I downloaded all the files and unzipped sfo10d and stuff and when i host no one can join! I don't get it why can't people join if i host?!?! they always say they get the usual error on me not other but me. If anyone knows why anyone can't join my game plz reply here! It's bad for me and urgent! I don't like joining games..................................
P.s- I checked the FAQ...no answer for me there. :( |

try to open up port 1626 on your router... it did not work for me but it may work for you...
|
If you are behind a router, you can forget about ever beig able to host. If it is a fire wall then uninstall it or something like that just talk to Nefron666.
|
i think u might have to go to :
Options,Network, then click =i am behind a firewall or proxy, then i think u click old connection for firewalls  cant host behind a router  Edited By Bob~Marley4004 on Feb. 26 2004 at 20:10 |
if you are on a router/firewall you can host...but no1 will ever be able to join your games...their might be a chance that you can do port forwarding from the router to your comp but that hasn't worked for any1...so you will only be able to join games...never host :( join the club...

umm what makes you think you have an icon if you have a router...if you have a software firewall than it will show a lock icon with your connection in the network area but not on the desktop or system tray |

actually... WINDOWS XP comes with an INTEGRATED FIREWALL that is by default active. it won't show int he taskbar, nor in the system tray !
only way to deactivate it, is to go into the network options, right click on your internet connection and deactivate it int he firewall tab ! but i doubt it to be your problem since i am on XP and it works fine ! (i always host games) a ROUTER, since no one told you about it and you seem to be the kind of guy who don't know what it is. is a little box besides your computer where you can plug your own network on it, it also serves for high speed internet in case ya want it on a home network ! if you see a box other then your internet modem ! then you got a router, it is possible to configure it so you can free ports. if you open them up in your router's firewall... the router won't be anything to bother with again, it will give you internet and the firewall will allow you to host, join games ! but if you are behind a simple software firewall (aka XP one) then just configuring it to free and open the 1626 port would solve the thing ! there are a few things you can try if this isn't what you are best for... theses are all found in the game int he network tab in the options. - try playing the game on port 80 or 21 ! (80 is for browsing so its always open. 21 is for FTP so it is always open aswell) 50% of working -try checking "i am behind a firewall" 10% of working - try the old connection mode 1% chance of working that's about it... hope you are lucky. good luck man ! |
