princevegetam 09-17-2002 05:43 PM

:hmmm: there is already a similar topic regarding this matter, plz do not make repetitive posts

SSJKarma 09-17-2002 06:38 PM

like i already said in the other topic like that one !

YOU CAN'T COMPARE GAMES WITH TV SHOWS !

it's just not the same. games are played by people who with their skill decide the outcome of a fight... tv shows are just images that are drawn and there is nothing you (the person who see it) can do to alter it ! it just happen !

both are good, they have both actions but you really can't compare something who are totally different ! it's like comparing orange with potatoes !

Nantuko Joe 09-18-2002 10:04 AM

So, we can compare the XMvsSF game with the numerous DBZ games for PSX and Super Famicom.

But either way, I still say DBZ kix ass

SSJKarma 09-18-2002 12:14 PM

nantuko joe ?

the nantuko joe !
man, glad your back... it has been a long time now !

i guess i haven't thought about the games on snes and all when i said you can't compare games to TV shows ! but it doesn't really change my way of thinking since they don't have the same engines ! but it's true that DBZ - super butouden 2 and 3 kick ass ! Final Bout would have but they entirely changed the concept so it's a just a decent game ! UB22 was great (i never played but i saw movies of it)

VS series...
well, XMvsSF and MSHvsSF were great !
but MvsC was just not the same concept at all. it is a great game tho, but still i think they started to get a little too big ! the second one was better in certain point but i really loved the 2-on-2 without a third or any helpers !

conclusion:
DBZ kick ass
XMvsSF kick ass

but they have their weak point like all other games !
but i really loves XMvsSF a little more...
those who want a true DBZ fighting game.
go check out DRAGONBALL Z - M.U.G.E.N EDITION 2
not the first one it was way too buggy but the second one is the greatest DBZ game ever created !

DARKPICCOLO 09-18-2002 02:32 PM

DBZ rox.....but they should have made Piccolo the main character LOL :D

Dan Hibiki 09-18-2002 04:55 PM

Hmm... let's have the debate about DBZ versus SF here besides the fact that there is another topic with this material in it. Anybody with a sense of dignity and respect want that topic locked.

princevegetam 09-18-2002 05:18 PM

well, tarkan x was the only guy who could argue a resonable point on the sf part, now there is no one who can defend sf with a reasonable amount of evidence.

well here is my arguement against sf:

there have been many times in the dbz show(and most likely manga) where we see characters get punched or thrown into gigantic rocks, mountains, ground, etc. and yet they often emerge alive. i do not think any sf character can withstand such a tremendous punishment.

Dan Hibiki 09-18-2002 06:09 PM

Some SF characters could, namely Akuma (specifically Akuma actually giving a damn about the fight, a.k.a. Shin Akuma) and Ryu (specifically from SFIII: 3rd Strike). My reasoning for these two is Akuma's obvious power demonstrated in his ability to single-handedly sink an island with a powerful blow to it (SFA2 ending), and Akuma's intense training that he undergoes, including remaining submerged for hours at a time, destroying mountains, and obliterating any innocents that get in the way. I say Ryu as well because it is said that in SFIII: 3rd Strike Ryu has reached the strength he would have if he actually gave into the Satsu no Hadou and became Evil Ryu (which, by the way, is a what-if character; Evil Ryu existed for a split second in SF (one) when his need to win (for the only time in his life) was too great and he gave into Satsu no Hadou to Shin Shoryuken Sagat in the chest, giving him the brutal scar... whew).

I feel that M. Bison/Vega (Vega is Bison's Japanese name) and Gill could survive such hits... but not M. Bison/Vega that appears in the SFII Turbo series, but to understand what I mean, you need to know some of M. Bison's/Vega's (henceforth called M. Bison) story.

Initially M. Bison had both pure and evil. After discovering Psycho Power (and its ability to enhance strength based on the amount of evil a person has), M. Bison split himself into two selves: M. Bison, as seen in the SFA series, and Rose, also seen in the SFA series. Rose is the pure good side of Bison; she seeks his destruction. Bison wants nothing to do with rose, for he is pure evil.

Towards the end of SFA3 everything is going wrong with Bison's plans. Ryu was not suitable for Bison to possess (he seeks a body that can take more psycho power than his own can), Sagat and company snapped Ryu out of it, Bison suffered a vengeful Shin Shoryuken to his face from Ryu, Charlie was ordering air strikes all over the damn place on his Shadaloo base, Chun Li was planting high-explosives around the perimeter, and Cammy and the other dolls (long story, they were going to be bodies to transfer to to try to have more psycho power and were female clones of Bison) had achieved individuality and broken Bison's psychic grip on them and were plotting against him and escaping in the carnage. Somebody, though, shows up on the scene that saves M. Bison... Rose. Rose had come to kill Bison, but because Rose and Bison were once the same person, Bison was able to possess her, discarding his old and severely mangled, near-dead body. Bison escapes, both halves united, rendering his psycho power, which works best with pure hatred, weak.

In the SFIIT series M. Bison's scientists finally develop a suitable male body for Bison to possess. He ditches Rose's body and immediately plots against those who defeated him. Things don't work right, however... before the final match (or immediately after, iffy there), Akuma sees Bison. Akuma senses his strength and decides to test him... and wouldn'tcha know it that Akuma tests people with the Shun Goku Satsu. All of the people Bison killed, and all of Bison's past deeds came back on him and instantly sent his soul to Hell, killing him instantly. Oops.

Now, as for Gill, Gill is a genetic freak... a God of sorts to his followers with control over the elements of fire and ice. Gill could take the #### easy.

So, there you have it... my long-winded explanation on why Akuma and Ryu can take the pain, and why M. Bison and Gill may be able to.

If anybody wants the full story on what happens in the SF storyline regarding M. Bison and the rise and fall of Shadaloo (complicated ####, I REALLY abridged it here), then request it and I'll create a post with it in it for this section.

princevegetam 09-18-2002 07:49 PM

but there is no actual proof that anyone you talked about has ever survived such an attack. and i can use your own philosphy to justify dbz's superiority. if most of the saiyans in the dbz series have enough ki in their bodies to blow up planets, then they are bound to be powerful enough to destroy sf characters, since no sf character has an equal amount of power. you say that akuma can destroy mountains and the intensity of his training is good enough, but i would argue that goku has trained under 100x earth's normal gravity and vegeta has trained under 400x earth's normal gravity(and this is all long before they reached their full potential at the end of dbz).

Dan Hibiki 09-18-2002 08:54 PM

??? Let us just debate using the DBZ characters as they are in the Vegeta saga for now, and then gradually move up to see exactly where things go awry for SF.

If Akuma can sink an island with a single strike of his hand, then his energy can most likely do some SERIOUS damage if he unleashed the total amount on the land. Here's something to think about, too...

Do you know why DBZ energy blasts can destroy planets? It certainly isn't because it is powerful enough to do it on its own. The largest blast made by an actual explosive attack was Vegeta's Ultimate Skill (literal translation), where he self-destructed himself. The crater was about 1km wide.

DBZ energy blasts can destroy planets because they are made to penetrate stone and hit the CORE. Hitting the core with a huge blast of energy throws EVERYTHING out of whack, from magnetic fields to tectonic plates. It starts a tectonic meltdown of the planet, eventually resulting in a massive explosion as the energy in the middle of the planet from the blast detonates itself. So you see, it is all about location of the blast that determines its ability to destroy planets.

Now then, let us begin with the Vegeta saga...

Raditzu
SF has the edge on DBZ. Using Shin Akuma as the SF posterboy, think of Tensou Kaireki Jin. That thing can destroy entire boats in a single swipe with ease. If you don't know Tensou Kaireki Jin, it is his SFIII: 3rd Strike super where he raises his hand, and then karate chops with a burst of his patented purple energy going everywhere.

Vegeta
Shin Akuma still has the advantage here. Reasoning here is that he would be able to see everything coming and evade it with his teleport move. They aren't moving so fast as to be out of detection for him.

Ginyu
Even. Shin Akuma could take the Ginyu force (once again the teleportation deal), and Ginyu himself could take Shin Akuma.

Techincally, Akuma could take ANY, and absolutely, inarguably ANY villian in DBZ PERIOD. Shun Goku Satsu is not based on power, but on the target's past deeds. Shun Goku Satsu would send anybody, from Vegeta to Furiza, from Cell to Buu, to Hell for a moment, and kill them instantly. M. Bison didn't do #### compared to those guys, and he was insta-killed.

So, in conclusion...

Akuma > DBZ characters who have done evils
Akuma <= DBZ characters who have not done evils
Other SF <= DBZ characters regardless

So, rather than debate as a whole is DBZ or SF is better, I say we split the debate up into targeting specific DBZ and SF characters from specific times in the respective series, like SFII Ryu versus DB Goku (1st tournament).

Akuma owns everyone.

princevegetam 09-19-2002 01:08 PM

plz do not try to arguement when you can't seem to debate back. first answer my questions from my previous post, then answer my arguments in this post.

where did you get the info that akuma can destroy island with single strike of his hand(i would like to know the liability your source)? and about that destroying core thing, scientifically, your arguement doesn't seem realistic. why would the core explode after being hit with an energy that can barely destroy anything for a radius of 1km, which has already weakened from it's path through the earth's mantle? to hit the earth's core, the blast would have to travel more than 100,000 km to the earth's center. and why can't akuma blow up the earth? if he has a stronger power then, he should also be able to create a hadoken of some sort that penetrates the earth's mantle into the core.

Raditz(i'm using american names cause i don't really care about japanese names):

who said raditz couldn't destroy boats with ease? he caught that farmer's bullet and flicked it back at the farmer. just the force from his thumb muscles sent the bullet through the farmer's body and into the truck behind, which actually moved the truck. then later, he punched into the truck, lifted it up and blew it up into dust with little effort. there was also that time when he fired those two blasts at piccolo and goku, which made an enormous explosion on the side of a mountain.

Vegeta:

okay, that cheap teleportation move has got me there, but i have a theory, that might not be true. we have all seen many times in the dbz series where the character moves so fast that we can't see them, would this not mean that they are moving at the speed of light(or even faster)? if we can't see them, then wouldn't that mean light cannot reflect off their bodies fast enough for us to see?

Ginyu:

plz explain more about this Shun Goku Satsu, is it a beam? a physical attack? how does it kill the opponent?

Dan Hibiki 09-19-2002 01:49 PM

princevegetam, get an attitude and I'll leave you to talk to ######s about this.

If you had read my post completely you would have realized through logical deduction that I dropped trying to prove that SF is OUT-RIGHT stronger than DBZ by me trying to find out where things went wrong.

I'll try to e-mail you the document that I got via website via TarkanX tomorrow, because I am about to leave for college.

On Raditzu: I never said that they couldn't. I said that Akuma could. And Akuma did it with ease, too.

On Vegeta: can't hit somebody you can't touch. Teleport. Attack. Rinse, lather, repeat.

The Shun Goku Satsu is also known as the Instant Hell Murder or Raging Demon. It is where Akuma slides at the opponent, brabs them, and both of them are taken down to Hell for a split second when the screen turns black (or white, it depends on the game). The past deeds of the target come back to haunt them; the worse things done by the person the more damage it deals. M. Bison did hardly anything compared to these genocide-happy villians in DBZ, and he was insta-killed by it. No villian would stand a chance against it, and Akuma teleports through anything sent at him when he does it, rendering counter-attack to people who haven't seen it impossible.

QUIET_KILLER 09-19-2002 02:18 PM

Wow guyz are good with the namez and stuff.I understand every thing thatz being talked about..Now I know why I like akuma so much:biggrin: I will vote for all good.I mean itz just a game. This also an awesome topic this for fun If I can remember right guyz. However you know I would love to be able to memorize every detail name about the characterz.I have to wonder though I had heard that Akuma had the same attack as Ryu.Except that it was called darkshinhadoukenbeam or blast. You guyz should know what I am talking about cuz ryu does the super so does Akuma so I was told.Hey I mean they did train under the same master. He then left to find more martial artz knowledge. He found a secret old form of dark martial artz.Anywho? never mind I will be Interrogated by mister VegetamY.i will not ask a ? that could possible not be explained or ever heard of.Fo get it aight pplz. ??? :D

SSJKarma 09-19-2002 04:55 PM

there is just one thing VEGETAM that you seem not to understand about DBZ...
i will just say, don't get down to just what you "SEE" but have caused that to happen !

example:
goku trained under 100x gravity = true
but he also started at normal gravity then get up little by little or his body would have been crushed too bits

so, "IF" ryu had done the same thing then he would have the same strenght as goku had after that same training !

now, onto the "KI" thing...
this has only a STRENGHT base !
what does that mean ? simply that akira toriyama used THEIR KI to "ENHANCE" their own power. meaning that "IF" we get ryu to have that much ki he could be as strong as goku. now akira has made their ki going stronger not their actual strenght. while goku has a ki oversized, ryu has a normal ki. so he cannot rival goku in the fact that goku has KI to make him win !

conclusion...
only techniques can be compared cause the creators have made DIFFERENT universe for them ! Goku's universe make KI going stronger not their actual strenght. ryu's universe is more REAL cause it is actually based on pure strenght ! not ki ENHANCED

but that's "just my 2 cents !"
oh no, now i'm talking like TarkanX

EDIT:
another example of what is said here...
VIDEL'S history
she was like a normal Fighter, as normal as ryu or zangief, but then gohan teached her what KI is and how to use it... what happen after that ? she gets stronger and stronger !

now her father "IS" the stronger "HUMAN" fighter on earth. so i really think he can beat ryu cause "THAT" would make a great fight since both know how to fight and they are normal ! but then ryu would be able to project fireballs and mR satan couldn't so ryu would have an advantage here !

that was my theori about how come we can't really compare 2 different universe !

ant_the_whore 09-20-2002 12:09 AM

dudes are these arguements really needed its a cartoon programme and an arcade game who gives who would win its not real no point in getting worked up over it for god sake.

Dan Hibiki 09-20-2002 06:56 AM

If you don't have anything to contribute, then don't post here.

Ludacris 09-20-2002 09:07 AM

both are good.........I prefer dragonball for the shows and street fighter for the games...........

princevegetam 09-20-2002 10:36 AM

oh man, i made this friggin long post and my IE has this stupid illegal operation thing, so it got screwed up.
