Note: Before 2001, John Madden Football did not have NFL players on its cover. It just had a picture of John Madden himself.

okay... as you sports ppl should know, rumors are talking about there is a Madden Curse..

It seems like there is one.. it all started on Madden 2000.. the first person to get on the front cover of a Madden Game...

Eddie George- Season: 2000
Stats: 2000 403 Rush, 1509 Yds, 14 TD
TEAM RECORD: 13-3 1st Place

Notes- George's curse came in 2001 where he failed to break 1000 yards and Tennessee went 7-9. (Madden Year:2001)


Michael Vick- Season: 2003
Stats: 585 Yards, 4 TD, 3 INT
TEAM RECORD: 5-11 4th Place

Notes- Vick missed the first 11 games with a broken leg. Vick's QB rating, comp pct, and yards per attempt were all down from 2002. (Madden Year:2004)

Daunte Culpepper- Season: 2001
Stats: 2612 Yds, 14 TD, 13 Int
TEAM RECORD: 5-11 4th Place

Notes- Culpepper missed 4 games with injury, threw for 1300 less yards and 19 less TD's then in 2000. Minnesota's worst record since 1984. (Madden Year: 2002)

Marshall Faulk- Season: 2002
Stats: 212 Rush, 953 Yds, 8 TD
TEAM RECORD: 7-9 3rd Place

Notes- Despite playing the same amount of games, Faulk rushed for 430 less yards and had 4 less TD compared to 2001. Faulks worst season since 1996. Rams scored only 16 more points then their 1996 team who had Tony Banks at QB and Lawrence Phillips at RB.
2002 Daunte Culpepper 2001 2612 Yds, 14 TD, 13 Int 5-11 4th Place Culpepper missed 4 games with injury, threw for 1300. (Madden Year: 2003)

I still say that Ray Lewis is a cocky bastard. I can't stan him or the ravens. Last year the Dolphins shut them down to 9 points.

Man, you shouldn't be forced to buy a new game every year. There should be a way to download recent stats and player rosters on the internet so as that if you have purchased one version of the game, then you are set for all the upcoming releases. I know this makes absolutely no sense on a marketing stand point, but it would deffinitly be more user friendly.

Well, if you have/play Madden Online.. you get the lastest rosters.. i just got my updated roster.. with the new changes.. (i/e:Eddie George with cowboys)

Cowboys might go all the way this year... they have a good defense.. and what k johnson and others.. and don't forget about the coach.. PARCEL or w/e.. hes a good coach...

well usally if youlook online u can find the ingame stats so u can keep your madden up to date, i got madden 2001 and it's all the way up to the end of last season. but i don't kno if i will update it this year cuz the chiefs got a lot of bad rookies this year, and they played the giants and were up most of the first half but they didn;t score at all the second half!!! (i'm from kansas if ya didn't kno)

On each madden there are differences.. you see, madden is something like SFO.. they have glitches in madden... (you would know if you play madden online)

I had plays on Madden 04 that you COULD NOT stop.. because they were "GLITCH" plays.. in general, cheat plays.. LOL

Also, each madden has something different.. from franchise mode to tackles.. there is the NEW ESPN RADIO in franchise mode.. and alot more features.. as stated, the new defense controls.. which lets you do alot of things, blitz your right line backer or left line backer.. crash your d-line to the right or left... make them follow a toss play... all kind of stuff... its a real good game man

Yeah those new features would be the only thing keeping the madden community ( and any other sporting video game) coming back and purchasing new versions of the game. However, I believe it is fair to say that the prices for video games are atrocious. but i understand what you are saying bob, with each year comes new glitches as well as corrected formats of older glitches.

Thing is, I saw the report on ESPN and thought about posting who ppl preferred... not Madden.. but the Alien vs Predator.. rock on :biggrin:

Anyway, yeah.. it is scary and it has made Michael Vick turn into a superstisious wombat.. not cutting his hair and wishing whoever winds up in the cover good luck.

but to be honest with you, I don't think there's a "Madden curse".. it's just crap. And dominicankid098, putting the Patriots there wouldn't stop them from being as dominant as they were last season. However, I doubt if they'll repeat the feat and win this super bowl.

Just put it this way.. there is no curse. Those last 3 guys just experienced unfortunate injuries and had bad seasons. Players have bad seasons sometimes.. and you can't blame it on some game cover.. so there :biggrin:

i got madden 2005 its tight as hell get it whuahaha
