got a real important q for ALL of you... have u ever seen this:

no no.. not "selving kicking ass"... look @ the ping... not the number, but the color: green

what does it mean ?? many things... (i wont get too technical here) but it may also mean that u'll experience a lot less lag in the game...

this is a brand new "feature" of the net-code (implemented in 0.2p)... so, if you DO see the green-ping, there is someting you can do to help me out

1: if you can, find out if the person is using "old connection mode" (either you can have it "on" or the other person)... if this is the case... it doesn't matter what color is the ping... dont report this game...

2: if however, u are both NOT using "old connection mode" or the "firewall" checkbox in the options menu, do look @ the number... and how smooth/fast the game feels (does it seem like there is less lag ??)

3: if it does, or even if it doesn't, run back here... and report it in this thread (just, dont post info on u'r 60 matches or anyfin crazy like that, 1-3 posts MAX per person) ...

and don't worry... u don't really need to ask the person if they are using old-con mode... i mean, if u play 60 games, and u notice that half of them have green ping, and half of those have a LOT less lag... thats all the info i'm looking for... :biggrin:

btw TMYapp, that isnt selvin kicking ass, thats me kicking his ass:biggrin: also, if you look at my results for the fight youll see under my name that theres a cherry and an S for the special, whats the cherry for?????

i saw that once when i was challenging someone else. I either had the mode on slow connection with high or low compenstation or i didnt set the thing at all. It just appeared for some reason.

TMyApp I have started hosting alot of matches and what i notice is that more and more of them have the green ping. I remember the mode now that i put it in. It was no error correction and high lag compenstation with no slow nor old mode. The green ping does speed up your game like you said. Even when i host a person who is going to put the mode on normal I still find it to be less laggy then yellow ping. My ping ranged from 200-700 on the green ping.

but, "lag compensation", "slow connection mode" and "error correction" do not control the green ping... so, feel free to changes those... :biggrin:

"old connection mode" (which comes on automatically when u select the "firewall" checkbox) does control/effect the green ping, so for best results, it should be kept "off" on both ends (server AND client)...

This gets curiouser and curiouser...

I fought someone today and got a low green ping most of the time (400 - 600) and experienced minimal lag. I hit him, and he actually took damage every time!! I asked him to type in "/fps" in his display, and after some difficulties, it was around 14.000 on his end, and 27.666 on my end... but he was using Wolverine, and I had on Old Connection mode. I thought you said that to use Wolverine perfectly it took 20fps. Dan's head hurts... lack of logic...

I think it is safest to say that the green ping number shows that you could experience less lag, just like TMyApp originally said. We know that Selvin is from Canada and has a cable modem, so what do you have and where are you from, PROfessor? It could explain why the green ping doesn't seem to do anything for Selvin.

hey green ping didnt work for me when i was fighting a wolvie on wolvie it said lost sync

Dan it's becuase Professor lags like #### and even with this new feature it doesn't help much against him and......selvin posted those pic of him showing that hes kicking ur ass and nothing happens to ur ass so u should be the one losing the match pro cause i know selvin is better than u

No green-ping in any of my matches, but my average ping count per game has gone down about 1000. Lag is noticably smaller, good work TMyApp.

but some people aren't gettin the idea of this thread...

if u have one bad game with green ping, that really doesn't matter...

i need an "overall" opinion, not just specific cases...

things like: "30% of my green ping games were better than the yellow ping ones" or "i can't notice any difference after i played 50 games"

ok then with green ping it was much better and faster even though u had lag sometimes yellows ping just sux

Okay, after playing 30 games, 6 of them had Green Pings. Out of those 6 games, 4 of them had little to no lag.

I like the new idea of the green ping, it reduces alot of lag now. Thanks Tmy

Yup seems like the green ping is solving some lag problems.

not with me. yesterday i fought a bunch of fights, and the ping was always green, and i had mad lag most of the time

well, it seems like @least SOME people are having better ping...

sure it's not a solution to all our problems but, it's better than nothing... :biggrin:

This is WAY off topic, but TMyApp, I saw your enemy... A Hacker. It was very funny. The person could type in peoples names, type stuff like a BOT. Unfortunately though, there name nevers shows up in the right side of the screen so, I can't take pics.

This is a topic to discuss the benefits of the green ping.

I never get anything but a green ping. Through the 16 fights I have had since this new coloring, it has been 7 fights for very little lag, 6 fights for some lag, and 3 fights for major hyper-teleporting lag.

yea I think lets get back to the topic.

So what does everyone think of the green ping idea so far?

ok ill say this:
i play the game and dont have times to see the ping color cause i simply dont care about the ping itself, but i must tell...

My connection is always on slow connection mode cause im on a 336 and i dont even think of trying other option what really matter for me is the turbo mode and the normal mode ! normal mode reduce my lag but climb up on the others and turbo bring my lag up and their down...

so in the nutshell, i dont think my oppinion could be of any importance but still recently i played with less lag than before on TURBO mode ! and that is stricly impossible at least before the last update !!!!

so i will say this: tmyapp if this has helped you out about it all then good i am happy to help and continue the good work were all counting on you !!!!

heh, I'm just glad that's there a little fix for lag so far.
