Hi guys, just so you know... i am playing magic the gathering and about 2 weeks ago my local store started to turn into a DCI compatible fun place... so the FNM started two weeks ago with a booster draft which unfortunetly couldn't be on !
but last week was a standard TYPE 2 game as all FNM will be... its funny... i thought my DECK wouldn't hold his own in that tournament ! thing is... i survived the first 3 rounds and got into the 8 out of 16 people to actually fight for the first place ! ok here goes my fights... first i fight a TYPE 2 MODIFIED TNT deck, basically that deck puts up lots of mana and gets creatures of stations out for the kill ! not to mention i totally owned the guy with my proteus/charbelcher deck... so the first game goes to me easily... second game goes to him, i was mana screwed and couldn't play anything... thus i was owned ! so the second game goes to him... third and final match goes to me, changed my kill from GOBLIN CHARBELCHER to DARKSTEEL COLOSSUS and PLATINUM ANGEL... sided a few things so i can try and be more accurate against his deck. what a match, he almost killed me, but i had this platinum angel in play so even if he sucessfully brought me down to less then 0 life points... the angel kept me from dying ! 4 turns later i had to draw something for he had this creature who could destroy my platinum and if that happens i would be dead cause i was under the 1 life point bar. i draw my card, lok at my mana and play what i can to survive one more turn... i keep two lands untapped... his turn he activates his goblin replica and destroys my platinum, but wait a sec... what's that card i just drew ? yep its SQUELCH, which ables me to counter one ability and draw a card... i played it and boom game lost for him, he saysd its my turn and boom i attack him with an 11/11 trampling creature which he can't destroy nor block thus reducing him under the 0 mark... third and final game goes to me... conclusion 2 to 1 for me, i get my 3 points int he tourney for winning this round... next round wasn't tough tho it was more heavily based on luck then anything else... playing against the RED DECK WIN deck... its an all around buRN spell deck he burned my ass for the whole match until i am left with only 4 points of life out of 20 ! but then, he lacked luck, he ran out of steam and i had just started to kick his adss ! so first turn goes to me... i side and play the same strategy... unfortunetly the deck let me down, i couldn't find anything worth it... but lucky me he couldn't either... he burned me to around 2 to 4 life points against and ended up getting killed by colossus ! ending round... 2 to 0 for me, i won my second round in the tournament ! third match... hmmm... worst case scenario... i am left at the mercy of an artifact based deck with a kill that appears on turn 3 reguardless of what i do ! turn 3 comes, i am dead meat couldn't survive the blow ! second round i sided most of my 15 cards... i hate AFFINITY decks... the game doesn't go up to the third game... i get my ass handed to me 2 to 0 ! to be in the top 8 i had to win 2 of the three games and i did ! now the points doesn't count anymore... were in an old fasionned bracket type match... my first game gets me out of the tourney... well it still is a record for me, i had gone up to the top 8 which i never did before... thing is play agaist another AFFINITY DECK those are the worst with their fliping third turn kill ! first game i lost... my butt handed to me without even trying to survive (shame on me for keeping that starting hand) next game, the second one, my butt handed to me ? why not quite i had him where i wanted him to be... i sussessfully survived the turn 3 kill and placed an ISOCHRON SCEPTER in place with a ETHEREAL HAZE on it... that gave me the lockdown on his creatures and thus he couldn't kill me anymore ! unfortunetly he had a second win condition in his deck, that i knew of... shame on me i didn't do anything against it when i knew he would kill me with it... i had 7 life points, he couldn't kill me with one shrapnel blast card, he had to get two and 1 out of 4 were already gone. how was a chance for him to get both copy at the same time. i had all the time in the world to kill him with my colossus ! so i'm there waiting the only card missing for me to instant kill him... but 5 to 6 turns later, the card neede still didn't came... so i give him the turn... he draws his card, he plays it and ables him to draw another two cards... howbad could it be ? he drewboth the cards he needed , he drew two cards and both were the very same shrapnel blast ! game lost for me... 2 to 0 for him i'm out of the tourney ! i still check my next cards just to see when i would have won... guess what, the card was my next draw... how unlucky i was... and there it ended with me having only 6 points and the guy who killed me out of the tourney winning the tourney ending it with a blazing 14 points ! that's how my first FRIDAY NIGHT MAGIC tourney was up to ! guess i was more lucky then my cousin and friend... my cousin won against a deck even worst then his... and my friend never even had a chance to get points ! man... i can't wait till next friday to get my revenge on those pesky AFFINITY decks... there my worst case scenario but now that i modded my deck i am ready for them ! and you guys, what are your MAGIC THE GATHERING experiences ? |

think its stupid... well i think not... its a card game and its a great dueling system, unlike yugioh and pokemon, thou pokemon was a bit basic it still was a good game in itself... thou too basic !

LOL I sell yugioh cards to kids at my school and to card shops. I don't work and doing this makes me make more money than the average working teenager makes. I mean seriously I will try to go sell cards at a tournament, then when I run out of cards to sell I will pay a dollar, play and try to get more. I am in these kind of things for the profit. I sold all my pokemon cards for over 500 dollars way more than what I paid, I probably paid 25 at most for all of them put together. Heres an example of my profits I will take last week for example.
Went to school to this kid TONY that plays with his friends in lunch. TJ says: Hey tony, wanna buy some cards from me ? Tony says: Yeah I have 30 dollars on me. I showed him 5 cards Tony: I want 3 of the 5 TJ: Ok which ones ? Tony: Chaos Emperor Dragon, Mirror Force, BlacK Luster Soldier TJ: Ok Chaos Emperor will cost 100 dollars, Black luster will cost 70 and mirror force will be 25 By the end of the week I had 195 dollars for 3 cards, Bite meh :baaa: :cool: :D I would recommend, go to walmart buy 2 packs, sell the cards to people. It is worth it. |

There's nothin wrong with playin a card game at 24. I'm 17 and yes, I play Yu-Gi-Oh! ARG! i hate 4kids! If they didn't edited the show so much that it looks like (censored) then maybe some of us wouldn't get looked down upon by others.

Well, some people do spen that much money on cards, Especially on the Chaos Monsters. Plus the Mirror Force is out of print so its really hard to find now.

Because as long as they keep producing cards for play and the number of players keeps increasing like it is, I will always have bussiness. I do not rip people off, I offer and then they agree. If they don't agree I go down maybe 10 - 20 dollars depending on the original price. I never sold any magic the gathering cards because I never understood the worth average of them. I sold pokemon cards when they were loved, digimon when they were wanted now I sell yugioh and duel masters =/ The only one of those I actually know how to play is yugioh because when I run out of cards to sell I enter tourneys to get more. If you were to look up the three cards I named and looked at thier prices, you would know what I am talking about. People would rather buy a single card then going to buy packs because usually they only buy the packs to get that card :sly: So Mr if there was any way to show you proof of my sales I would, but for now just believe me, I have never lied to anyone on here and have no reason to =/ |
umm yea the kid dat bought cards from u for 195 is a retard and if i were to sell my yu-gi-oh cards den i would be a millionaire in ur terms...ok i played yu-gi-oh, out of fashion so i statched it in a box. aThen magic was in da rage so i bought i bkilled ppl got their cards(o and ssjkarma i knowbout platinum angel, it's the indestructable card...i have myr matrix and some other stuff that cannot be destroyed) i know i sound like a nerd but hey. Ok after that i didn't wanna play cards nomo...met the girl of ma dreams and statched away ma magic in a box also......wat if i get tired of my girl, will i statch her away in a box tooo ??? no no, so ooo and 75% of my cards in yu-gi-oh are secret rare and ultra rare and i have a total of 350 secret and 125 ultra so where does dis tony live????

look at it this way... no people would buy a card even if truly rare 3 times their original prices, at least not in my region and i doubt your luck to give you what you say you get !
you tell me its true, no problem with that, but i doubt it to be true ! as for platinum angel and myr matrix, no they are truly very destructible, they are the actual metagame and they truly are played a lot, but there is so much artifact hate now a days that its easy to get rid of them ! in any cases magic is a great game and if most of you can't even undertans my points and what i was trying to prooves here... then so be it, but i hate having this kind of opinion... i wasn't trying to start you playing this nor was i wanted to know your view on the game itself and how you think it was stupid, i was just merely expressing my joy of the cards and the experiences of the FRIDAY NIGHT MAGIC official tournament ! anyway i got another one tonight, i got a prepare for it... |
I play Magic more than 5 times a week. I'm also an official DCI Judge. Which I get paid for in cash when I judge events. It's a pretty fun experience. I've been playing since 1994. Its been a pretty long time. I like drafting a lot, but I also like type 2. In type 2 I play Green/Blue control. Which has a pretty good match against affinity. They are probly going to ban Disciple of the Vault come march 1st. If not they are planning to ban something in affinity. I can put money on the Disciple. :biggrin:

thus preparing for the game is making your deck based ont he fact that those your gonna play against are playing this and that card game ! knowing the metgame is the big deal if you don't know the metagame then play and learn it cause otherwise you won't be prepared and wont be playing much ! *** FRIDAY NIGHT MAGIC *** i got my friday night magic last friday, it was my second one. as it was supposed to be there was a tooth and nail and some affinity but to my surprise, burn decks showed up 3x what there was last week. the metagame had drastically changed meaning i wasn't prepared for it, luckily i had time before the tourney so i could rechange my deck a bit and be more prepared against what was there. a friend of mine there was metagaming a lot, he said that there was so much artifact hate int he metagame that playing artifact decks was just a waste of time ! and in fact he was true to a point. but to my surprise there wasn't so much artifact hate, let's say most of the people played artifacts but most played it creature beatdown or burn decks or combo decks ! here was my match-ups... ROUND ONE: BLUE / WHITE PROTEUS CONTROL (me) vs VIAL AFFINITY (a close friend) howbadly i started playing against my closest friend right in the start, i knew his affinity wasn't a big deal it wasn't finished... yet he defeated me 2 times out of 3 games... a shame of myself... losing to a not competed affinity... ROUND 2 : BLUE / WHITE PROTEUS CONTROL (me) vs UNKNOWN DECK A kid, i won 2-0 agianst him, he had a very weird deck i was even wondering why he was playng this tourney, my guess was that he simply wanted to play ! he played me a couple of equipment, most of which were pretty bad int hemselves ! that was both games... ROUND 3 : BLUE / WHITE PROTEUS CONTROL (me) vs BOMBERMAN TYPE 2 normally this deck is a combo deck which goes infite damage on you, but in T2 tourney there is no infinity in this deck... but the deck is pretty straight forward, you play cards and always go for the card needed against what you are playing, it what we call a utility deck, meaning its a deck ready for anything, he has a card for any kind of gameplay ! the best games i had in that night ! first game, he won... he had one creature and hitted me for 2 every turn... i could defend agianst it afew times with some creature control cards like bouncing it back to his hands and the likes, but he got me with a few spell bomb that caused me to lose 2 life if activated ! SECOND GAME... he sided out of 15 cards like 8 which were all counter spells, cause i was playing counter spells anyway so he prepared agianst me ! we started playing, unlike the first game i was pretty lucky and had my deckl layed out in a few turns only,,, unfortunetly, everytime i played something he countered it, thus i couldn't play my combo nor control his game like my deck is supposed to. how lucky i was... guess he had drawn all of his counters of his deck, even him was surprised to have drawn that many which brought him to a total of 11 counterspells drawn out of 12 in a 60 card deck ! so it ended there... 2-0 for him and boom, with only 3 points for my previous win, i ended up eliminated from the tourney ! well... it was a good lesson in itself... i thought my deck could easily play 3 colors but without my precious city of brass i couldn't play the 3 color mana base ! no i have been making the wrong choices, so now i gotta prepare myself for next friday and this time i got a few more card for the tourney so my deck will be betterly layed out and will not be as much artifact destruction as it used to be ! gotta learn from mistakes and this time i had made a big one ! back to MASTAQ... well i doubt disciple to be banned... most people are asking AETHER VIAL to be cause its that who makes the affinity so much cause the ravagers ans atogs cannot be countered but for my part i hope cranial plating to be banned ! but i agree disciple should be at least restricted to one per deck ! |

I know i was looking thru this since february 27 i wa shoping disciple would be banned that way i could easily survives against affinity, but this is way better and affinity killed ? not likely i seen lots of affinity decks which had no lands at all !
the land thing will only slow affinity down nothing else ! as for the ravager thing and disciple of the vault, yep this truly shuts it down, not much but just enough for people to think it twice before making an affinity deck ! too bad this isn't going to happen until march 20th ! but hey this means less artifact hates around my playing place ! can't wait till friday to see how people react to that ! maybe ravager will go down in prize as well just like scullclamp did ! |
Without the artifact lands any affinity deck would die to the hate. They would be way to slow to keep up.

Thing is... there is a lot of artifact that can be used as MANA generating for the affinity, i have seen lots of decks that ran 0 lands and were competitives in my local stores !
examples would be... ORNYTHOPTERS PARADISE MANTLE WELDING JAR SPELLBOOK CHROME MOX just try this, run 4 of each and then add 10 island and boom you got yourself all the mana you need to run an affinity deck that can come out truly fast ! but i do agree that affinity will be more then likely never played again ! hey, that's what people asked for no ? i mean if they didn't want it to be banned then they shouldn't have made decks that strong ! :colgate: dang can't wait till this friday for my third FNM ! i got myself a mana leak, that makes only 3 left to get before friday... dang are they hard to get ! if i had the money i would also get myself 4 wrath of gods since my deck runs creature removal ! due to the artifact hate i have placed 4 welding jars in my sideboard that way i can make my proteus survive the second round ! just a question mastaq... what is your favorite colors ? mine are WHITE GREEN and BLUE ! those are the best colors i could have ever played ! thou the red is cool and the black just awesome i figured out that i liked control better and who says control says blue, white or white green ! or even blue green ! so i like these three a lot... if you give me the choiuce in that, blue white are even more then green but not by far ! and you ? tryed to make a blue green deck with my own custom kill and it wasn't doing much so i decided to make it WHITE BLUE cog control !
i put the blue green control on hold for now ! friday night last week was a DRAFT... 12$ and i ended up with junks, believe me i will never get in those ever again ! can't wait till this friday, my proteus deck is ready for some more, added and removed others but in all cases i am missing WRATH OF GOD in my deck and the fact is i guess i will never be able to buy em either thus i guess i'm screwed ! thou i have 2 SOLAR TIDE those wouldn't be enough ! |

currently... ISOCHRON SCEPTER and GHOSTLY PRISON
one helps me kick the butt of my opponents by controlling his play and th eother ables me to stay alive long enough to win the match ! in either cases, i am missing 2 more ghostly prison ! damn, gotta go with a more beautifull lockdown then ISOCHRON / ETHEREAL HAZE ! |
