[quote:post_uid0="tupac2westsider"]Now Kurt Cobaine comited suicide, just admit it.
That is not true. There is ALOT of theories and evidence/proof showing that Kurt Cobain's whore wife, Courtney Love, killed him.

EYO 02-07-2003 07:39 AM

people....TUPAC aint DEAD........he is still livin for ya who dont know....

Well the courts decided that he commited suicide and closed the case, but if you search the internet you will found out alot of stuff that will probably change your mind.

Nantuko Joe 02-07-2003 09:35 AM

EYO: You're a moron.

asshole: There is substantial evidence that the courts decided to ignore that suggests he was murdered. Some believe it was Courtney, but I don't know. For example, Cobain's suicide note not only had a little of his handwriting, but the majority of it was written in the handwriting of two other people.

I refuse to believe that kind of Info, from the Net!

Selvin 02-07-2003 10:20 AM

Well, considering I've read this stuff in the newspapers and heard it on the radio and thought about it for a LONG time, I do believe the whore did kill him.

tupac2westsider 02-07-2003 02:14 PM

Curt Cobain comited suicide, where is the hard evidence?

Tupac got shot and is dead, where is the hard evidence?

*cough*
Back to the Rock vs Rap thing
*cough*

yes, it is true that rapping does require skill. But it is also true that Rock requires a lot more skill.

Rap
-You mainly rap in one key
-There are only two or three instruments
-The bass plays the same friggin 4 chords the whole freak'n song

Rock
-True rock singers have an immense range(vocals). You never see a rapper like that
-The bassists actually play real/non-redundant tunes
-True guitarists play a lot more than jst power chordes and some play and sing at the same time. Wich is hard to do. I don't think I've ever seen a rapper that plays bass or turntabels or anything while rapping.
-True rock bands' songs are usually more deep . . .

Creed is a prime example of a true Rock band. Listen to their lyrics! MASTER-FREAK'N-PIECES!! The guitarist is amazing, and so is the bassist and drummer. Scott Stapp(singer) has an incredibally wide ranged voice; he doesn't limit himself to one key.

And is it just me, or is there no rap group that harmonises(sp)? Harmonizing is a true art of music, and so far, only (some) rock bands have obtained that art to it's full potential.

Oh, and one thing. Blink 182 is NOT Rock! They are punk-rock/alternative. Linkon Park is also not rock. They are pretty much Rapcore.

Again, it is true that rappers must have a wide vocabulary, but for the wrong reasons . . . kinda. They jsut use it to rhyme with other words, 'cause they can't find anything else. As rock bands use it for a more poetic and deeper sense.

G_GUNDAM 02-07-2003 08:14 PM

razz you are wrong about 1 thing. there are a lot of rapers out there that can sing too. and no im not talkn bout ja rule cause he is a wanksta. (grrrrrrr :angryfire: )

i say that people should take the time to really listen to more rap instead of judging it all wrong.

and there is one more thing. rap has good dancers and good beats to dance to. i mean come on the crip walk is off the chain. i dont see anyone dancing to rock songs.

Razz 02-07-2003 09:07 PM

Each style has their own plusses and minusses. But when it comes down to it, it's all in opinion, not fact. No body else really gives a crappedy about fact. So . . . yeah.

G_GUNDAM 02-07-2003 09:13 PM

tru that razz its all about opinion.

What the!?! He lives!! Sorry about that, but I haven't seen Razz since spring. One thing though, you like Creed?? *shivers*

The main reason why you don't see people dancing in rock videos is because they don't care. At my school the majority of the school dances and unfortuantely I know how to crip walk (seeing so many people doing it has marked it in my head). Really, I don't see someone dancing that entertaining and I find it even less entertaining when it is that seizure thingy. Instead of dancing, they would prefer to:
A) Sing
B) Play their instruments
<s>C) Laugh at the people who dance</s>

I admit this; the guitarist is pretty brilliant. However the lead singer's vocals and song writting ability match those of a 7-year-old.

It's called the harlem shake. Lol i though i was the only one who thought it looked funny.Well at least when some ppl do it.

Selvin 02-08-2003 01:32 PM

No, this isn't the harlem shake. Watch "Gimme the Light" by Sean Paul. That cannot be the harlem shake.

G_GUNDAM 02-08-2003 02:28 PM

sean paul doesnt have the harlem shake in his videos. he does some type of jamacian dancing. i like it. :laughlong:

and all yall gotta agree with me. the best dance move is the crip walk. i can bus a crip walk tight.

SBYRD5 02-08-2003 03:04 PM

The harlem Shake...came from harlem....I think it was really cold there t one time and this guy was break dancing and he did it..some people though it was fly...it spreaded..

Yea then the Dance Group {b]THE HARLEM SHAKERS
Performed with Ruff Ryder Eve then it spreaded like crazy...

Crip-Walk= That was like the hand shake for crip members if you couldn't crip walk right your not a true crip. Then there was the west and eastside wars.Thiwas the signature of the crips.(Now it's a freaking dance...tight one though)

Blood-Walk=The same as the crips they have there signature walk...not as famous as the crip walk because it's harder to do.(Try to moon-walk and do the crip- walk thats the blood walk)

..........

Aero Smith...ROCK YEA!!!!!!!!!!

Blood-Walk is actually better.....

Selvin...I know what you saw...those girls that did that...you where suppose to look at there butts when they do that...not the rest of there ody...it does a special motion.

A matter of a fact the blood-walk is used in "Gimme The Light"

G_GUNDAM 02-09-2003 06:14 PM

yo sybrd if thats the case then i know how the blood walk looks. looks pretty hard but the crip walk looks better.

MasterX05 02-09-2003 07:30 PM

Gangsta homies do yo dance,
c walk, c walk, crip, crip.

Selvin 02-10-2003 08:52 AM

Stick to the subject...

DA_VIPA 02-10-2003 12:41 PM

normally the people who listen to hard rock really listen to it because its the sort of music for people who have a lot of anger within them or stress like people tease/bully them in school thats why grunja's and gothics arent very popular in this country they're probably 3 in my whole school of 2000 students..think of all the $#### they take everyday im suprised one of them hasnt comitted suicide to tell u the truth...kids will we ever grow up?

skate919 02-10-2003 01:08 PM

[quote:post_uid0="Selvin"]Not nessacarily (sp). Rock's popular days were around Nirvana and the Grunge moment. I didn't see chicks dancing up and down in grunge videos and grunge was the thing at the time.
Im assuming you aren't counting the "cheerleaders" in Smells Like Teen Spirit. :D
I think Tupac was talking about the "hair bands" of the 80's.
Anyway,
I like rock better.

I play two instruments, and I just happen to think that rock is a better way of expressing myself. When I'm mad I listen to either metal or some sort of calming rock. When I'm happy I listen to punk, ska, or any good rock song with strong riffs. I like the older stuff too. I'm into all types of music, but what just irks me is some types of rap. Don't get me wrong, some rap is okay, but I cannot stand hearing about "ho's" and "dropping money on the bling" or what not. (skate919 is not very "up on it, yo") :D

Now, some rap is fine, because it expresses inner feelings, but the mainstream stuff is just crap-ola.

Selvin, you are doing a good job keeping this topic in line. Keep it up.

*P.S.*
It seems to me that the rock people back up their opinions more than the rap (excluding tupac and a couple others), I'd like to hear why the people who like rap more choose to.

You realize that goth is a type of rock and there are very few gothic bands and people who support goth. I'd have to say that less than 1% of the rock community is gothic.

lol anyways. Did any of u see Bone Thugs-N-Hamrony new joint called home. Its like what Sbryd said rap can mix with alomst anything. I forgot of the guys name in the song but its a new kind of music. home

Nantuko Joe 02-10-2003 03:27 PM

I also like rock because there aren't as many one-hit-wonders in rock as there are in rap. In rap there seems to be people that come and go, and with the exception of a few, most of them seem to fade away after one or two singles.

I also dislike the fact that just because rappers might be successful, they think they can act, too. dubya tee eff is it with rappers in ########ty movies these days? Ja Rule? DMX? Eminem? None of them can act their ways out of a paper bag.

Also, there appears to be a lot more run-ins with the law with rappers than rockers. Rockers get in trouble for a little bit of drugs (we never hear about rockers getting busted for drugs nowadays) and trashing hotel rooms. Yet it seems like nowadays every rapper there is is getting busted for something. Juvenile (i think) a few weeks ago for possession of cocaine and marijuana. Puffy getting busted for some shootings. R. Kelly for fcuking a 14-year-old, possessing child porn, and possessing "indecent photos." Constant lawsuits and hearings about rappers beating women and shooting people and such. You NEVER hear about ######## like that from rockers. And when was the last time there was a west-coast/east-coast rivalry in rock music? Hell, when was the last time two rockers were killed by supporters of the other's band?

Also, playing instruments takes a WHOLE LOT more talant than hitting the "Demo" key on a keyboard and recording it, or hitting a drum four or five times and repeating it throughout the song.

Also, for some reason, rap is constantly redefining language in the US. What is "word up?" They can't say "what's up?" What is "peace out?" They can't say "later?" What is "phat yo?" They can't say "That's cool?" What is "bling bling?" They can't say "money?" What is "foshizzle my nizzle?" Why does Snoop Dogg talk like a fcuking moron with more "slang" than english? Why can't they use normal english instead of fcuking ebonics? I just don't understand.

coolplayer2K2 02-10-2003 03:32 PM

lol and u will never know. It's a cool thing for them to make somewhat slang new language, the old normal language is getting boring. And dont hate on them casue they wont use normal terms. Slang is a catchy thing in the rap section new words no sayings its like a fad. Whats wrong with Ebonics got a prob if u dont understand it then dont worry about it. $hit go to the projects and buy a hooked on Ebonics kit. ???

G_GUNDAM 02-10-2003 03:52 PM

i aint no rock expert but there are a lot of 1 hit wonder rock bands.

[quote:post_uid0="G_GUNDAM"]i aint no rock expert but there are a lot of 1 hit wonder rock bands.
There aren't as many nowadays in rock as there are in rap.

Also, people forget that Rock consists of many subcategories. There is hard rock, rock'n'roll, heavy metal, speed metal, "black" metal, "nu" metal, classic rock, alternative rock, modern rock, and I believe industrial is also considered rock. What is rap? Hip Hop, and R&B (which is really entirely different sound than classic Rhythm & Blues)

G_GUNDAM 02-10-2003 05:21 PM

but i agree with what this one person said in this forum. rap does go with a lot of other music.

Well then, I'm adding a new word that I got from Nantuko Joe to the slang for rap: dooshnut. :D

So, lemme get this straight, as soon as someone makes up some new word, it is considered "tight" by the rap community??

Well if that is a case, come to my english class, we have tons of prominent and upcoming rap artists.

Yeah right. That just reminds me: at least there are a lot of original rock songs, with maybe a cover of an old song by a newer group. With rap, it seems like they're just biting off of other songs like a million times. Plus, when their current albums/hits get old, most of the time they just make "remixes" of the current songs (like that J-Lo album), and I've heard like four versions of one song, but each version was "performed" by a different rapper.

Selvin 02-11-2003 09:58 AM

Yeah, and also the beats. I notice that more and more rappers and taking beats from the 70s and re-doing. Would it hurt to think and make up your own beats??
