I think we should have small weekly tournaments, maybe on the weekends, and the winner will recieve a prize of 1000 pts? what do you guys think?
|
i agree with mvc but the prize shouldnt be that many points though.
|
yea it be too easy to get a high rank if some one won. Mabe 50 or 100?

No pts. Like Tmy sead Prize!

Interesting idea... but somebody needs to organize the tournament each week, and host it each week. Who can do that? Whoever does it can't participate for obvious reasons.
Don't look at me! I'm very busy right now. |
Dont look at me im just a hard_ass looking for a fight!
|
if you think you are number 1 try me and i will make you number325698741236000

To be honest, I would organize everything and all, but I think this is a Really bad idea...
So, I say NO! |
what kind of prize?
|
Well, if we were to have some kind of a prize, that would be cool, but the points thing is a little too bad of an Idea...
|
I like this idea, because it would be nice to see people with true skill hold the top spots in the rank, and not just n00b killers. I'm not excusing myself, I've been down that road before, but let's just say that I realized how...pointless it was. The only way #1 can stay at #1 is to kill n00bs, and lots of them (and if you're not willing to do it to stay on top, someone else surely is). It's the same way with most of the top 10ers, unless they are lucky enough to catch a fight with someone ranked higher than them when they are playing. Why should 'The Best' have to bust their asses just to stay on top? Isn't that what the top scores are supposed to be about in the first place, to see who 'The Best' is? If this idea were to be implemented, surely the most skilled players would participate, so you would still have to earn those points. If there were weekly (or perhaps even bi-weekly) mini-tournaments, this would eliminate 2 of my biggest problems with this game.
1. N00bkillers stay on top 2. I would finally have a challenge. But I would also like to propose that 2nd and 3rd prize be awarded 500 and 200 points, respectively. Excellent idea, MVC2. |
Excatly Troy88. If you have ever been in the top 3 like myself. You will know how hard it is to keep that rank. The only people that you can fight are the other 2 that is above you, but odds are you, You will hardly ever see them. let alone fight them. So all the while you are stuck having to fight noobies. Basically, you have to play EVERY SINGLE DAY and fight endless amounts of noobies to hold your position, while people who are like ranked 100 can shoot up to rank 5 or something with just 3 fights.
Also, this gives people who dont or can't play everyday because of school or a job. but have true skills. an opprotunity to gain fast points. instead of working his way up by fighting noobies. And another thing... this would be a GREAT BREAK from the day to day fights. I mean, you come in the room and challenge theh same people over and over again and you would either wins some or lose some matches. but these matches dont hold any kind of weight.. i mean a lost would just mean 10pts,and you would just ask the guy for the rematch - nothing really significant. But a lost in a tournament is different. I remember being in the last tournament and losing a match, i almost felt like crying. and man, that match seemed like the most IMPORTNANT thing in my life at that moment.I got such a high.. i want that feeling again. BTW. this post will be in the general section as well. (Edited by MVC2 at 2:35 am on April 19, 2002) |
Well, I guess you're both right...
I haven't thought of it that way... But then again.. some really, I mean REALLY, skilled people could go in the tourney, win the tourney and go back to fighting newbies... And if they're that damned good, then they would just win a tourney every week and never ever give you a fight again... And, if there's a really really skilled fighter, he won't have a problem doing that... That's +1000 everyweek then all other 6 days, its back to fighting newbies... (Couldn't that also happen?, If you give me some better reason, then I will say its a good idea..) |

I can vouche for him(since I'm in his clan)
MVC had almost the exact same idea that Pro had. but anyway, hopefully someone will get it started. |
