since a lot of people seem to be making forums now and getting flamed because of them i've decided to post a few points to help u create a better forum...

1: dont bother using one of the free internet based forums...go to phpbb.com download phpbb (dosent take up much room) find a free host and make your forum on that site.(if u want to see an example of some of the stuff u can do on phpbb click on the link in my sig)
2:dont use exactly the same style as everybody else does cos since most people are using the same boring style.
3: make sure that your forum is actually about something that ppl will like instead of just copying other forums.
and
4:try to get people who will actually stick around join the forum cos there isnt any point in having a forum if nobody goes there

Not really, but MIG, I prefer an Invisionboard over phpBB. They are both very good, but I think phpBB has a little less features. I can install both for anyone, just remember you need a host with the following:

1) PHP
2) MySQL

It is better to have a faster host, the faster the host, the faster the forum :alien: ! I am still looking for a good host myself! A tip of advise.....

Don't choose www.tripod.co.uk: it is way to slow.

Don't choose www.coolfreepages.com: Because the delete your message board for no reason. Hopefully the forums will get better now

2003 i can set up a forumcorrectly aswell, but i have two problems.

1) i cant find a host to support mysql and php (arpart from coolfreepages)
2) my cuteftp ain't connecting, so, i'm buggered really lol

It is slow but sometimes it is fast kindof! I can set up a forum for everyone if they give me the right info, if you trust me. I wont give any of your information to anyone, or I wont use it for myself, I promise! I am not like that. Oh yea, here is an exellent host. www.flatface.net

You get all that you need including:

PHP
MySQL
200MB of space
SSI
And much, much, much, much, much, much, more!

The only problem it that it takes a long time for them to account your account, and you can only get one!!!!!

i suggest geocities for the uploading. abd 2003warrior, can you give me your name for any messengers? i would like you to help me on my forum at InvisionFree. i'm trying to put up a skin but i don't know how to. it never works for me....i don't know why :(

1, you can't use geocities!
2, I don't have any messager!
3, You can't change a skin on invisionfree, only invisionboard

ya.. same here i got a good hoster and everything im paying for it but i uploaded all the files there (html) and i click on the index page but nothing happend its blank
