Well, I felt like being a teacher and schooling everyone that doesn't pay attention in Earth Science based classes.
So please ask me any question that you might not understand about Earth Science.(Random Insanity no flaming this topic is a little useless so what I'm bored) |
Lol!!!!!!
U actually made a topic about plate tectonics!!!!! Thats funny......Well i know everything i need about tectonics, but i got to see if u know ur stuff...... How many tectonic Plates are there in the world? |
Well, Tupac the term "tectonics" comes from the greek word "tektonikos" meaning "construction." There for tectonics is the study of the formation of features in the earth's crust.
Plate Tectonics is meanly a theory that not only describes continental movement, but also proposes a possible explanation of why andow continents move. Tupac you said "Tell me how many Tectonic Plates there are?" Now Plate Tectonics is a theory, but I think you are asking for how many layers there are in the earth's crust. Here are the layers= The earth consists of two types of crust which is= Oceanic and Continental. Lithosphere=Those two different crusts make up this layer. Asthenosphere=The layer beneath lithosphere. Now the earth has 4 major layers, but think you where reffering to the crust. The answer= 2 |

Sorry to the Moderators if this image is to big..... But its for education :buttrock: Well seems there is more plates than u imagined. The earth's surface is broken into seven large and many small moving plates. These plates, each about 50 miles thick, move relative to one another an average of a few inches a year. Three types of movement are recognized at the boundaries between plates: convergent, divergent and transform-fault....... I live in California i should know alot about tectonic Plates  The closest Fault around here is the San Andreas Fault....... Thats where the mayor earthquakes come from in California :) |
Yes Cali has is in an area where earthquakes are very likely to to happen.Interesting I thought there where only 7 Tectonic plates.Wait, I'm going to ask you something PRO.
Who was the scientist that proposed the theory of the "Continental Drift"? |
Uh............... ???
It was some German guy named Alfred ____....... His last name escapes me. |
how about something from chemistry?
hate that class |
wow... I never though i would see an educational thread...
:0 but since its here i might as well do you know why volcanoes erupt? |
Tupac the first name is correct his last name is Wegener.
Ok, Mooo1 first you must understand what is inside volcanoes.Don't answer with lava because would hav to say that is incorrect.Magma is lava before it is exposed to the earth's surface. Now, to answer your question. The pressure from the movement of plates opens areas that lead to the earth's "mantal."The mantal is the layer below the earth's crust. Now we as the human race can never dig to the mantal because the heat is about 500 to 800 degrees there. So the way the rock from the mantal which is magma reaches the earth surfaces is by the pressure of the movement of the plates. When I say plates don't mean the same plates as Tupac I'm talking about the "Plate Boundaries".There are three in all. There names are = Divergent Boundary Convergent Boundary Transformation Fault Boundary Anymore questions if so I will break the proces down to you in a more simple way. |
Chemistry ehhh ok,
Name me atleast three chemical elements that are nonmetals. Ok, for those still studying Earth Science. In the image a few post above you will see animage of "Pangaea" brought to you by Tupacwestsider. Now for the next question. Surrounding Pangaea was a huge ocean. The ocean meant "all seas" So tell me what was the name of that ocean? |
HmMm... Cough*Pacific I doubt it was the @tlantic.
Been a while forgot that answer. Any way how many properties would be in a star. This is just a ? out of curiosity [/color:post_uid4] |
hey u want science question?k....which comes first...egg or chicken :)
|
The answer to my question is Panthalassa.
Which was the body of water that Surrounded Pangaea. Three chemical elements that are nonmetals= Carbon monoxide(CO2) Silicate H2O(Water) BloodPack= Simple the preshistoric chicken which was a mammal or an dinosaur this is only a theory type question. (I forget it's name).Later it grew to the Chicken of today, and in which laid an egg. Quiet Killer= Ok, every basic organism has a nucleus. So first the star has a nucleus.Secound, there are protrons That give off positive energy.Electrons give off a negative eletric charge.Nuetrons are nuetral, but are needed to make an atom.So a star has perhaps to many atoms to count. First for a star to form it's a nova cloud(Thats not the correct name but thats what it is). This is a star at it's baby stage. Evenutally the star will get to the stage as our star we call the "sun".After this stage comes the stage known as "Red Gaint".Then comes White drawf the gravity is amazingly high..The last stage is Dark Drawf which is a black hole. |
plate tectonics? pffftttt..... that's just too boring(not to mention easy)
1. what's a white hole? 2. what's hyperspace? 3. what's the 4th dimension? |
[quote:post_uid0="princevegetam"]plate tectonics? pffftttt..... that's just too boring(not to mention easy)
1. what's a white hole? 2. what's hyperspace? 3. what's the 4th dimension?
Why are you asking questions princevegetam I know you understand this, but ok. 1)White hole I'm not sure what that is,but I think I heard something about this.OK when a sun reaches it's last stage it can become a White hole or a Black Hole.A white hole has an amazing level of gravitional pull on the objects around it.The Dark Hole his the same affect, but instead the objects are sucked inside of a black hole, and crushed by the intense pressure. 2)Hyperspace I am not sure, but I will try to answer it to the best of my ability.Hyperspace is a rate of speed travel in space. It is measured in a space time continuim fashion. To reach Hyperspace one would probaly need the use off the "4th Dimension." 3)4th Dimension I'm not sure, but I will answer to the best of my knowing. The 4th Dimension is said to be reached by traveling through the black hole. Now for my question= "How did the Mesosaurus bones of Sao Paulo,Brazil and the Mesosaurus Fossil Bones of Western Africa provide evidence of continental drift?" |
bahh.... i have nothing i don't really know but here goes:
1. how do antimatter engines work? 2. what happened to the dinosaurs? 3. are you gay? lol j/k |
whats wrong with space? i can correctly answer any question about it.
|
[quote:post_uid0="SBYRD5"]Three chemical elements that are nonmetals=
Carbon monoxide(CO2) Silicate H2O(Water)
Those are actually compounds. elements cant be broken down any further like: carbon, helium, and hydrogen and the rest of the periodical table of elements. |

FIRST: Rooster SECOND: Hen THIRD: Egg hahhahahahhahahh  |
[quote:post_uid0="SBYRD5"]Three chemical elements that are nonmetals=
Carbon monoxide(CO2) Silicate H2O(Water)
erm incase you havent noticed there not elements, and there are more than 3 non metal elemnts, i dont know all of them but some are, oxygen, hydrogen, argon, bromine and phosphorous, and i dont know how u got it wrong cos its some of the first stuff you learn in chemistry |
MIG I know that I said just name three not all off them.(I can't even do that off memory)
|
Next question byrd of chemistry ...waiting
|
King of heartz ok what elements make up water.
I think I gave the answer earlier. This topic is going off topic. ??? |
umm.how come the earth isnt a big ball of fire because of its core?how come the core magma doesnt leak out?(can you answer that?) :sly:
hydrogen oxegen (h o) 2 2 |
"H2O", u should have least given me a challenge maybe like naming NH4 C2H3O2 can't write subscripts so they look like coefficients.
|
HCL+Zn=what?
|
[quote:post_uid0="akuma_forever"]umm.how come the earth isnt a big ball of fire because of its core?how come the core magma doesnt leak out?(can you answer that?) :sly:
hydrogen oxegen (h o) 2 2
Simple back on subject, The reason the world isn't a big ball of fire is because it's not.The world is made of crust and rock. There is a very thick layer of rock surrounding the mantal. Now, when there is a crack magma seeks through.Thats about it oh the earth gained such intense heat from the pressure of the plate boundaries I believe. I think what I just said is wrong. |
No one wants to learn please close this topic......it's a shame education just aint popular. ???
|
WHAT THEY HECK DOES IT MATTER AS LONG AS IT STAYS IN THE CORE I COULDNT CARE BUT BACK ON THE SUBJECT AS MAGMA HEATS UP AND THE CURRANT PLATE I.E PACIFIC AND ANTARTIC PLATES MEET IT BUILDS UP PRESSURE DUE TO FRICTION WITCH CAUSES THE MAGMA TO SEEP THROUGH SO U GET ERRUPTIONS, SIMPLE I CANT REMEMBER THE 3RD PLATE ILL HAVE TO CHECK PS.THESE PLATES ARE CONSTANTLY MOVING DONT BELIEVE ME CHECK IT YOURSELF.

ok let get sum pple here smart sby. ur not the only one smart at science here:
-what is the ozone layer made of pple? -why is it so important? -how is the ozone, greenhouse effect and global warming linked? -can the ozone be repaired?[i may know how...] -how did pple get to north america during the ice age? -what will happen to earth 5,000,000,000 years later? now answer those. |
the ozone is made up of O3
the ozone layer is needed to stop UV rays from the sun many chemicals being wasted destroy the ozone layer letting UV rays come in but don't let them come out creating the green house effect and global warming until now noone nows how to make more ozone Most people believe through the Baring Strait in between Alaska and Russia which was frozen over in the Ice Age I don't think anyone can tell what is in the future |
-correct
-correct -CFC's destroy the ozone -if i had the right stuff, i could expiriment and make O5 -it was a land brigde due to the lack of water in the oceans, they were at low levels -i read that the sun will balloon into a red giant, heating earths surface to 2,000 degrees or higher. |
* looks around*...whoa u guyz sure know a heck of a lot about this subject than me....well.....anywayz....thx for filling me up with the info......heh..i used to suck...in science anywayz....so this place just aint for me......anywayz good topic....has a point...and is educative.....good job SBYRD .and supporters of the topiC !
|
i know that CFC's chlorofluorocarbons destroy the ozone that is why they were banned in the 1970's
I wouldnt know if O5 would be possible because it has six valence electrons and needs 8 on each oxygen. i have no idea about the sun it might turn into a red giant after its star life finishes which depends on how old the sun is. Oh yeah Solid i don't think hydrochloric acid and zinc mix if they do what compound would it make |
its been determined that the sun is 5,000,000,000 years old, earth: 4.2 billion. but the universe: 15,000,000,000. that gives me a thought:
-how hot was the temp during the big bang? -is the universe slighty warm? -is the universe still expanding? -how was the sun formed? -how much percent of dust was used for the creation of the sun? the planets? -how big is the universe? note: space your answers please. |
[quote:post_uid0="kingofhearts"]Oh yeah Solid i don't think hydrochloric acid and zinc mix if they do what compound would it make
to answer that: HCL+Zn-H=ZnCL. it boils and the hydrogen is excreated. |
the only one i know is the universe is still expanding but some people also think of the Big Crunch after the universe stops and all the galaxies collide making another Big Bang.
ill have to look the other ones up |
[quote:post_uid0="kingofhearts"]the only one i know is the universe is still expanding but some people also think of the Big Crunch after the universe stops and all the galaxies collide making another Big Bang.
ill have to look the other ones up
better go buy some books. and give sum other pple a chance. |
That wouldn't be a natural reaction or a chemical reaction since it doesn't follow the principles of The Law of Conservation of Mass it maybe 2HCl + 2Zn= 2ZnCL + H2 so it is balanced looks like a single replacement, if it would combine
if anyone wanted to post they would have, its not like im holding them back :laughlong: |

The earth is actually expected to be absorbed by the sun in 3 billion years |
