cmon Tarkan, ya gotta admit it, MSHvsSF has the best music... :)

and i like MvC as well, but... i wanted to vote for the long shot game, i like the new stuff in MvsC2 except the un-eveness and the crappy music... they should make a new game, one with less characters, has good music, adds alot of new stuff... and the characters are even.

how many does MvsC2 have w/o unlocking, like 56?

i mean, 20 is good enough, if they are all playable....

out of the 56, how many do you actually use?

Never played MSHvSF

MvC2 has 56 characters in the arcade(57 including Abyss)

My teams in MvC2 are:

Magneto(a)/Cable(b)/Sentinel(b)
Strider(a)/doom(b)/Cable(b) or Sentinel(b)
Cyclops(b)/Cable(b)/CapCom(b)
Spiral(b)/Sentinel(b)/Cable(b)

Just for fun teams:

Guile(b)/Ryu(b)/Bison(b)
Ken(b)/Ryu(b)/Akuma(b)(team shoto)

I think MvC1 is the best because MvC2 went off the cheap side! MvC1 has char. like Mega Man(he's a great char.) and Cap. Com.(Captain Commando)

Troy88 08-03-2002 10:05 AM

You're going to accuse MVC2 of being cheap, and then say you like Mega Man? pfft....

I like the vs. games in the following order:
X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Marvel vs. Capcom 1

X-Men vs. Street Fighter is my favorite, for several reasons. With the exception of MVC2, it had the best character line-up, in my opinion (MVC2 had everybody, so you can't go wrong with that). The Shotos were actually worth using in this game, every game since then Capcom has taken steps to cripple them (especially Ryu in MVC1; he sucks).

Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is a close second. The lineup was almost as good as XMvSF, but I still prefer XMvSF. The music was very well done, and Capcom succeeded in eliminating a lot of the infinites from XMvSF. I don't like how they changed Ken (my favorite character). From this game to MVC2, his hadouken no longer travels all the way across the screen. Now it just fizzles out. And, they made his hurricane kick travel up at an angle, making it impossible to link into a combo like you could in XMvSF. This was stupid. Ken already had the superior dragon punch as an anti-air move, and that's basically all this is good for now. You can't start it a ways back from your opponent, because you'll fly right over them. Ryu got a new super, the Shin Shoryuken. This was a nice addition for Ryu. Ken, on the other hand, just got another super move that could only be done at close range, giving him no advantage whatsoever seeing as he already had his Shoryureppa (which was also useless unless done at close range).

I didn't care for Marvel vs. Capcom. Two new features were added to this game, presumably to make it n00ob friendly (translate: cheap). Helpers and variable attacks. Some of the helpers are downright silly, serving virtually no practical purpose whatsoever. But some of the helpers are cheap; tying your opponent up for a good two seconds (sometimes longer). This gives you plenty of time to blast them with a super, while they're busy getting f*cked by Psylocke (kind of like this game, lol). That's not skill. And guess what? Three doses of that, and one of your character's is dead. The damage in that game is insane. Where as XMvSF was about air combos, special moves, and outwitting your opponent, MvC was about linking supers to helpers, and raping your opponent with variable attacks. It's very easy to get lucky at that game.

MvC2, despite having such a huge lineup, was my 2nd least favorite in the series. I don't like how they revamped the controls, and basically eliminated the Medium Punch and Kick buttons. I heard that they more or less did this to make air combos easier for n00obs. If that's the case, then that's all the more reason for me not to like it. Instead of the helpers from MvC, now you can simply call one of your partners out onto the battlefield with the touch of a button, although it is possibe for your partner to recieve damage when they come out (which I like :colgate: ). I don't like how you can build your super meter up as high as you can, this encourages a strategy where you stay at one end of the screen shooting projectiles and avoiding confrontation until you have your super meter maxed out, at which point you start smashing buttons and lightning flashes across the screen, while you do some ridiculous super move that is completely unavoidable unless your opponent blocks. The music on that game is horrible, I cringe every time I hear it. And as Tantum said, there's about 6-8 characters that own, while the rest of them are pathetic.

Tantum 08-03-2002 10:44 AM

man, kens new super is awesome, if you know whats its good for....

COUNTERING ANY TAG MOVE.....

its easy to do if you know how to time it, and it gets all hits, on both of their chars, i've killed all 3 of someones chars at once w/ one of those in MvsC2 heh.

but i do agree, i think his new spin kick sucks ass to a point, but the one that doesnt go up so far is pretty good.

Tantum 08-03-2002 10:54 AM

i only played MvsC2 3 times (3 total plays )
the first time, i lost to someone who played the game all the time, i picked a screwy team, and i didnt get the alternates stuff...

the second game, which was about an hour later, he was still there, i owned his ass twice, then he picked a cheap ass team... spiral, cable, and someone else....

the third game, was a few weeks later, the same guy was there, fighting his friend, and getting owned... (his friend worked at the arcade)

i beat the living #### out of his friend... i got my speed and reaction back, thats why i am good at the arcade... very good reaction time, and very fast hands.

then, he fought me again... and the little bitch ( who was playing for free ) didn't put turbo on, which really isnt right, im on my quarters, he's playing for free, when he's probably not even supposed to be, it should be my option. and the bastard picked, cable, magneto, and someone else... and beat me slightly... he kept doing this lame combo w/ magneto... and i totally suck at normal, instead of turbo.
cause i gotta slow my hands down, and when i do... i don't play nearly as good.

i'm gonna go back soon, try out some new teams....

i play as cyclops / ken / ryu(or akuma)

PARADISE-X 08-03-2002 11:12 AM

I like mvc2 the most because of the variety of characters you get to choose from and the different type of game play the game offers.
