[quote:post_uid4="princevegetam"]i agree... neogeo versions are much more better. but SS machines are hard to find these days[/quote:post_uid4]
you mean "much better", and if you're having trouble finding the machine then that makes one of us. My problem is that I can barely afford 1 piece of it. ^.^'

princevegetam 10-09-2002 12:58 PM

um... i was actually talking about "arcade" machines. and if you're not "against" roms, then go download the rom and play it on an emulator.

Dan Hibiki 10-09-2002 12:59 PM

I got a better idea... a friend of mine owns a Neo Geo home machine with Samurai Showdown games on it.

Once again, Vegetam, that makes one of us. ^-^' I have played the games, Vegetam. My personal favorite character is Nakoruru's sis, Rimoruru. I like her ice attacks so much.

lol

anyways, here is the continuation of my favourite characters:

Company: SNK
Video Game: Samurai Shodown
Character: Charlotte
My Rating: 9
Reasons: well, i don't usually like western fighters in fighting games, but i'll make an exception on this one. her weapons(rapier) is probrably the first in a fighting game. the SS series needed some variety in fighters and charlotte brought it. her style is very diverse and plus, SHE'S A FEMALE KNIGHT! can't get any more original than that.

Company:SNK
Video Game: Samurai Shodown
Character: Hanzo
My Rating: 10
Reasons: well, since the SS series was so immersed in japanese culture, what's a japanese fighting game without a ninja. this guy is probrably the greatest ninja design in a fighting game. all of his moves, clothing and weapons reinforces his identity. i especially like his metal gauntlets(which no other ninja in a fighting game has, at least, not that i know of). now, contrary to what most ppl believe, galford is not a clone of hanzo. their moves are totally different (galford usually likes to attack from above and use his dog, while hanzo uses projectiles and close range ninjitsu more often), it's just their stance looks the same.

Company: SNK
Video Game: KOF+FF Series
Character: Kim Kap Hwan
My Rating: 9
Reasons: well, this dude is probrably the original tae kwon do fighter in any fighting game. even though i like his son, jae hoon, better he is still the original guy who started using the art of tae kwon do. his moves are the most unique ones since capcom invented the hadoken and shoryuken style.

Company: SNK
Video Game: FF+KOF Series
Character: Mai
My Rating: 9
Reasons: now, i know she's often viewed as a "sex object" but you have to give her credit for being original. i mean, her style of fighting is very original and her weapon(a fan) is pretty original too. plus, her personality really shows through.

Company: Sammy
Video Game: Guilty Gear Series
Character: Baiken
My Rating: 9.5
Reasons: she's a very unique character. rarely do you see a female fighter wear such a traditional kimono and uses a katana to fight. plus, her blind eye and metal arm replacement removes her sex image, still, i find her awfully attractive(she's pretty cute actually, with the pink hair).

oh and dan, i'd have to say that it does seem felicia appears to be a clone of cham cham (Tam Tam's little sister). even though both darkstalkers and SS2 came out in the same year, it still seems more likely that capcom copied snk. cause snk had a reason(a jungle girl for Tam Tam's sister) to make cham cham, but felicia is just this totally new character that came up. besides, cham cham does seem more original(she fights with a boomerrang and has a pet monkey) than felicia. felicia meanwhile, just looks like an older, more sexy version of cham cham which capcom made.

It's that "Naked Felicia" thing all over again... :plain:

princevegetam 10-09-2002 01:47 PM

naked felicia? what are you talking about?

Dan Hibiki 10-09-2002 02:07 PM

Only reason Felicia seems sexy is because she never wears any clothes. I like her personality, and I feel that she is NOT a clone in any way.

princevegetam 10-09-2002 02:22 PM

that's not the only reason, her taunts also show her sexy personality as well.

Dan Hibiki 10-09-2002 03:07 PM

No, her taunts show off her cat-like personality. Her personality is simply a person who has had her dreams come true, and wants to help everybody else get their own dreams to come true. In Darkstalkers she does come across as a bit more sexy, but in Vampire Savior on the focus is on her need to help people.

Taunt: She gets down on all fours and sniffs the ground like a cat.
Battle start: She is toying with a mouse, and then gets up and stretches her arm.
Victory pose 1: She wipes her forehead and catches a glimpse of a mouse. She smiles and leaps after it. She either misses and looks sad on the ground as the mouse jumps on her head, or gets it and looks at it curiously.
Victory pose 2: Felicia sees a butterfly and gets ready to pounce. She either gets it, and smiles at the camera while gently holding the butterfly, or she misses and once again looks sad on the ground.
Victory pose 3: Felicia gets into a cat-like stance and meows. This is typically only seen in MvC2.

Do you think it possible that Capcom and SNK came up with the two characters without spying on each other, and was a coincidence? Tam Tam isn't exactly the spitting image of Felicia, and their appearances more or less dictate where they are from (Felicia's from Las Vegas, the place where dreams come true).
