jungle idea is cool and challenging because in most jungle games there are routes to follow. well in MSG3 you can make you own route go anywhere, if there is a cliff you can't climb you can climb up a nearby tree's branches and go to the other side. also, instead of starting right at the base the game has you starting a couple of miles from the base(like in a real sneaking mission) oh and no more codec its more of a actual radio now.

all in all this game looks kickass ,but one thing troubles me if snake is in the jungle during the sixties then wouldnt that make him 65 in the original metal gear solid (wich is based in 2005) but some say thats not snake at all. they say it's big boss snakes perfect dna father. well mr. hideo kojima hasnt said anything yet but im sure it will be like the last metal gear shocker.

ur not snake tho. U play as big boss in the 1960's. I was kind of saddened when i heard ur not snake but the graphics and awesome gameplay have made up for that. U can actually shoot a bee hive to make it fall on baddies while u sneak away as they get stung and try to get the bees off them.

METAL GEAR : OUTER HEAVEN
METAL GEAR 2 : SNAKES REVENGE
METAL GEAR 3 : SOLID SNAKE
METAL GEAR 4 : SONS OF LIBERTY

in all those there was snake in the story so at least the fourth one wasn'T a total faillure story wise !

if there are no snakes int he fifth one, then there is no METAL GEAR as we know it !

don'T take me wrong on this... i love the metal gear series...
but what you are talking about right now, isn't a love for the game,but a love for the GENRE !
its not the same, if you loved the series then you would be as disappointed as me to see this game coming down to his knees cause they removed the head character that made the game what it is !

im really pysched up for it. and yes i do beleive it is big boss and not solid snake because he would be a geezer in the msg1 and msg2 ...hmm playing as big boss that would be fun to see the legendary soldier snake was cloned from. but in the pictures he has brown hair..i thought big boss had blonde hair(and no im not talking bout solidus..although i thought he was cool..but a pushover if ya ask me.)

dude big boss is the badass of all badassses. Snake would not be in the metal gear series if not for big boss. and Im sure mgs fans would like to have the background story of the man behinde solid and liquid. the metal gear solid series isnt all about snake(but he is the hero) ...its been based on METAL GEARS(the giant weapons of mass destruction)

and big boss and snake are pratically the same person(he is his clone you know) and im sure snake got his code name from his "father" before him.

and who are you to say that we are in love with the genre?

metal gear is what is because of it's tactical espionage. shoot you could have sonic in there and still people will play it because they love the whole sneaking stealth feel to it.
i know that its sort of a downer that snake probably(you never know) isnt in it. but i don't hear you whigning about sons of liberty when raiden became the hidden protagonist.

Actually, you do play as snake. You play as him later on but, Big Boss at first.

I am playing as snake the whole time but, there is some ontros and stuff they did to make the video cool.

woot i just downloaded and watched the e3 trailer and it was awesome ...although i didnt understand a single word snake and the guards said because its in japanese...oh well i can use my imagination..heheh :p

erm raiden never defeated snake.. snake was sorta schooling him into being a better foxhound agent(over codec.).
its actuallly funny how snake manipulates raiden thru the game cuz he is a rookie. The only snake raiden ever defeated was solidus snake(his foster father)
but snake was framed as a bad guy but it didnt last long.

anyway... didn't said i hated the whole system, but story wise, if the story isn't about SNAKE or anything like that... i mean BEING PLAYED in the game... then i say that we are talking about a whole new METAL GEAR, not the old one !

METAL GEAR, for my part as always been with snake, so i don't see the point of having him removed of the game, and i mean removed as the playable char !

it would be like that FINAL FANTASY movie !
yes there was the love story like in all FF games, but by removing the weapons and magics and also summons... they got rid of everything that made the games what they were !

so i say MGS is the same as that...
MG never have been only about METAL GEAR, but also about how snake made his debut, to the snake we know now...
METAL GEAR and the gameplay isn't what makes the game fun to play, for me ! i like the story in this game and if the story bugs me out, then the whole game bugs me out !

if snake is again, the main character of the game and you play with him for at least 3/4 of the game, then ok, but if like the fourth MG... i won't buy it, maybe borrow it from a friend or something, but never will i buy something that doesn'T ahve snake !

i agree with ya karma. i got pissed off when u had to play as raiden for most of the game. i was like :angry: i beat that game in 2 days then i returned it at gamestop and got my money back. damn that game to hell!!!!!! :angryfire: but it was still a good game even if you could be snake through the whole game.

bah you guys need to have more open minds...

anyways i was always curious about big boss . im mean he really was kinda shrouded in mystery for me.

and the metal gear story..erm liquid lives thru his arm in ocelot..kinda dumb if you ask me but the whole S3(solid snake simulator) was cool. and then is was actualy a censoring decive by the patriots.(wich made my head spin...plot changes you know)

well i think its gonna be great just like metal gear solid 2 (and dont say it sucked because snake wasnt in it. raiden may be a rookie but he kicked some ass)

but without a good story... or a change of story that bad... it just doesnT' matter how the gameplay is, you still see the same old stupid story, so you just want to play the game without the need to listen to the damn FMVs or STORY !

i say, you made the 1,2,3 games with SNAKE as the main hero, then i say... don't change an already working solution and keep him the main hero !

Dragonball GT
at the end oif DBZ, GOKU (the hero) was training UBUU because he would have to defend the earth. because goku was now too old...

but DBGT goes all the way with GOTEN and TRUNKS, and all the way to GOKU JR and VEGETA JR !

i mean come on, don't you think its going to far for nothing, it makes the thing gets worst then it is !

same goes for MGS, if SNAKE is the hero, then go on with it and continu as him being the hero !

the game rock and will still rock, reguardless of the main charcater, but story wise, changing the hero when it was all about him, is just plain old stupid !

well you do have a point there. but i seriously doubt they will go into the depth of big boss's father because in the metal gear series they don't mention anything about it anyways. oh and the reason i was interested in big boss is because he was the renowned worlds greatest solider. so i just wanna see how great he really was.

im confused on why it changed to raiden but here is a probable reason. snake is getting old. he probably was either in his early 40's or late 30's in metal gear solid 2
and in metal gear solid 1 snake states to campel that he is retired. so i guess konami was searching for a replacement. but i guess its hard to like change when you grew with snake during the series.

the games goin to be good, but it wont feel like metal gear, theyre going to copy everything on splinter cell

SPLINTER CELL has a way higher LEVEL of REALISIM.
MGS is good, but the style is far from being the same dude !

i think SNAKE never needed anything, the style is good, but MGS as always been reputed for his STORY, not for his gameplay. tho it became even more realistic, it was the first game to have tactical espionnage gameplay.

but everyone played that game for the story !
while SPLINTER CELL was mainly played for his GAMEPLAY !

two different one if you ask me, both are good in their way !
but i do hope MGS3 won't copy the moves of SAM !
after all, both are different people !

as for the SNAKE RETIRED...
he was in his mid 30 !
let's calculate to be precise...

about mid 20, during OUTER HEAVEN !
4 years later is the second game
which means about 29...
wasn't it 4 years again between SOLID and REVENGE ?
that makes him about 33
+ the time between the SOLID 1 and SOLID 2 games !

yeah he's between 30 and 40 !
but he said he retired from combat because he was tired of being the puppet of the government and that the thrill of doing this was gone because of the events that hapenned since outer heaven and the zanzibar island !

so he doesn't is too old, its just that he has enough of being the puppet of the government !
so i still don't see why they would have wanted a replacement !
