[quote:post_uid0="G_GUNDAM"]lol natakoru but look at the facts. what types of songs make it in the the charts at number 1. either rap and r & b. hhhhhmmm can someone tell me why ??? lol :laughlong:
First off, get my name right. it's "Nantuko", I don't know where you pulled "Natokoru" out of...

And not all rap/r&b songs are #1. There are a HELLUVA lot more Rock songs (rock, as in ALL subcategories of rock) making #1 than rap and r&b. Rap is recycled music at the best, with monotone, boring beats and lyrics so terrible that I think I'd rather listen to the sound of myself taking a ######## than listen to rap. Plus, making rap songs requires little to no talant whatsoever. Rock requires a lot more work, and a lot more talant. It's not the same, repetitive constant beat, but constantly CHANGING beats with guitar and drums. And guitar (bass too) is THE best instrument out there, it requires the most amount skill to play. How many songs consist of only guitar solos and vocals? A lot, because the guitar is the most powerful sounding instrument out there. Do you ever hear drum solos with vocals, and nothing else? No, because by itself, a drumset blows. But guitars are much different. I'd love to see a rapper pick up a guitar and play something, or even carry a tune for 5 seconds without making me want to rip my ears off.

KidKrazyShit 02-12-2003 11:26 AM

I think the only two rappers I've heard that actually sit down, and think if lyrics, is Eminem and DMX.

Every other rapper I've heard sounds pretty much like this "yo what up b? I rape a ho, I bust a cap, I got mad bling bling yo fosho. ya'll can't be touchin mah $hit, I be to hot fo dat. I got platinum teeth I think dat make mah cool...but I actually have low self esstem(sp) and no values  "

Most of Eminem and DMX's songs are about their family, emotions, and problems a.k.a. a rock band.

I mean, look at some off these rappers.

Ludacris- "move btich, get out the way" dubya tee eff is that all about? How much talent does it take to come up with that?
Nelly- "It's getin hot in here, so take off all your clothes" wow....very very talented....pathetic..
Master P-"make'em say ugh" ugh!?!?!? ya gotta be kiddin me...
Jay Z-"Big pimpin, spendin cheese" He shouldn't be aloud to live after that one.
The list goes on and on...

What's up with them always walking around with their hand on their crotch? Is that the new, cool thing to do now a days? Fags...all of them...

AXE 02-12-2003 12:59 PM

This is why i stoped watching VH1 and MTV Thats all they play is Rap. Thats all its abought is Money Hoes and cars Can they sing abought some thing else than ther selves (If you know what i mean) and cars and women?

[quote:post_uid0="KidKrazypoop"]Master P-"make'em say ugh" ugh!?!?!? ya gotta be kiddin me...
Master P? More like Master P.U.! :D
The only time he "makes me say ugh" is when I'm about to barf at listening to his horrible lyrics. :p
(I like to make jokes too)

lol, anywho...
I think that Eminem and DMX are ok. They sing about real things, so I think they are better than all of the rest. I'm still not a big fan of rap, so I'd take SOAD over both of 'em anyday.

well like i said some people understand rap music some dont
but if i may ask can one of you please explain some of these rock songs

chop suey by system of a down
by the way by the red hot chilli peppers
never gonna stop me by rob zombie
and i can think of plenty more.....to me they make no sense whatsoever....
and i do agree that guitars rock but just because a rap artist doesnt play an instrument doesnt mean they cant..
its hard enough trying to make sure your words have rythem.
and if you dont think its hard you try to rap and play a guitar....
its much easier to sing or *scream* like so many other rock stars do while playing a guitar.....trust me i tried them all.

oh and i really cant explain the crouch situation...but i dont think its cool at all.

princevegetam 02-12-2003 02:59 PM

those songs are easy to understand. just look at it from different perspectives.

You wanted to
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
You wanted to
I don't think you trust
In, my, self righteous suicide
I, cry, when angels deserve to die, DIE
This makes no since and plus the name of the song, im always like were they get that from? What does it mean? ???

KidKrazyShit 02-12-2003 04:04 PM

If you knew anything about rock, you'd no SOAD's reputation. They're a funny band. But I bet you won't catch them saying "nigga" in every damn sentence of their lyrics.

MasterX05 02-12-2003 04:12 PM

Someone wanna clean up his post for me? I'm not up for it right now. All I got was the first part, which I'll comment on.

Yes there is something wrong with saying it every sentence. Makes them look like pathetic, uneducated morons.

You're joking, right? I listened to the song ONCE, and I knew what they were saying.

You want to know songs where one can't figure out what the hell they're saying? Tell me that you immediately knew what the hell Outkast was sayin in "Bombs over Bagdad" (they talk faster than the guys at the end of car commercials) and Sean Paul's "Gimme the Light." (all I could understand was something about a massage, I think).

I believe they're talking about abuse in part of it, and how it's often hiden by people that don't want it to be noticed.

What about this, please explain this to me:

In-slum-national, underground
Thunder pounds when I stomp the ground (Woo!)
Like a million elephants with silverback orangutans
You can't stop a train
Who want some? Don't come un-pre-pared
I'll be there, but when I leave there
Better be a household name
Weather man tellin' us it ain't gon' rain
So now we sittin' in a drop-top, soakin wet
In a silk suit, tryin' not to sweat
Hits somersaults without the net
But this'll be the year that we won't forget
One-Nine-Nine-Nine, and brutha anything goes, be whatchu wanna be
Long as you know consequences are given for livin - the fence is
too high to jump in jail
Too low to dig, I might just touch hell - HOT!
Get a life, now they gon' sell
Then I might catch you a spell, look at what came in the mail
A scale and some Arm and Hammer, so grow grid and some baby m

kks its not like its the only thing they say in a song and talk about money cars girls not every rap song is about that.

Selvin 02-13-2003 04:55 AM

True, but I'd have to say 93% of all rap songs have something to do with women, money, and/or cars.

MasterX05 02-13-2003 12:42 PM

who doesnt want money, cars, and girls? It is like the great things in life

Selvin 02-13-2003 12:58 PM

Well, I think that other women wouldn't really need other girls, but that is just the opinion of anybody with a brain.

So money and cars are so great?? Well, I'm sure glad that you're not materialistic like all of the other rappers out there... cough

Nantuko Joe 02-13-2003 01:05 PM

[quote:post_uid0="MasterX05"]who doesnt want money, cars, and girls? It is like the great things in life
They are great things in life. So why do they have to brag about how many women they screw, how many cars they have, and how much money they have? Good for them, but does anyone else care? No.

MasterX05 02-13-2003 02:49 PM

yeah i see what u mean joe its sarting to get pointless but, I cant leave rap alone the game needs me.

I make crazy lyrics to make people laugh, music that U listen when driving and U'll sing along with it...... "The game" needs you? dubya tee eff are you talking about?

Selvin 02-15-2003 01:21 PM

Well, after reading all of the posts from the first page again, I say this:

No genre is truly better than another because everything is open to opinion and personal interpretation. Certain styles of music are for certain types of people. I'd hope that would be expressed in this thread and it has. In this forum it seems as though that the it is pretty even in people who like rap and rock. Unfortunately, people who backed up why they liked their respective genre of music has one-sided...
