I don't consider banners to be art at all! Its only art if you drew everything, colored it in, and without using anything digital(which is why all the banners seem to be the same).

And whats with the tittle of this topic... And why are you calling everyone morons? ... acting like you own the forum... pfff
Hey, girl, on my last peice of gfx, i spent 7 hours. and you dare deny me my artistic merit?

How dare you. No one from the hand of Di Vinci HIMSELF can denounce someone like that.

Stay out of things that don't apply to you, girl.

Twiztid Tim 01-01-2005 09:51 PM

VF is teh uber artist ;)

Virtual Fighter 01-01-2005 10:22 PM

And why did they change my topic title.

Whore is not a bad word in the sence of a prostetute. If i say "how not to be a GFX prostetute", that would be alright, wouldn't it?

Zpower 01-01-2005 10:44 PM

Ohh Im just now reading this topic. Guess I was too busy to notice. VF you have a point, honestly this is why I stopped making tags completely. People here including myself at one point only made tags well I made animations and tags ect.. Though after really knowing what I know now about art I find that those programs, or any type of program is useless without basicknowledge of art which includes, shapes, color theory, light and shadow, perspective on and on and on and on... Not just most people here, but what I know now as a artist I see that EVERYONE here not just including tag makers only. Who claims to be a artist needs to really go back to the basics. I've seen even your stuff VF and many other peoples work who lack basicknowledge of color and lighting.
ALSO to all the so called "graphic-artist" out there. Umm please try do other things besides ABSTRACT, VECTORS AND SPLASHES. Try to actually DRAW something instead of letting the PROGRAM control you to your limits. Ha yah well I need to work on all these things aswell so we are ALL in the same BOAT. No one here is better or not capable of learning the technical side of art. Then we can truely see how artistic you are once you know all the technical aspects. but anyways this is just my two cents on the matter.

gameboymaster 01-01-2005 10:47 PM

Wow. He's really got a point there. I'd like to see someone beat that.

No, we all know why you stopped making tags completely.

Zpower 01-01-2005 11:12 PM

Good one VF, but thats getting kinda old dont yah think. Anyways solution to EVERYONES problem on this board who posted graphics.... unistall photoshop... learn the basics of art....then learn the technical side of art including color theory...... then read the photoshop entire manual, then read the photoshop bible which you can buy at ebay. Actually pratice using your own knowledge to form ideas on the canvas.. then post your master piece. I PROMISE if you do this then everyone will be happy. We get to see great work and you get to how self-accomplishment which beats any applause. Anyways yah thats all im going to say TAKE MY ADVICE you'll be glad yah did... Im currently working on step 2 of my own advice lol.. maybe in um.. few years I'll post some real graphical art on this forum. Untill then I'll be in um.. the training hole ...ohhhhh its dark down here :( .. hehe peace

Who are you to tell us about color theory and basic art techniques?

I guess you know what you're talking about, right? Let's hear some of this basic art techniques and color theories you have.

I just want to get better.

Digital art has the exact same rights to be called "art" as traditional art does (drawing, painting etc.) If somebody prefers digital art to traditional, thats entirely acceptable, both styles have the same "rights". And program's dont control limits, theres just as much possible via digital art as there is with traditional, for instance, look at http://alyn.deviantart.com and try to tell me there isn't... Digital art is just as good as Traditional

Zpower 01-01-2005 11:31 PM

Firstly Im no better than you guys/gals at graphics at the moment. However know I know that it takes years of practice to get in remotely good which some here claim to be. Well like I said Im currently learning myself. Though sure whatever you want. Biggest problem I see hear is number # 1 Color theory. Which follows as this... know the and learn the entire Color Wheel...It consist of 3 major colors red, yellow and blue. ... these colors can be combined to form other colors such as...green, orange , and purple. You may say what does this have to with understanding photoshop, painting ect.. Well my friend this is only BASSSSIC stuff that most here well everyone here thats posted hasnt MASTERED. Including myself lol.. anyways thats just art theory fundamentals Im talking about without these you guys will fail at every attempt like I did and still do untill I master the these fundamentals. Also perspective.... learn vanishing points, and most of all EYE LEVELS in your pieces. Also most here well everyone here has no sense of design cluding me... so um thats basically it in nutshell theres billions of things but cant mentiont hem all. Have fun mastering these and I wish you all the best. Though I dont plan to be a graphics artist painting digitally will force me to be labeled as somewhat a graphics artist lol.. so.. If this forum still be alive in 5-6 years from now.. I'll post up some stuff and show that um.. with practice and hardwork you can become professional at art. but by then um.. it wont matter will have nothing to prove.. well to a couple people here who always never liked my stuff or me lol.. thats another story though :suspect:

i agree... art is not something you make with strokes of your hand( and dont think nasty plz )... art is what you can make from what you have at hand... dunt tell me eifel tower made from rice crispies isnt art, or a gingerbread whitehouse (which i made) isnt art... and cmon last time i checked i didnt see any1 trying to go back to the basics to improve... were making banners that would look pleasing to the eye... i dunt care if its warped or out of persepective or whatnot, if the final product is nice an appealing then that deserves good credit... and if it came to drawing or painting by hand... u guys would stand no chance against me... tim stop being such a hater.

Twiztid Tim 01-02-2005 07:51 PM

hey rabbitalien, wanna hear a secret?

Shut The flip up

Virtual Fighter 01-02-2005 08:39 PM

Twiztid Tim 01-02-2005 09:07 PM

rabbitalien 01-02-2005 09:27 PM

Twiztid Tim 01-03-2005 05:17 AM

Why? The secret only applies to you

Angel-Eyes 01-03-2005 01:46 PM

rabbitalien 01-03-2005 09:52 PM

[quote:post_uid0="Twiztid Tim"]Why? The secret only applies to you[/quote]
not it dunt... a secret would only b kept by those sharing/having that secret... and since u got the secret and vf joined in as well... it should b kept by u, cuz its a secret, get it? :plain:

Virtual Fighter 01-04-2005 07:14 PM

que?

I don't know who did it, or even who edited my sig.

It's really pissing me off, too. I sent a nice letter to the mods and admins to tell me who so i can avoid getting into trouble again, but no one responded.

I guess that's the okay to just continue doing what i do.

muahahahaha. :)

Some people are so used to seeing the same thing over and over. Anything else that breaks the barrier of similarity is usually deemed as crap. Trust me I know. I've tried things totally different from the norm and people just tell me that it sucks. Of course, I laugh at most of them because they don't know squat about graphic design and the like. Just shows how people like to pretend that they know what they are doing. I agree with you 100% VF, but there will always be people who criticize uniqueness. It's human nature.
