i've have played lotsa people who run cable modem...and no matter weather im hosting or they are hosting...there is unfair lag in their advantage...it does not matter wich mode you use Turbo or Normal...the cable users are always dealing more damage and always a second ahead of the standard dial up users.

ADVICE TO DIAL UP USERS
When you are challanged by some one with a ping of less than 600, I have found are cable users..and that you should choose "Normal Mode"...if your opponents ping is between 700-1000 then you are more than likely fighting a dial up user...and you can freely choose either "Normal"or"Turbo" mode..and you should experience a fairly even game...If your opponents ping is greater than 1000,then you are usualy fighting some one from afar. And i have found that selecting "Turbo Mode" some times can give you a very unfair advantage in these cases...im still experimenting with this whole issue..but dial up users please give my advice a try for a week and tell me if you see a differance in your winning streak....and if you fight a cable user and win,and they want a rematch...Decline them, because they will choose turbo mode and mop the floor with ya.(provided they have any skill at all)..more advice:ask some one to tell you what your ping is..and when some one challanges you if there ping is lower than yours..then the game in running to their advantage and you should choose normal mode.

Unless I am confused and you are saying Cable has got it worse I would have to disagree. If I face certain people on Turbo the are teleporting like mad do to lag. Sometimes some Ryu player deal out 3 Shinkuu Hadoukens for the Super Bar of one. I think we have it worst, because since we have a faster connection we are always having to wait for the information to transfer to other modems.

dont get me wrong im not dissin' cable users..it isnt their fault that there is lag...but maybe TMy could impliment some thing to even the playing field more.*cough* localize the chat.*cough* or maybe make the chat rooms Modem sensitive...this is advise for Dial up users and not a diss to cable users...im also not saying lag is fair on either persons end...then again this game runs terrific on a fast 56k computer...maybe to eliminate lag the game should be designed to be processor sensitive, and run at the slower players processor speed...(i dunno im not a programer,im just an idea guy  )

I've just read this and I'm about to try it...I will reply with my results later...Well, time to test this....so high ping say yes....low ping....say no.... (I'm a dial-up user)

I have cable, and I think that it is usually against cable users when there is lag in a game. I have not fought against a single person who's ping stayed low. It always went above and beyond 3000 and it started to seem more like I was playing a Dragonball Z game, with the opponent popping out everywhere firing gigantic beams at me. Against another cable user and it isn't so bad, but there are still high ping problems.

lol, thats funny......I don't have a problem with lag most of the time.....but I have a problem with the game freezing up...the one where you get a box saying "Sync lost waiting for other player" I have lost matches like that because I exit out of them....rarely has it happened that if I wait about 1-4 minutes, the game resumes....but it takes too long so I exit most of the time.....

Localizing the game playing will limit the different players you can play. I live in Melbourne, Australia and I know most players are in America, therefore I wouldn't be able to play them and they wouldn't be able to play me.......:(

Onslaught:Look for a topic i wrote in the new feature section called "Localizing the chats"..i answered a few questions in that topic that people had about localizing the chat...TMy asked for peoples input on the topic as well...so check it everybody and say what ya think about the idea...and we may get something similar to it some time in the future.

Onslaught 12-28-2001 09:55 PM

Did you come up with this idea of TMyApp did? ;)

nosoul4evr 12-28-2001 10:23 PM

i wrote the post so....yeah i came up with the idea

Lefty had a similar/same idea..but this was a long time before i joined the group in October.

Why didn't he post it? Less time would be wasted and maybe this idea would've turned into reality!

nosoul4evr 12-29-2001 01:46 AM

i did post it...do a search for "localizing the chat" it is in the new features section of the forum...id post you a link here but the last time i did that TMy deleted the post.

Onslaught 12-29-2001 08:33 PM

I tried three times, said there were no results (is the search reliable???).

its actually the people with cable that are at a disadvantage because some (not all) people with other kinds of modem have worse lag which causes them to teleport on scrren and gives them an advantade
