Depends on the game I think....Those 2 might be decent..

the AUTHOR and PRODUCER matters !

example:
TOMB RAIDER = pretty damn true to the series... (except some story leaks, example, the father's death)
MORTAL KOMBAT = pretty damn true to the series... (again, story leaks here and there)

can't really remember others that were good... just can't remember a lot !
every other games that i saw...

DOUBLE DRAGON
STREET FIGHTER
MORTAL KOMBAT 2 : THE ANNIHILATION
FINAL FANTASY : THE SPIRIT WITHIN

and some others... the author just didn't have the same vision as the author who made the game !
see... it all depends on who made the movie... as the author the same vision as the one who created the game ?

example... AKIRA TORIYAMA is helping in making his ANIME DBZ into a REAL ACTION MOVIE ! so yeah, it can be real good... plus, its 20th century fox who produce it... so big budjets !

really, it all depends on all those critters !

forgot to mention... DRIVER has also been bought by some company to make the LIVE ACTION MOVIE !

Like karma says it depends on what the game is...If it is a game that will reqiure alot of specal effects it might not be very good.

as long as they dont ruin the action and storyline[STREET FIGHTER], its all good. but tomb raider:

-only lara and the butler[Abe McGilicuddy, its in #3 guide] lived together.
-she had her own training courses built, indoors and out, not sum gaint room with a robot trying to kill her.[it was pretty hot though]
-there should of been a little more action.
-it could of been made with the storyline from tomb raider 1.
-some info on her history were false:
-father name: lord hemsherly croft[ sumthing like that, its in the manual.]
-he wasnt killed as how the movie described.

but if they are making a second one, i wonder if von croy will be in it.

TOMB RAIDER was pretty damn true to the games SNAKE !
my friend is a complete fan of the series...
he has 1 thru 5 and completed them all...
too bad he cannot have the sixth one since he doesn't have a PS2.
but anyway... he said that it was pretty damn good and true to the games !

but like i said...
STORY LEAKS happen in all movies...
his father is the worst...
the hotel thing was true, her life was true, her training IS true... in game it only show basics, normal that in a movie we see better things then basics. don't you think ? the kind of trap and the kind of mystery was true to the games...

OVERALL... TOMB RAIDER was one of the few movies that was actually up to the quality of the games !

really... it all depends on who is making the movies anyway... if they share the same visions as the original creator... then and only then the movie will be good !

for my part, too much games were sold just for the fun of making money... by bothching the movie, they ruined the games reputation !

even the resident evil movie was horrible !
the zombies, lickers were greatly made, true and exactly like the series... but story wise, it was plain horrible !

Super Mario brothers and Final Fantasy had nothing to do with the game at ALL!

ff was good though.

man, most of games turn into kind of movies sucked really bad.........they don,t stick to story of the game. They make a completely different story. Change the characters life.........

Take Street Fighter for example, Ryu is a street fighter and they make him a bandit or whatever, same with Ken...........anyway the only one that was good for me was like Karma said Mortal Kombat........ they followed the story quite well.........even if both movies didn't make much success....... :dontgetit:

oh and there's another flaw to games turn into kind of movies, they don't make a lot of success for some reason, only us game fanatics like watchin those moviesm which discourage people to make those kind of movies, which is sad really :mad:

Lol Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, that flopped in the box office big time. They should have stuck with the true FF series instead of branching off and making something different and then maybe they would have done better.

second: techniology is a good thing (have been done in FF before) but they always had MAGIC and SWORDS.
third: did i mention that the FF games had MAGIC AND SWORDS ?

a true friend of mine is also a very big fan of the serie, and he was totally disappointed after seeing it !
he said the same as me, but he added that it was much more looking like STARCRAFT and STARSHIP TROOPERS then FF !
so yeah, the FF movie was a total faillure !

again... why has it happen... because the guy who made it didn't had the VISION the CREATORS (square) had !

Lets see they attempted a DBZ movie and the company that made it is now out of business for it and a Street Fighter movie which didn't get that great of reviews. As most have said it depends on the game.

Well I did like the movie it was pretty good. I was shocked to see what happen to the black guy (thought he make it) but the story did take place as in the game except they were under Racoon City. And in the end she comes out seeing the city bieng taking over by the zombies, then it ends.

ninja turtles owned all. i thought that double dragon was a bad movie. i used to like it when i was little but now im like *why did i like that fruity movie*

and street fighter.........i dont know what the hell they did to that movie. i mean how u gonna get a skinny old guy to play bison. ryu and ken didnt look like ryu and ken. and since when did ryu and ken sell weapons to people ??? (thank god the animated movie was a lot better)

mortal kombat 1 and 2. what more can i say. those movies kicked ass. the fighting was mad tight.


i didnt like the final fantasy movie that much. cause i didnt see any sword play in it.

and i though tomb raider was ok. could of been better.

i think it is a great idea to turn games into movies. but its just the dumb directors that always gotta #### up everything

FINAL FANTASY: square did participate in this one, but they never had the chance of touching the script, all they were there for, was helping in making the grpahics of the movie, which those graphics were good ! but since the scenario was very very very stupid in itself... sorry but that movie was based of a very very promising game that was suppose to be very very very good, but all they sucessfully did, was throwing the game off balance with a very very very weak movie !

Dragonball the movie... yeah, but it was a FAN BASED movie...
the movie was very greatky done in itself... but since the character never had the creator as an helper on things, he just never got up to the challenge !

as of now... the REAL DBZ movie that is coming, is in developpment, but AKIRA TORIYAMA signed with 20th century fox who now have the rights to DBZ... what they are doing, is talking with AKIRA for the scenario and the movie itself !

so the movie will really be great if it continues that way !
why do i think so ?
because, has of now, every movie that was asking the creators to actually do the scenario and characters, have all been great sucess !

SPIDERMAN comes into mind... was done by the original author !
X-MEN (marvel did made some changes, cause the characters were like completely different, now they were half-way there)
TOMB RAIDER also is in that category... EIDOS comepletly had to do with the movie ! so the game was really found in the movie !

angelina wasn't suppose to do it, but at the final moment, she decided to do it !

so basically, if the creators have to do with the movie, then and only then will it be exactly like it was suppose to be ! as for little story leaks, or characters leak... well, there are gonna have alot and will always be existing in every movies... so its not all about STORY and graphics, its all about the characters. the story is also important, but as long as the characters are fine and un touched, the story can be anything, as long as it is good !

Hey, EVERY Final Fantasy has something different from the last! They started out with only using midevil weapons . . . but eventually worked their way into using midevil AND guns and stuff! We ALL know that they are BOUND to come out with one soon enough. With the movie, they were trying something new, as they do in all of the games.

But I do agree that it was dissapointing, compared to the games . . .



On Topic: I think Metroid would make a sweet movie

well.. resident evil was a good film there will be number 2 and im hopig there is nemeis on the 2nd 1 its a bout a young cop called leon who goes to racoon city and when he drivers he finds a dead body ,before u know it zombies appear and then once he goes to this dark, alley he see this girl named clair and a zombie heading up to them ,and leon shoots it and it goes, down he drives in a poilce car with clair before u know it there's a zombie in it, and they scrash in to a truck and u have a handgun with u ,and u have to kill 7 zombies..., then after u walk in to, a gun shop seeing somebosy helding up a shotgun but he tells his hes ,not a zombie. then he lowers the weapon, and closes the door when u get the bullets before u know it zombies smash threw the window ,and starting eating him i suggest that u kill them and, go threw the door... u see zombies stuck in a fence knocking it! ,and once u get bullest u see a zombie coming... well i dont want to, make a big reply but o well tell me what u guys happens in the next bit!!!!!,

the movie has nothing to do with the games !
the one you just mentionned is the second game which is like a month after the first game !

the second is the continuity of the first game...
the third one has nothing to do with any of the first two games... RE: NEMESIS is a big TIME LEAK ! it is suppose to happen after the first one and before the second one... but at the end of the game, they completely vaporize the city with a nuclear bomb ! in a case like that, how come the second could happen ? so you gotta drop the third game if you want the story !

is the suite of the second game...
as CLAIRE and LEON as joined forces with her brother CHRIST against UNBRELLA !
but as soon as claire infiltrated a certain facility, she is being brought to a prison where she have to survive the horrible EXPERIMENTs that unbrella were doing there, using PRISONNERS as test subjects, the when get out, christ, leon and claire find the HQ of umbrella and put an end to their evil plans !

RE 5 : SURVIVOR
this is more of a side quest about a guy that survived RACCON CITY while it was being destroyed by the ZOMBIEs... the guy escaped by helicopter, but the helicopter crashed landed in a nearby city, which proved to be infested like RACCOON city was ! proving that raccoon city wasn't the only city which was tested in !

see, sofar the story of the games goes like this...
first = prelude
second = hero's arrival
fourth = Final Battle

third = ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
fifth = SIDE STORY

the other RE that camed out are all ALTERNATE UNIVERSE now... they all basically change the stories in a way or the other and cannot be placed into the original plot !

here is a little trivia for yall. did yall know that in the matrix chow yun fat was posed to be morpheus instead of lawerence fishburn. but chow yun fat turned down the offer.

i think its cool to turn games into movies.... sometimesthey give u a better understanding of the game....the resident evil movie was goodand captured the game well.sometimes the movies dont capture what the games about and suck... like finalfantasy the movie... that movie sucked
