Skill is what matters and not ranking.

Oh, is that so? Is that why you all idolize Nferno666 and d148 so much?!? You people are such hypocrites. You say that rank doesn't matter, yet you worship the ####-killers with 500+ wins who are in the top 10.
How many times have I been in the game servers, and seen people say, "Nferno, fight me! d148, fight me, PLEASE! Just one game!" As soon as someone from the top 10 enters the room, everyone goes nuts, and starts spamming "(fill in the blank of the ####-killer here), let's fight" over and over.
If rank truly didn't matter, then why wouldn't people go nuts like that when other accomplished veterans enter the room, like KKS, 2000warrior, and many others?! I'll tell you why. Because you are all full of sh*t, and you know it. EVERYONE pays attention to the ranks, even the people that claim not to care.
Tarkan, you've made it pretty clear that you don't play for rank, and I respect you for it. However, I can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that there probably WAS a time when you actually did care about rank, and wanted to demonstrate your skill to everyone. You were a nobody just like everyone else at one time, I'm sure. But you've managed to make quite a name for yourself, through your past ranking, your tournament victories, and word of mouth. Now you are perhaps one of the most respected veterans in the game. You will go down as a legend in XMvsSF (online), no doubt. Now, having said all that, why would you care about rank? You have nothing to prove, as you are already considered a legend! I respect the fact that you don't fight for rank (anymore...?), but I find it unfair of you to belittle everyone else for trying to make a name for themselves.
I don't fight for rank, but not because I wouldn't like to be #1. It's simply because I don't have the time, or the patience to fight all day, killing #### after ####, which is essentially what the top ranked people have to do.
I think it's total BS that once you get a high rank, say #10, you get the same amount of points for beating #15 as you would for beating #9999. As the rank system stands now, in order to progress in the ranks quickly once you start get up pretty high, you are almost ENCOURAGED to fight and defeat ####s, as you will no doubt get your measly 10 points more quickly, and have less of a chance of losing. This is very frustrating for the people like myself that would like the rank system to represent the
best in the game, and not the people who
play the most.
You see, there are many, many players in this game. However, only about 200 or so are extremely active, and are competitive. The rest of the players simply either don't play very often, or else they will sit in the chat room, and spam. If you don't believe me, just look at the low, low ranks, and you will see that many of them haven't even played a total of 10 games. Now, out of these 200 people or so that compete for ranks, there is a certain notorious "group" (known as the "####-killers) that rather than fight the other 200 people that are competitive, who will most likely give them the best challenge, they instead challenge the nobodies that rarely ever play or just sit there and spam. Of course, the nobodies are more than happy to fight one of the great legendary "####-killers." Meanwhile, the people that make it a point to fight EVERYONE, vets and ####s alike, lose more frequently (due to an actual
challenge being present), and therefore will not ever be ranked as high as the ####-killers. Does that seem fair?
There is nothing wrong with competition. Competition is fun. I think TMyApp knows this, and that's why he implemented the rank system in the first place. Wanting to have a high rank is no different than wanting to win a match. But there is nothing competitive about fighting non-competitive nobodies all day, just for the sake of having a high rank. And
that is why I want to see the rank system changed.
BTW, I don't want to hear any bitching about the length of this post. If more people put thought into their posts like me, this forum would actually be interesting, and not just filled with spam like it is now.
