This idea uses "point spread" in its design.

This will help ya'll to understand "point spread".

Now on to the RPG part of the idea.
I have seen the idea brought up several time over the past year. Shortly after I came up with the point spread system,it stuck me...I figured out a way to convert a players "gaming statistics" into "player attributes".
Simply divide a players wins,point spread,and losses by their total games played. To determine the players power,toughness,and weakness.
win% = power
point spread% = toughness
losses% = weakness

It is actualy more of an overview of the players "current" statistics. However it does add an RPG feel to their username.
As well as allow players to compare each others progress at the game.
Of course it would also spur people to refine their skills and knowledge of the game and how it operates (for them).
The players rank would still be determined by "point spread".
This is actualy a rather "simple" idea that could be expanded upon. A players "total games played" could also be added in,to represent the players "experience points". And could be given special titles for completeing "X" amount of games.
If it could be tied into the player "history". It could also display "how" a player wins their matchs most frequently. I/E: Super,Victory,Cherry,Cheese,Rope,LAG,Timer, what character/helper they most frequently use, etc etc etc.(TMyApp had that idea along time ago)
Well anyways thats my idea on XvsSF RPG....just figured I'd toss it out to ya'll.
So whatcha think?

like i said in the chat i think its a really good idea ...but also i was thinking weather there could be a moves counter to keep track of how many times a person uses a set attack and than incorperate that into your scoring idea

its a good idea but i dont think tmyapp would count all the specials that the ppl use in the game.. that would be 2 much

Coolness! ^-^ I hope they use this idea, and I wish they would implement the special move thing so maybe I could find something to improve on?

good idea, thoo this is a FIGHTING game not an RPG one !
that's pretty much why ALL the other RPG idea's got shoved out of the way !

but it can eventually add a SKILL system to the game itself !
but i really don't see how this can be USEFULL !

knowing their statistics won't do a single thing !

You remind me alot of Selvin...for some odd reason.

Please re-read the topic again.

Hence clarifying the topics "true meaning".
IF the game where to be a true RPG style game. Then the players attributes would have to directly effect the characters they played. I/E: Make the characters faster,strong, limiting the amount of "special moves" they could preform etc etc etc....and thats way to much to get into.

NOTE: Nothing about a video game is "usefull" truth be told.
But....this idea adds more depth to the game.
As well as lets people monitor their own progession,and set personal goals.
The titles of the skills DO NOT have to be RPG orientated.
They could be titled exactly what they monitor.

Power could easily be titled. "Win %"
Toughness could be titled. "Point Spread %"
Weakness could be titled. "Loss %"
Realy no differant than a baseball/football players, personal game statistics.

But no matter what you title them..the public will try to "effect" their attributes totals.

Not a bad Idea mista by the way it will confuse those cheapos.Also it will help some people :biggrin: Now Hopefully this won't create flaming in the future if Added.Go to the game now they fight and carry on about a rank that means nothing.Play by any odds to win and use the same move over and over which we all know by now.This could possible be a solution :biggrin:

Because of my crappy ISP and slow ass computer.
I experience alot of LAG.
Cheapo's that do nothing but optic blast continously. Or jump around alot with Ryu fireballing every other move.
I have no problem defeating. (dont get me wrong I lose to this tactic like everyone else....just not as often) ;)

Like SSJKarma said...this is a fighting game...and the object of the game is to win every match..is it not?
Even if it means being cheap. :D

you see nosoul, i wasn't arguing on this. i was just asking the real meaning of all this because you called it an RPG !

now i understand your point !
like quiet_killer said, this is a great idea as it will get rid of the RANKING system and force people to fight for SKILL not for ranks !

totally i do that some times 2 overcome lag...which is most games ...but bien cheap..on my computer = u dont move so the buildds up and none of the attacks count i find myslef beating even the best people more than 3 times over..*cough* super sonic x.. and they hit me with 2 specials im dead ...WHACK. ???
