I believe that rules should be much more strict than they are right now. People get away with too many stupid things that would not be allowed in other forums. Make a 3 strike rule, or a minor - major offense scale, or something. Adding more mods would be good, but you would have to make sure that they can be trusted. Nosoul, Nantuko, KKS, and others would be good choices in my opinion, but it is not up to me.

...I only post in places where I feel that I won't be flamed. O_o! So don't delete me due to post count.

Personally, this has become a spam hole, I see too many topics about Character Votes, and who could kick who's butt in a deathmatch. And the flaming, ye god, the flaming is way too much. Hopefully you'll fix that so I'll post more and not feel like I'll be flamed to the ground for just giving my opponion.

.. the problem is (and always has been) with the users themselves...

since the average age of the XvsSF player is around 12, 90% of the people who post on the forum flame/spam...

unless the users change their ways... the only other "solution" is to ban 90% of the active forum members we have now.. which would basically leave us with myself, and the rest of the mods using this board for our own personal "chat"

hehehehe.. thats good.. im not 12

Nantuko Joe 11-03-2002 05:56 PM

First off, you don't know for a fact that the average age of the ppl here is 12 years old. The majority of us are above the age of 15, and some of us are in our low 20s. If the average age of ppl here was 12, then there would be some 5-8 year olds using this forum. I myself didn't learn to type or use the internet until 5th grade, and THAT's about the age 12 group.

I'd have to say that the average age of ppl here is around 15 or 16. That's high-school freshman/sophomore level kids. If kids at that level of maturity can't control their spamming and flaming, then the world is coming to an end.

And you can't leave it up to the users to change their ways. Unless you give them a stricter set of rules or more ppl to carry out and enforce the current rules, the ppl here aren't going to change their ways just for the hell of it. You gotta issue an ultimatum or something

Roll 11-03-2002 06:30 PM

An ultimatum? Wow... you sure know your vocabulary, Nantuko. But, tell me, how will that help? It'll only get people who break it penalized (and the only penalty I know of is banning...). If we're trying to change behavior, we can't just do that. Sure being strict is a good way to stop things just for a while. Although, think of all the new people who'll just come in without reading the rules. There is no way to make them read it, and there is certainly no way we can stop them from making posts, as, like everyone else, they have their own free will. We just have to be patient, and allow Lefty's statement to come to life.

Nantuko Joe... quit taking everything so litteral. TMyApp is trying to keep himself from going insane and exploding on all you (like leftyfb did just recently) by "attempting" to stay in good humor. It's posts like the one above (and NOT your common n00bish posting) that tend to through him over the edge.

First... saying that the average age level is around 12 is just a medaphor for what he sees as the average maturity level in most of the current posts/topics. You arguing against that just makes it look like you're trying to find anything/everything to argue about.

Second... you've made it obviously clear in your previous posts that that you want more mods to take care of this rising problems in the forum (or as leftyfb put it, "pandimonioum"). I'm wondering why you're saying

[quote:post_uid0="Nantuko Joe"]I'd have to say that the average age of ppl here is around 15 or 16. If kids at that level of maturity can't control their spamming and flaming, then the world is coming to an end.[/quote]

Now, according to that, you're saying that 15-16 year olds, the "majority" of the people at this forum, are mature, and in that case, would allude to the fact that there is no problem at all. Which you've clearly said is not the case...

So in that instance, there are only 2 conclusions that you can arrive at:

1. The maturity level of these 15-16 year olds is NOT what you say it is, and they are the ones causing all these crappy posts.

2. They arn't 15-16 year olds, and are closer to the age of 12. And that's the reason they're so immature.

And last point... leftyfb and TMyApp ARE taking the initiative to put an end to this, and get these lazy mods (like me) up off our asses and "get to work". Don't worry... you're really overexagerating the situation and what must be done to stop it... All will be solved.. in time.

No, they can also do what drove physicals_r_scary over the edge: reset his post count. The majority of the nOOb population on this forum spam only to get their post count up. If they break the rules and continue to spam, their post count will get lowered or reset, and they'll either start over again or get the picture and stop spamming

The majority of the members of this forum aren't the problem. Most of the ppl who are here are fine, but it's prolly (i'm gonna guess) about 1/4 or 1/5 of the total members here that are the violators of the rules and are massive spammers/nOObish behavior. It's kind of like that saying "punish everyone for the behavior of A PRECIOUS FEW". The "Precious Few" in this case are the kids that are under the age of 15/16 (age-wise, not maturity-wise). People like ajtimbs, Juggernaut, and stjames are only around the age of 12, and they're the three biggest spammers in here (the main ppl I'm talking about). But I AM correct in saying that the majority of ALL users of this forum are older, and more mature, and the ones taht are causing the problem are physically younger and less mature

We don't need anymore mods on this forum.. The thing we need to do is police these yougins. All that happens around here is rambunctious pre-pubescent brats running around.. I say we all stop all this flameing bullpoop. Where does it get us? NOWHERE!! If I wanted to see this level of stupidity, then I'd go to a mental institution.

Heres my logic.. TMyApp and Leftyfb work thier asses off.. And all a "select few" do is bitch.. I'm surprised TMy has let those few stick around. It clarely states in the rules.. "NO BITCHING".. Is that so hard to comprehend? I think not..

TMy and lefty take out of thier own pockets to make this game run.. You people only say thank you, when you thought the game was gonna die out. So you mean to tell me that you cry only when it's gonna die? Why not just appreciate the game while it's here....

Like I said before we don't need anymore mods... If people didn't go in a thread and say "nice going retard you just spammed".. I admit even I'm guilty of this. But I deduce people only do that to raise thier post count.. And I'm sincere when I say I have only done that to help people.. I could care less about my post count..

And another issue.. I'm quite frankly sick and tired, of people calling 2k warrior a kiss ass... He defends TMy yes... And he has done this countless times... Even before he became a mod.. Stop trashing the guy.. He's one of the most helpful people in this community. He has brought us more informative details.. Than I can remember...

I'm going to finish this post up by saying.. If you ignore the "new people" then they will do 1 of 2 things... 1 being they will change thier behavior... 2 They will just up and leave.. Think about it if you provoke them... Your only going to make things worse.... I've spoken my piece.. nuff said...

plan for improvement

tmyapp: never come to this forum unless for important reasons such as learning about bugs and discussing updates. his precious time should be spent on the game and not small problems like forum moderating.

leftyb: come to the forum occasionally to check up on everything, but mostly converses with tmyapp regarding game and helps tmyapp.

quass/zing79: i have no idea why tmyapp keeps these two mdos around, they do not do anything and i don't believe they should continue to be mods. they are too busy with vgmfusion and do not have the time for this forum.

lordcyris: needs to come to the forum more often and moderate more, i can understand if he has a life, but it couldn't hurt to come to this forum and moderate once a week or somethin.

2000warrior/warmor: both needs to come to the forum a little more often, especially warmor. they should go to the non-xmvssf a little more often and moderate more there.

now to conclude my analysis of this situation, i would suggest tmyapp get rid of zing79 and quass, as they seem to no longer hold interest in moderating this forum. then tmyapp should add 1 or 2 more mods to help warmor and 2000warrior.

so basically what i mean in the end once again is:

we need more active mods, we should get rid of the mods that aren't active enough *cough*Quass/zing79*cough*
