ive never really noticed but what importance has the port number got to do with gameplay or anyting else.everyone normaly on 1626 or something but then i see certain individuals who are on port 80 and 31021? plz some explain.
the port number is because some people have to use a certion port to get passed certion things
that makes no sense..
people change ports so that their router will work and they can host(although the router host thing is like 20% success rate)
there a port that u can host when u have a router? if so tell me
usually port 80 works...but like I said 20% success rate
you can try but you'll probably fail so don't try it now I was wondering if its possible to port forwarding
you can foward ports but from what i heard from previous attempts done by other sfo players it doesnt work

more like 0%...trust me i testes on about 20+ routers? the router seems to never pickup on the game when it trys to access the 1626 or any port you set it to on the game for the router to listen to. |

not with a hardware firewall (router) but with a softeware firewall like norton and stuff you can host. |

[color=#32CD32:post_uid9]So howbout if i just delete norton? would it work then?[/color:post_uid9]

sure..it does...i have all norton 2k5 products and non of them "suck" |
I concure though.. Norton isn't half bad..I got this abusive worm on my old comp that always closes the key and system directory everytime i open it up... and McAfee did noffin.. but Norton takes care of p2p wombats pretty well

umm no...norton personal firewall or norton Internet secuirty both let you host in SFO...the only type of firewall that doesn't is a hardware type firewall which is a "router" |
umm nosoul i got port 80 to work just takes a while :D
yea exacly man, i got a router. i got norton.
now i know norton doesn't protect you from everything, so i have backups too. ... THE POINT IS. that i can host cuz norton lets me punch in ports that i want to open. Wahahaha .. hey.. how come i don't see that blue smily you guys are using...  edit:: oh I see...  Edited By DarkKen on 1097215221 |
routers ruin everything
but without them internet would be expensive b/c each com. would have a separte connection |

a port is a place on a circuit that is the point of interface. Its how information is passed from one circuit to another. You can think of them as tiny switches. If port 80 is closed or being used by something else information can't go into that circuit via that route. So another route is needed |
