post 100!

and yeah i agree with gieandfer too, you wouldnt want a small dog protecting you, the dogs dont start out aggressive, they are taught to be, thats like saying a child swears for no reason when he/she was taught the words :suspect:

machine1 07-25-2005 07:46 AM

what about this dog.... dog bites guys face

he's with a cop so im guessing its a police dog. the dog clearly bites the hell outta this guys face..... so are pitbulls the only dogs that should be killed? i think not.

This is a dog whos job is to chase people down and be aggressive. The cop their is responsible for what happened. He should have told the guy to not get too touchy feely with the dog. The reporter put both of his hands on the dogs face, which obviously made the dog panic. One of the dogs training is probably to bit when a criminal is grabbing his face. Once again, it's retarded people whos fault it is.

[quote:post_uid0="gieandfer"]elena: first off, if dogs are trained to attack maybe its for a reason i dont know say, TO PROTECT THEIR OWNERS. u wouldnt think theyd be trained to rob a bank would u? u wouldnt wanna be depending ur life on a small dog to protect u from a rober? old people cant do poop so they get a dog
Uh wow, after I read your post. I was like...dubya tee eff... ??? Your post has no relevance to what I was talking about.
********Sorry if this came off rude************

VF, provided many links of when people had very calm natured dogs that all of a sudden just attack them or others. If they are trained to protect the owners then who the hell will protect the owner when the dog (pit bull) turns? I beleive people have a right to protect themselves but when that protection screws with the protection of others then something should be done. Why not get another kind dog or a security system?

Machine...that dog like you said...seems like a police dog. It is trained to attack ppl. Most pit bulls on the other hand just attack any moving thing on a bad day trained or not.

Elena, VF posted links of just separated attacks. There was no information whether the dog was a calm dog or what. Most of them just said "dog attacks woman here and here". There was no information whether this dog was being hit when it attacked the person or if the child was grabbing food out of its mouth. Do you see what I'm saying?

In a lot of the attacks, the dog is usually some how provoked. As an article that VF posted says "Most attacks occur when the dog is chained up." Think about it. If the dog is chained, it can't hurt you unless you allow it.

I understand what you guys are saying. I absolutely do. Pit bulls are very strong energetic dogs and some have attacked people for no reason. But the POINT IS, if the owner can't handle the dog, or can't train 'em. It is the owners fault. A dog is like a child, as gieandfer said, they learn what you teach them.

If you notice the link Raddaman posted, the good owners trained their pit bulls to use their strength to save lives. They are strong and energetic but it's our responsibility to show them how to use that strength.

Also, people get pit bulls and then allow children to mess with them. For instance, pulling their ears or tails, grabbing food out of their mouths, jumping on them etc. If the owner is retarded enough to allow this and not watch their kid, it is their fault when the pit bull turn and bits the kid. Keep in mind this is a dog, it doesn't know that it's a child bothering it; all it feel is just someone bothering it. They "GRRR" but the kid is still bothering it.

Plus, they are not the only dogs attacking people. And as another article by VF said

uh yea...

anyways like wind said it is the cops fault. all the time when im walking my dog people always ask me "does the dog bite" and all the time when i see dogs the owners sometimes say stuff like " yea dont get too touchy" and stuff. the cop shoulda done that instead of let the idiot molest the dog.

Elena 07-25-2005 04:01 PM

Uh, Wind previously you accused VF of not reading post thoroughly...but I think you are now a victim of your own preaching.

VF, posted many snippets of articles...here are a few...
Quote:

A St. Charles County, Missouri man who owned two pit bull mixes was killed in his home by one or both of them, due to crushing injuries to his neck from dog bites. Neighbors said he loved his dogs and had talked about how well-behaved they were
These dogs attacked their own owners.

Quote:

A 79-year-old Winfield, Kansas woman was hospitalized with a severe dog bite after attempting to feed a pit bull that had been chained and left without water or food. Yes, she probably just should have called animal control. But the dog's treatment speaks to an ongoing problem: there is a sizeable sub-group of pit bull owners - callous and irresponsible - who either like their pits hungry, mean and mad, or who tire of caring for them.
This dog tried to attack and did attack the person trying to feed it.

Quote:

A six-year-old Florida girl underwent surgery to have her left eyelid re-attached after it was bitten off by the pit bull of a family friend on a Mother's Day outing. She had approached the dog carefully, to pet it, when it snapped. The dog's distraught owner said it had never shown aggressive behavior before, and would be destroyed.
And lastly, this girl and I quote "approached the dog carefully, to pet it, when it snapped. The dog's distraught owner said it had never shown aggressive behavior before, and would be destroyed."
