well, here we are, the new net-code is online, and we have 2 types of people....

1: those who love it, think its WAY better than the old one (i am one of those people)

2: those who H8TE it to death, and want the old net-code back (we will call those "Extreme Lag-Bastards" from now on)

whats the REAL problem here u say? well, its just that, some people have poor connections, others play the people with poor connections, and whoever is left is probably leeching 500 files as the play the game while complaining "all i see is that #### "Lag" symbol in the game, and i CAN'T play like this [insert 40 pages of bitching here].. and another thing, bring back the old code, NOW TMyApp !!!"

...well, i wont do that, but i will fix the problem for all of u

now then, in the next few days, there will be a new option in the game (probably a checkbox called "Extreme Anti-Lag-Mode")) you will check it, and if the other person (the one u challenge) agrees to play in this mode, neither of u will see the "Lag" symbol in the game again... (because the game will basically run on the old net-code, which u Laggers love so much for some reason)

... there, it is the best i can do 4 now... i will hope that this will make people happy, the bitching will stop (or there will be less of it) and we can all just sit there and wait till the 4player mode is here...

isn't that funny..I can always tell when a 56ker is multitasking his connection...its rediculous...you might as well have a cucumber in the wall as your connection, dont use it to do more then one thing at a time. :biggrin:

im a 56ker and i dont have that much problem. since apples last update, i havent had a lag problem that much. i take out the sound/background/low dens./from the option and make my screen small(which makes the lagg 50% better)

i also found out that the smaller your screen is, the less lagg you have while fighting

I am a cable player. I have the new shockwave, i've cleared out my cache countless times, i've tried every possible combination of the low/med/high etc. settings, i have made the screen as small as possible, i've tried different servers, I've tried switching the music off. In short i have tried EVERYTHING! But, i still get lag. How?

Same here i do the same thing as itsounsfair and i get plenty lag!!

well, the new "slow connection" mode is implemented in 0.2e

press the "?" button in the Options menu (Network section) for more info...

Oddly, my 56k is faster than my cable...

I have accsess to a cable which is alot faster (also less lag) than my 56k but wont play anybody becuase it cant find the right IP. I dont know what the IP is and cant get into dos (library restricted access blah, blah blah) is there a way I can get it to auto detect?

well, the game should always auto-detect u'r ip (thats why the filed should be set as "AUTO" in the options menu)

once u connect to any of the chat server, the "AUTO" will turn into u'r real ip

if that ip doesn't look right, u can run "winipcfg" (in windows, just go to "Start" and "Run" and type that whole thing) and find out u'r real ip..
