Ok heres how i got to the web site. I decided to play one of the aol java games so that i could play one of the free games. So when I tried to play one of the games it said something about my aol browser had been coruppted and i need to install another broswer.So I decided that hey the information that I got from Inclusive (download junky topic) about http://www.download.com would be helpful to me. So i went to the web site and i tried to download a free internet browser. I downloaded this browser called Oopera 6.0 and installed it to my computer. Now the only thing i have to do to be able to play java games and shockwave games on my computer is download this thing called JRE 1.2 to Oopera 6.0. Thanks for the info on the site!

Oh and i also downloaded this internet browser called Netscape 6. Its really good.

What are some of the benefits of these downloadable browsers? Im thinking bout downloading some stuff but i wanna know which thing would be the best thing to download.

are you guys new to the internet or something..

well a good internet browser would be Netscape. It looks really good.

Think i should take a class on the internet,(ive only been on for two years) I have learned a great deal but i need more.

No im not new to the internet, its just like how subzero said, i like to download stuff that will improve my computers performance and get things done faster.

The very first web browser was written by Tim Berners-Lee, while at CERN (a European center for physics research). The first web browser to capture the public's imagination was Mosaic, which was written by Marc Andreessen and other undergraduate students at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in the United States. Most of that group went on to form the core of Netscape Communications Corporation.

But I can add that Netscape use to not be free, and Internet Exploroer was free, and Netscape got mad, but now both are free, and each operate diffrently, but it's like the Apple Mac and PC, most poeple own a PC (use IE) but there is always that smaller cult that follows the other.
