Since alot of people are saying they wish they could play so and so, in such a game, cause they would kick their asses, I have this question to ask...

what game *really* requires skill and mastery to play?

my honest opinion is that is was street fighter 2 turbo, and heres why...

NO...
air blocks
super jumps
super moves
helpers
...and im sure theres more i havent mentioned...

the point is, that game was tough. You couldn't rely on super moves to save your hide...

the game was simple compared to all the stuff thats avaiblable for use now, but man, did it require skill!

now you can just power up your super bar, use it and smoke someone with one move!

example: in marvel vs. capcom 2, in order to take off 1/4 of the guys health, all you needed to do was d,df,f + 2 punches with ryu. Its a basic motion that any capcom player would know how to do.

now compare that with sf2turbo...you could take off a 1/4 of a guys health in one swoop, BUT you need expert timing to combo that much health away...the best example was guiles 14 hitter...sure it took off 70% of the guys health, but you had to be perfect at that game to pull it off..

im sure that anyone who played that far back into the street fighter series would agree...

shit, most of us who played that and were good, knew the timing of all of our favorite characters animations...WE NEEDED TO...cause to get the timing down for the combos, you had to know it.

but hey, thats just my opinion  what do you guys think, and why?

you bring a point but then again all you had to do in that is trap them in a coner is you want me to be honest then i will

SF ALpha 2 hands down

Cuz you could counter specails and retaliate with in 2 seconds and double up on hyper combos

Zing79 10-19-2001 08:49 AM

thats exactly one of my points...

theres reversals to reversals, etc, etc, etc..It never ends!

in st2turbo, you had to think about every move you made, cause once you commited to it, you were stuck with it...if you just stupidly jumped for no reason, then more than likely you were going to eat something on the way down....thats just another example.

and actually that corner trap is bs...with any player it was possible to play a super defensive game against overly aggresive guys by simply staying in the corner, and blocking...

If I ever had a beef with that game it was that tactic...because it was possible to sit in the corner and still win...but that wasn't something a good player couldn't get around either...

dude you made a poin5t but then again it was so much slower of a game less freedom the all time hardest fighting game that is fast and takes emence skill SOUL caliber

TMyApp 10-19-2001 09:49 AM

you're all wrong, the MOST challenging game ever is MvsC

why u ask ?? simple, because you couldn't just set the game to "auto block/play" for you.. AND, if on "auto", you couldn't have just ANY kid masing the buttons to do the super moves without the ever so-simple QC motion... yeah... those were the good'ol days....

The hardest game is Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. This is the game where you can't do the same mothin with all the people to win a game. You fireball to death in this game you would be killed.

Zing79 10-19-2001 01:22 PM

never played the newest version of sf3...
but if what ur sayind is true selvin, then thank god capcom went back to old school, and made it impossible for button mashers to do well..
:)

Speakin of that

IBUKI is the best second is yin and yang

Selvin 10-19-2001 05:23 PM

At least you and me know how to use the twin dragons. By the way it is Yun and Yang. Sorry, but in that game they are my best. I saw yang is better, because his combo's and supers are devestaing.

10-19-2001 05:34 PM

no offence but they are the same type of character

i love there specails they are fuckin wicked

Selvin 10-19-2001 05:46 PM

Once again I shall compare:

Yang: Super Combos
I - Raishin Mahhakken x1
II - Tenshin Senkyutai x2
III - Sei'ei Enbu x1

Yun: Super Combos
I - You Hou x1
II - Sourai Rengeki x3
III - Gen'ei Jin x1

They look different to me.

IMO.. I say MvC2.. because of the infinites and stuff... you can die easily against a chipper..combos more difficult than air launch p,k,p,k,hp/hk... regarding that qcf + 2punches thing with ryu... you'll get killed by experts.. AHVB will beat the shit out of Ryu lol... there are other reasons why I believe MvC2 takes the most skill... but oh well...and off topic.. I think MvC had cool music ^_^...

TMyApp 10-19-2001 09:27 PM

hmm.. i guess no one picked up my sarcasm (even though i was laying it on THICK)

Zing79 10-19-2001 10:13 PM

so then do you agree with me TMyApp?

It seems like your an old schooler like myself that knows the skill it took to be the shit in SF2T
