[quote:post_uid0="Razz"]So many people think of Christians as uptight, religions biggots who never do anything wrong. That's not true. Christianity isn't about religion, it's about knowing Jesus personally. It says in the Bible (I think it's in Luke) that there will be people who've performed great miracles, healed the sick and prophecied in His name, but when they die, God will say, "I never knew you." That, I think, is the scariest verse in the Bible.
The whole, uptight-without-tolerance-for-other-ways-of-life thing isn't Christianity at all. Those people may call themselves Christian, but they don't know what they're talking about. "Christians" just go out and do retarded things "in the name of God," but they've never asked Him for his permission, have they? They just assume they're right and have their way about it. And it's retarded that those are the only type of "Christians" that get to the media. Pisses me off.

Yay for rants.[/quote]
To be more specific...Catholics...
As a black catholic you won't believe how many sterotypes there are...
First, they think we are all strict
Second, some believe we are not strict enough...I mean where does it say we HAVE to dress up to go to church...it's not like I went in there with ripped jeans...the bible says to come as you are...
Third, some say we are all bad christians....uh, can anyone of you say you went to sunday school from 2nd to 10th grade...and actually learned from the bible...
Forth, we have a weird bible....Just because it's not King James version doesn't mean it's weird...It just has more books

There are more but I can't remember.

I don't know about the evil part but I do know that he changed the bible of that time by ripping some books out because he didn't like them which is why we catholics have more books in our bible...

Old testament was written in Hebrew, and the new testament was written in Greek

jerome translated the bible into the latin vulgate (I beleive that is the roman chatholic's bible that they use)

king james appointed a bunch of guys to do translate the Bible from latin to english simply because he wanted to rebel from the roman catholic church for personal gain.

Im pretty sure this is how it went down:

King james divorced his wife, and then he wanted to remarry, but the catholic preists wouldnt do it for him cause he was previoulsy divorced.......so james had his own bible translated, and he founded the anglican church so he could get married......

so even though the purpose was not rightous.....it ended up helping us nowdays

Ironically, that is very true. God has a way of doing things.. and making things that seem to be "bad" and out of place to work for good

yeah, joseph is another prime example of that:

his brothers hated him and sold him into slavery.....yet after a while he became the 2nd in command of the Egyptian empire

thats awesome^

I beleive in God, the Father almighty
creator of heaven and earth
I beleive in Jesus Chris
his only son our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He WILL come again
to judge the livin and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Churuch,
the communion of saints,
the FORGIVENESS OF SINS,
the RESURECTION OF THE BODY
and the life everlasting. Amen

Thank u very much
