not all pentium are bad !
PIII prooved to be worth th ebuy compared to the brand K7 from AMD back then ! but ever since we got over 1.3ghz, intel just got wrong ! the P5 coming up looks awesome tho ! just hope miscorsoft don't do their plan with intel. WINDOWS in CPU ! its just gonna make AAMD the ultimate CPU seller ! don'T think wrong, i'm not AMD nor INTEL... i go with what i have moeny to pay for ! |
if i were to upgrade my pc, i'd be better off buying a new one. it sux that much, that it would cost atleast

its called i worked my ass off over the summer working two jobs
and i got a raise at both places...AND i was employee of the month (*cough burgerking coough*) as for pentium, eh, ive heard that the new p4 (3.06 ghz) is incredible, but AMD has always provided high performance at a low tag...and i like the fact that they arent just trying to see how technically fast the clock is, but rather using alternativ etechnology to overcome clock speed barriers... |
yeah the *newer* p4's are doing good these day but when they came out to fast and basiclly took a step back back when the P3 was only out for not even a year i think...intel just got scared by the athlon since they couldn't beat it..the p3 was a good thing untill the athlon came out...hell even the duron could compete with it head to head which left the celerons way behide...

come on people, im starting to lose faith in humanity--so far my impression is that everyone is using a dell or compaq, built to the demonic specifications of Microsoft... (shouldnt they be called MicroSoft? its a combo of 2 words....)
lets see some custom pc specs... |
my PC is custom VIPER !
if by custom you mean no brand like a whole computer made by COMPAQ or HP, then my PC is nothing more then a CLONE, i chosed and buought my pieces by different companies ! i wouldn't do it any other way ! as for two things, they can't be custom made... i mean INTEL BOARD are necessary to have INTEL CPUs and AMD BOARDS are necessary to have AMD CPUs ! so basically, its more and more difficult to get boards that take all CPUs in them. so its more and more difficult to have computers that aren't all made up form the same company ! has anyone of you heard of the palladium ? basically speaking, its a processor with an INCHIP windows all installed ! the only thing for windows that will be on your HD will be the UPDATES themselves ! in a way that would be awesome, but in a case where people like me change windows a lot of time to try and test the different one wxisting, including LINUX and all others like BEoS, its gonna be hard to work and would only disadvantage us ! anyway... just a saying ! |
run that past me again? the part about finding mobos which support multiple processors?
to my knowledge, there is NO mobo which will support both an Athalon XP and a Pentium4.... oh, and Im now into overclocking...good stuff... |
he probably means dual cpu...
|
nop, i am really talking about those pentium one computers where the motherboard was CONFIGURAABLE to support many brand of CPUs including, CYRIX, INTEL, AMD and another one i don't quite remember !
they were SOCKET 7 ! on it you had the chance to plug a CYRIX CPU up to to 333mhz. ot you could plug in an INTEL CPU up to 233mmx. or you could go with AMD, up to 300mhz (latest boards supported up to 500mhz) see, even Pentium two's with SLOT 1 type CPUs could support multiple brands like that. ever since the P4 and AMDs K7... that' freedom that we had was sred to dust, now a days we have no choice but to choose one brand and go with it, which is bad. cause its becoming hard and harder to customize the PC to your liking ! the many companies are staring to look like APPLE more and more everyday ! APPLE makes computer you can't change at all, you buy it that way and if it broke you're stuck with it or you buy another one ! other companies are coming to this as well ! |
