1 - registering by the login name is good, but being able to change the SCREEN NAME would be cool !

ADVANTAGE:
- it would get rid of those "name changing things"
- would be cool to be able to change our name once in a while
- good feature to add on the game

DISADVANTAGE:
- time that tmyapp will take to code it
- probably won't be added
- there is no 3rd disadvantage ! :D

example:
i still log in with SSJKarma + password
but in the option menu i can change the screen name to the one i want in the chat and in the game !



second idea...
REAL SKILL RANKING SYSTEM
you all probably noticed that there is no lag in practice...
so the system will be based on that kind of skill !

in the game there is lag, meaning you never know if you hitted the opponent so it's all based on luck, or if you know how to play with LAG... but in any of those case, that mean that NO SKILL is needed to beat an opponent. in practice there is no LAG so no special LAG training is needed and you alway see the ennemi's position, so this is REAL SKILL.

now the system...
P1+P2 VS Sent1+Sent2 first battle
P1+P2 succed in beating em with a perfect...

P1(life that is left) + P2(life that is left) + time remaining bonus = point for the battle

you can extend by adding bonus for the difficulty level of the sentinels

example:
life bar at maximum is 1000 life points (don't know i'm not the game creator)
P1 is still alive and at max and P2 is too...
1000 + 1000 = 2000
time stopped at 75 (time bonus = time*10)
2000 + 750 = 2750
the fight occured in first battle (easy level, no bonus awarded)
final result = 2750

so the score of the opponent is 2750 !

some will say that this is a top10 things, they are rights but it is personnal and no one can alter it except you, so other people can still fight but will be able to ACCURATELY find BEST players...

ADVANTAGE:
- REAL SKILL appears, people will know who is best !
- this system is good (my oppinion)
- this system erase LAG from the equation
- people will learn to fight for fun, not ranks

DISADVANTAGE
- the TOP-SCORE will be of no use after that except for keeping info about the players
- there will be no more reason for lots of people to fight each other

those are my idea's.
don't flame or anything, i just tryed to find a way to reveal REAL SKILLED fighters !
this is all i can think of right now, go ahead and give your oppinion about my idea's !

Hey i like that name thing...sounds cool, and the ranking system is alright..i really dont care...i fight for the fun of it anyways...we do need a new ranking system..ur idea would fix the main problems we have now with points and rank..

It's your idea, keep it. I'd do anything to see less people bitch about the topscores, and the "highscores" topic I made seem to confusing for anyone to follow... :biggrin:


Just some notes about both of the ideas though:

There's a few more reasons NOT to be able to change your screen name...
#3: Even though you'd still log in through your normal SN, if anyone can change their name it'd make it REAL easy to "frame" what people say/do in the chat (you could NEVER trust the screen shots again).
#4: When people start acting up and TMy or a Mod wants to kick/ban them, they'd have to do an IP search EVERY time instead of the ole' "/kick name" or whatever they've got in there.
#5: If people start using the same name (constantly) then it'd be hard to tell who's who. You might remember experiences with two or more of someone who supposedly "left" but their name remains and when they come back in it's still there (due to lag). With a changeable name several people could come in under the SN "SSJKarma" and it'd be almost impossible to tell which one's which (especially if a Mod wanted to manually-kick one of 'em).

I don't know, but if that's ever implimented you can plan on your screenshots from the game to start being a whole lot less trust worthy.


On the "high scores" idea:

I love the idea of taking lag-related bitchin' and ####-killing techniques out of the ranking method. Just something I might note is that what you've devised is very basic, and that'd mean lots of people would score near-same highscores almost constantly. Putting combos, supers used, "cheap shot" points deducted, helper used, etc. sorts of things would make the scores much more interesting/fun to fight for.

But, like everything, there's a downside...
You've already noted that people would quit fighting for the top-scores as much, as well as considerably stop playing each other in-game frequently. Basically, the ranks system is about the only reason ANYONE fights/has fought for extended periods of time in this game. Turning this into an AI based game instead of a vs. game is something I'm certain TMy doesn't want (after all, that IS the point of it being an online vs game).

As long as this idea takes causes people to fight in vs. AI instead of vs. each other, I doubt there's much hope for it.

Here's an idea for that: Make it something constant (that never gets reset, like the topscores do). That'll make it a way to measure the skills of everyone who has ever played, and the top-scores would measure who's the "best" of the current players.


Anyways, just my thoughts on your original ideas.

exactly shinjuko !

the only way to take out lag and the ####-killers right now is by using the PRACTICE mode... but it all solve the big problems, finding the REAL SKILL ! but it also puts an another problem in, the ONLINE part. people will sure want to defeat those BEST PLAYERs. but fighting with lag will just make them look weak ! everyone does look like that in this game !

we could still try the other system viper made, but it will still get the same problem. REAL SKILL won't be there ! i know i can beat lots of people with sentinel and still get kicked to hell with ryu, but the fact is i would get more butts with ryu on a real game then with sentinel... i kick butt by randomly pushes button and hoping i touch the opponent !

it is always the same problem here !
if lag is always there why is some games like quake 3 arena or counter-strike have lot less lag than this game ? i don't know what caused lag in all that cause i don't program in flash. but tmyapp would have to work it out by the end of this game, and i don't mean the demo but when the game will all be finished with !

once lag will be out of the equation, the game will become more intense and the ####-killers and those lucky person will not exist anymore ! till then, all we can hope for his getting less lag update-by-update...
