That is leftyfb, and he hasn't been around in a few months.

Forgive me for the spelling error, Dan. However, is he like Zing and LordCyris as mods only on the forum, or does he help out TMyApp with programming the game? (sorry for steering the converstion away from LordCyris.)

Dan Hibiki 03-07-2002 07:18 AM

This is leftyfb's message board that he is letting TMyApp use, if I am not mistaken.

Nantuko Joe 03-07-2002 07:22 AM

I did not know that. I always thought that this was TMy's board. Either way, it would be nice to hear from leftyfb. I've never even seen him post.

leftyfb! You are alive!

ask and ye shall receive. My position on this project is as host for the web pages, the game itself, Big Bertha and the forum. They all reside on my servers.

As for why I haven't been around. Well, that partitally due to all you guys. Because this game is so popular, I have no more bandwidth to myself to even play the game (without lag). The same goes for TMy, he hosts the scores/db server and the ProjectX server.
Also due to personal reasons.

Just know that I AM here, I AM watching and as soon as fate has it, I will be back on a decent connection kickin butt to take my rightful place on the 1st page of the scores :)

leftyfb, two questions:

1. Exactly how much space do these forum files take up right now?

2. How much bandwidth is being used by your servers for goodness sake? I can understand your answer, 'cause I'm in Cisco Networking right now.

Sorry, but I think of stupid questions often, and these two have been nagging at me.

The game requires the use of 2, 28 node alpha clusters on a gigabit backbone connected to an OC8 internet connection.

ok, so maybe not, but it would be nice :)

Well, the forum by itself only takes up less than 40MB at the moment.

The game itself with the web pages only takes about 7.

As for bandwidth, I haven't clocked it or anything, but my connection is only a 128k iDSL. This game has basically taken it down to about a 56k some nights and a 28.8k others.

Nantuko Joe 03-07-2002 12:55 PM

Wow, the game is that small? Only 7MB? And it's cool to finally meet you, lefty.

Dan Hibiki 03-07-2002 03:07 PM

Ahh... thanks, leftyfb. At least with 56k or 28.8k it is possible to use the forums... but the game... that'd be horrific trying to play somebody with 1.544m connections against your 56k you have.
