Well Sony have released a few concepts of the console and it looks awesome.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/media/1233.jpg go to this to see what the handheld can do. click here |
It looks nice....too bad it'll be a million dollars to buy...
Yeah, well i hope not.
Yea that thing looks pretty bitchin'
yeah, sure that... it looks tight, but sony has that problem, it is always costing a lot more then other consoles !
how much costed the PSX when it came out ? how much costed the PS2 when it came out ? seriously, everything they make is costing a lot, know why, because they frigging put everything on marketting and nothing onto the console's themselves ! but yeah that looks nice ! EDIT: i just read everything they have said about it... one thing canbe made public by me... one affirmation that tells that they will not even go close to the NGAGE like they say they will ! you know what that is... the fact that SONY up to now, NEVER were able to make everything they have said to have made for their consoles, it is always missing a few features, tho they will be added later as they say, it is just to make you pay more to play more ! in any case, i doubt them to be able to go over the NOKIA NGAGE ! Edited By SSJKarma on Jan. 24 2004 at 15:43 |
I doubt they'll make it have mobile phone capabilities, but the games r gonna rock, i hope, the UMD thing looks like quite a good idea.
hmm, every1 i know who had got an Ngage said that it was crap!
just so ya know, it isn't that crappy at all, i mean can a handheld who can play splinter cell be crappy !
by looking at what it can play surely the engage is awesome ! it all depends on which games they played ! |
I dont know about yall but im sticking to the cool, and wonderful GameBoy SP.
Yeah i got a gameboy advance and gameboy advance sp but i still want this.
It is supposed to cost somewhere between $299 and $399, estimates say. That is far too much for a handheld system.
I suspect that the numbers that Sony is giving right now is pure hype. Meant to increase interest. A handheld of that size isn't going to be able to have capabilities that, in some ways, dwarf the PS2, and run even with the Dreamcast, AND be battery-effective. Besides, that thing'll never fit in my pocket. Sony thinks that it beat Nintendo once, so they can do it again. The only reason people went to Sony when PSX came out was because it had more memory on the discs, and the discs were less expensive to make. The problem is that cartridges are the natural medium for portable-based games. Discs can skip when portable, and even if they have anti-skip features, it takes up much more battery power, introducing hidden charges. The handhelds have been Nintendo's market for 15 years, and I don't suspect that the PSP will change that. Die-hard Sony fanboys will flock to it like it is crack and they need a fix, but I suspect that those who are Nintendo fans will not be swayed by the PSP announcements. ... oh, and most of the games for N-Gage are poorly made. Not that they all suck, but they are poorly made, with poor programming, lots of glitches, and pathetic frame rate. Perhaps if the system tried to not push itself, it could be better, but then again Sonic-N couldn't even keep sound effects in sync with the action. ... oh, and another thing... Splinter Cell on the N-Gage is a 2-D game, and not nearly as good as it is on the consoles. It is basically a straight port of the GBA Splinter Cell. Edited By Dan Hibiki on Jan. 26 2004 at 13:52 |
So what, if its anything under
-_- Must be nice to have so dang much money. Fact of the matter is, the best-selling handhelds have all been around $100, and I doubt something with that high a price will do well in a Nintendo-controlled market, with them having two extremely well-priced handhelds out now (GBA: $69.99 SP: $99.99).
Yeah i know 300 is a whacky price, but i gotta c if the console is good, and i can always return.
Where do you shop? For the last several years around D.C., the policy has been if you open a console or a game, you own it, and can't return it.
I live in England, the shops here allow returns.

RIGHT ON DAN !
exactly what i said, over th eyears, sony always won the market by comercialing and marketting alot, without anything to back itselfup ! example: THE PLAYSTAION ONE IS BETTER, IT HAS THIS THIS AND THIS... in the nut shell it was even with the N64 in power ! except that sony urged the system so they could have the best sellers. as for the PS2, same deal, the PSX did just came out that sony already had planned to realease PS2, people been like, why byuing DREAMCAST or N64 when the PS2 is coming fast, thing is, people waited 3 years before it actiually came out ! yet they do it again, the PS2 comes out and they already talks about the PS3 ! again, sony is always behind, reguardless of what they do, they are always behind ! another example: PS2 cames out 1 year before it was supposed, to, they had to get the market because the XBOX would own it before they do... so they rushed it.... other example: online playability was waited and delayed for over a year before it was actually released to the public, it took them even over a year to get online ? damn, that was harsh for people, talk about let down ! let's talk programming wise... the PS2 was suppose to be the best console to play with and program with because of its EMOTION PROCESSOR ! yet, it became the worst console to program, it cames second after the SEGA SATURN ! other example of that... even tho the DREAMCAST has the samn POWER as the PS2, the DREAMCAST version of DEAD OR ALIVE 2 is way greater then its counterpart. so again, all sony does is being late on others, all they want is a part of the market which is already out of their reach ! the only HAND HELD that had a chance of competting back then, was the GAME GEAR from SEGA, yet, even tho it worked fine and was awesome... they never tryed to make a new one, so they losed their only chance of getting the market. sony, again, trying to get the market of FANTASY games, tryed making LEGEND OF DRAGOON, which is a great game in itself, but speaking of graphics and the likes... was really behind all other games which were now and for the last 6 months squareless, smoothing polygons was there a while ago, yet they did it like it was in f7 ! so again, sony = always late on others... a few good games, one or two good things here and there, but otherwise always late ! but, i must admit it, they are good in marketting things ! as for the prices, well i saw a friend of mine, so sold SONY that when the PS2 came out he RUSHED and bought it the same day... man, it was 500$ canadian over here ! i ask you the question, who in there right mind would pay for a console that much costing with only one gamepad and one game ? it was insane, yet he bragged about how cool MGS2 was but how stupid was the PS2 to bug that much ! see, hardcore gamers i hate, they don't even have any sens into them they are sold and that's the only thing that makes sony still be in the competition ! oh and by the way... a little humour found on KAZAA... search for this over the web... see how cool it is ! Dreamcast vs. PS2 (very funny) [found via www.FileDonkey.com].mpg its a 26meg file so enjoy it, its very funny to see... DREAMCAST ROCKS !!!! |
I disagree that it is a matter of marketing that made the game-makers jump on board the PSX bandwagon. It was the greater capacity on the disks that allowed them to do more.
PS3 is supposed to be around $499 when it comes out, and if they're still going to use the technology to have it communicate with other Sony technologies, it could cost over $2,000 to fully realize the PS3's capabilities. |
The dreamcats is well outta business u can barely find games on it anymore. The ps2 rocks
but really, why is dreamcast well outta way ?
it is easy to find games cheapos as well ! the dreamcast was completely owned because of the DVD feature which the DC was suppose to get as well. but since it wasn't with it already, it got thrashed, also it got thrashed because it didn't have many game when it cam eout... IE it only had 12 in the US ! but people don'trealise that a console who had just came out, cannot have a hundred games availlables right in the start ! so again, the DREAMCAST is and will always be as good as your PS2. but the sony is way outta leaugue here, the GAMECUBE and XBOX have pushed the limit way over sony's head ! so unless sony wants to make it better for them, they really shouldn't stay behind like they do ! |
The PS2 has good GAMES. The PS2 itself sucks badly. Poorly made, weak system as a whole. The only thing it has are games.
as i said... sony need to go forward a bit and not stay behind with some old technology. if they want to have a chance and not do as sega did recently, they surely will have to outdone themselves.
all consoles have good games. but that's not the console that have praise about it, its the third party developpers ! so i really don't place th egames int he same category as the console itself ! again, i doubt sony will succeed with this PSP machine ! |
The psx is good tho and i think a lot of people buy the ps2, well in my area anyway, the gamecube and xbox are lost.
Edited By alamgir on Jan. 28 2004 at 16:40 |
