I think when you are selecting a character a timer should be on the menu, Telling you how much time is left until the computer select the character you are on.
thats not a bad idea, but then i guess you could always just work it out for yourself, thats what i've managed to do in recent time, and adjust to it so yeah

I think its a good idea. So you dont get caught assuming you have more time to choose than you really do.

even tho when the player is taking long to select the char and when he doesnt move it could b server connection lost or the opponent is busy but if the timer ran out that wuld b good so we dont have to have server connection lost all the time...

15 seconds thats crazy... we could just have 5 but seriously it would be a good idea to have a timer. (it happens to me alot)

15 secs is way too long. i say just like 5-7 secs. and a timer showing how much time is left.

i think we should show it but with 10 seconds exactly no more nor less

i still think 10 secs is too long. There's only 10 characters to choose from (not counting onslaught). If there were like 20 or so (which won't happen yet) then maybe. Being the fact that there's a VARIETY of characters to choose from. Until then, I say lots of time isn't needed.

How about this... all you losers out there complaining about being forced to pick a wrong character because you were waiting to see who your opponent picks should stop caring so much about a rediculous online game. When the character select screen comes up, pick who you want, it takes 2 seconds (a gross exaggeration).

the man is right. Alot fo people wait for their opponent(s) to pick first. It wastes their time and yours. So when you wait too long and get a bad person. You use it as an excuse.
If you do it, know the consequences of what could happen. If it happens, and you get the wrong person, then you screwed yourself over. No one else.
So just don't do it. This game is about trying to beat other people using characters YOU want, not by which character will work better against your opponents' charcter.

exactly i think we should have like a 4 second timer considering if a person wants a specific helper and their character so no advantage will be allowed

If you don't play sfo that much it isn't a big deal for you. If you don't like the game, i wonder why you at this forum.
Anyways i want to see who my opponent is picking them so i can counter that character with some one strong agisnt that character.
For example My oponent picks "sentinal" then i can counter with "ken".

I don't think there's a way to satisfy ALL players (old and new). It's just a desicion TMy has to make.

yes, we do have a timer. The thign is, the timer doesn't count in with the timer. It will give you 3 secs approx.
We're discussing if we should have a timer counting how long o pick a character.

You completely missed the messege of my post. Your game plan starts with stacking the odds before the fight even begins, which is rather cheap if you ask me (actually it doesn't matter if you ask me, it's still cheap). Having a timer would only create a greater opportunity for people to get an unfair advantage by "countering" the opponents character. Having an unseen timer, like have now, encourages the selection of preferred characters rather than strategic choices. The only time you would want to have any kind of character strategy is in a clan battle and/or tournament when you know who your opponent likes to use.

hmm....
That is a positive point about this whole thing. It helps against people who do pick quick, as well as those who like to try and "counter" what the opponent. I admit, i do that. But only to people I either haven't or don't remember fighting. Since i don't remember their fighting style. But anyway, you did make you point rather clear, so clsing this topic would be a good idea.

That still happened in sfo,Even with out a timer (showing) people do it. All i am saying put a timer that shows how much time is left so you don't get caught with a character you don't want.

and I'm saying, for the third time i might add, that you shouldn't be waiting to pick your character at all. Therefore, you shouldn't have a problem with being "caught" with the wrong character.
Which part of this is so hard to understand?

Well this can be a new feature to the game, Plus maybe your unsure who to be and just browsing around. well the clock would be a good feature, and i do wait and see who my opponet is going to pick to counter them.
This is a good stragy.

He's right. Especially when it comes to eople who you haven't fought/don't trust will fight fair. So, it would help for that. Your point is true haolys. Though we have to think about every, as well as the not so good.

Just take the timer off if ya ask me! *ya i know im back.......* but with it being off it may have some "problems" but the timer is just a nuesense *however its spelled Oo* so it is pretty useless unless you count it as a threat saying "if you dont hurry up ill give you *and your tag team partner* ryu to play as!". So please, please, please! take it off! *dosnt sound right huh? lol*

That does sound reasinable. But think about it. If the timer is off, and ppl "wait" for their opponent to pick someone so they can pick a "countering" character. BUT, take into consideration that WHAT IF your opponent waits for you to pick someone for the same reasons you do?
Then what? We're here to play a fighting game, not play "The Waiting Game".
Think about it......

we should have it up to 5 seconds just incase a person wants a specific helper and if they're character is all the way up and the opponent can't have an advantage over you
