first, to console gamers. Any of you out there still addicted to old school SNES/N64 etc games, but the game malfunctions a lot?
I've got some good news.

The usual problem is that the connectors are just getting corroded. Cleanin em with alcohol can only do so much, but there IS a fix. You need polishing grit.

http://www.easypckits.com sells packets of 10,000 grit polishing compound (ie, theres like 10000 grains of "sand" per sq. cm!!!!) for $0.25 each plus $1 shipping. Each packet has enough stuff to clean the conectors on well over 15 games.

All you do, is get a Q-tip, wet it down, squeeze most of the water out, and dip it into the compound. Then, rub away at those connectors. Be sure to rotate the Q-tip, as it will remove a LOT of crud. Afterwards, be sure to go over the connectors with the clean side of the Q tip to remove the remainin compound.

Now, for you PC enthusiasts. Into overclocking, but need better cooling?
For like $10, you can make yer heatsink perform a LOT (ie, 5+ deg. Celsius) better

Http://www.easypckits.com mainly sells heatsink lapping kits. They are VERY effective, and maximize the connection between heatsink and processor by removing microscopic ridges and valleys, and by flattening the heatsink. Plus, it makes the heatsink shiny XD

Anywho, what about the service, you may ask...

The seller is VERY helpful, and fast. In terms of speed, he responds to emails within a day, and ships super fast. I bought a kit one day, and 2 days later, it showed up (from alabama to virginia via USPS).

I paid $4 shipping, and the US postage on the package was $3.96....he isnt makin more than pennies on shipping.

He goes out of his way to make you satisfied, and I GOTTA recommend this guy.

Any thoughts? post away

PS--if you dont buy from him, youre banned

Just do the old "Blow in the cartridge"... always got the job done. Those cartridges are durable... The only time you would want to use this compound would be if your game kept erasing.

viper2040 05-01-2004 04:04 PM

listen, blowing the game gets out dust. What about when moisture causes mildew, or corrosion, or oxidation, or just crud build up on the SNES/NES/N64 (etc) connectors?

When you gotta get off serious staining, use this shit. If the connectors on yer NES game arent shiny copper, then you have a problem (thats right, theyre not actually supposed to be green or grey or dull  )

also, i recommend opening up the case with a security bit, if you have one, to make sure the grit dont get inside and that you can get dust out.

finally, STAY on TOPIC!

EvilAkuma 05-01-2004 07:44 PM

i got that my old games still, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for SNES, Super Smash Bro. for N64, and ton's of more, I need to buy control and i'm all set to play one of my favorite games for SNES and that TOP GEAR

@Resident Evil: He means if your old system doesn't work, and u like games from old school click on those link to get some

RyusRevenge 05-02-2004 01:23 AM

hmmm i wonder where my snes has gone......but ne howz isnt there an upgrade to the xbox where it allows u to play snes, megadrive games (basically the old classics) on the xbox ???, they r supposed to be built into the memory of the console.

TarkanX 05-02-2004 08:24 AM

Hahah... I used the blow trick also, and I still do that, but I use rubbing alcohol now.

viper2040 05-02-2004 09:16 PM

sigh, NOONE is listening. What about when alcohol wont work? what you gonna do then?

SBYRD5 05-03-2004 09:46 PM

[quote:post_uid0="TarkanX"]Hahah... I used the blow trick also, and I still do that, but I use rubbing alcohol now.[/quote]
Alcohol with a Q-Tip never fails......and simply blowing on classic games never fails.

I commend your efforts though..

viper2040 05-04-2004 04:00 PM

you are wrong. I had an n64 game which i assumed was fried--wouldnt work at all. Q tip didnt work. Used the grit, now the connectors are shiny and the game works. Same happened with my friends Legend of zelda--Lttp for snes. Used the grit, got a LOT of black crud off the connectors, now the game works.

This shit goes a step beyond the alcohol, and removes stuff that DOESNT dissolve. It physically says, "hey, crud! yer ass is mine!"

TJ5 05-04-2004 04:44 PM

Thanks for the cartridge cleaning tips viper  It helped me fix up my Super Mario All-stars game.

azncat 05-08-2004 10:58 AM

wow....it helps a lot o o well.... time to get soup!

Restavega 05-10-2004 11:18 PM

Here is what gets the jump done for the NES... when you put the game in and press down, shift the game to the right while it is fully inserted. then hit the reset button. Vuola! Double Dragon 2 works fine!

~Snoopy~ 06-06-2004 03:33 PM

Yeah just like SBYRD5 said Alcohol with a Q-Tip never fails or you can just buy a cd cleaner and if you have a game with tape's like N64,sega,superN,ETC....blow in the tape and it should work if it don't then i don't know what you should do.

viper2040 06-11-2004 02:57 PM

the last 8 or so posts have been off topic. Dont let me see another one.
