i look around the forum, and what do i see? people who joined last month who have a higher "rank" than me. Not that i care about rank, but its kinda sad when someone new has more posts than a 1 year veteran. Heres an example:

notice anything wrong there? there is NO excuse to average 10 posts per day. Guys, we really dont care about rank. TarkanX is justified in having over 2000 posts; someone who joined 3 months ago is NOT.


In fact, because of this, i would like to ask that Rank be COMPLETLY REMOVED, OR, structured so that an avg. post per day over 7 LOWERS your rank.

This is completely out of control. And I also feel that if nothing else changes, then the posts in Random Insanity should be treated differently than the ones in XMvsSF Forum.

Just so you guys know, i feel that ideal is between .4 and 3.5 posts per day. Less is ok if you are the quiet type, a LITTLE more is fine as long as you're a respected member who helps people out, but higher than 6 per day and you're just spamming.

but most of the time, increase in the number posts came from flamings, random insanity comments, FAQ's of new members and such which is unavaoidable ;)

you're avg posts per day is a LITTLE high, but im not refering to you at all. avg 10 posts per day is UNACCEPTABLE.

I joined last October, my posting average is around, 1.5 posts per day.(might be a little higher)

This is the second topic i have answered to today...and will probably be my last one for the day.

I suggested the ranking system be done away with as well.
Or be based off the duration of time the member has been with the forum.

Or a total restructure of the forum ranking system.
There could be only a few ranks here in the forum,instead of a bunch.

If normal members have only one title they can achieve above N.o.o.b. (i/e: Member) by posting alot....then they will quickly lose interest in spamming the forum to achieve a higher rank.

I can't recall, but can Ikonboard support limiting posts per day for those below a certain rank? I know that the GameFAQs forums can do that, but I don't remember even checking if Ikonboard can do that back when I helped run Senshuk.

dan, thats a great idea. It works pretty well in gamefaqs, but then, Gamefaqs is a VERY different kind of community. Even if Ikonboard doesnt support it, they could maybe use the different "group" priveleges (ie, mods are able to post where we're not, and VIPs may be able to also).

Btw--im glad that SOME people have low posts per day.

viper I 100% agree with you. My post avg is 0.78 an I joined in August this year. It doesn't make any since to be a senior member in a matter of weeks.

For people who spam just to try to look cool with your high ranks, you're only making yourself look more like a noob than you did when you had the title.

It's a good idea, I love it, but you have to look at the negatives of the outcome if this is approved.

Since theres a lock-out post, what if theres a topic about a debate, and this is a topic to really debate about, are you just going to post 4 posts, and then wait a day?

There has to be an easy way of checking out the member level of the person. Getting rid of the post count was a big step. I say we keep the member levels.

although there are some members who joined ages ago, they are not participating enough in this forum thats why they only get that kind of membership (few stars) as you call it.

It looks bad when some one joins and immediately begins posting 10 times per day. But you may not be spamming; just as a rule of thumb, 10 posts per day is pretty high.

10 posts per day is actually a small amount. stop bitchin. no one is spamming because they post alot that is totally false. maybe its just cause r not on when good topics are going on. theres lots of stuff to talk about as long as u dont spam theres no problem with having a bunch of posts in 1 day

1 - when i see topics of my interest, i talk in them, and somtimes, there is lots of topic that i like.
2 - debates eventually brings you in and makes you post more then 10 posts a day
3 - CHAT like discussion, like this one, because you are on, i am too, we talk much, and we post more then 10 post in the same topic !
4 - just like me, there is lots of people that LOVES talking about different things. so people like SELVIN that used to have about 1000 post up in a simple 3 months. he wasn't caring about ranks, he was just loving to give his opinion on every single thing. just like me some times !

i have a little over 6 posts per day so would u say i am a spammer. i thinknot. if u saying 10 post per day is a lot then do u think 6 is alot? 10 seems pretty small to me. and why ban those people? .. its not a good enough reason. if they had 10 posts per day that were total spams then u can ban em but if there not really spamming its all unnecessary

Whatever it is... your forum rank is just based on # of posts per day, nothing elaborate... just trying to show your "total xvssf activity" in the period of time you were posting here. It constitutes no further respect then a title... which has a grand total of 0.

Just learn to judge people by their posts, and not by their total posts count. As I've seen Dan say before... qualitative, not quantitative.
