frames per second.

Just type in /fps during in a game, and you'll see a number appear, with a few more digits at the end(the fraction/decimal number).

If you have below 13, then your game will go pretty slow(slow meaning you can't get off your moves effectively, and other stuff.)

ok, since tarkanX didn't explained it with the long answer, it doesn't tell you anything !

long answer to that question... i'll try to be as basic as i can !

F = frames (images generated by the computer)
P = Per (no need to described)
S = Second (still no need to described have i ?)

basically, it means the number of images your computer can show you in one second !
ok, one thing to know is this...
FPS = MACHINE based lag ! (which is generated by the machine)
LAG = INTERNET generated ! (which is the time, the data sent by your computer takes to travel back and forth on the networl ! (internet))

MACHINE LAG is mostly what users experiences the most and is also, the only lag you can reduce !
INTERNET LAG is something only no one will ever be able to reduce as it is not generated by one machine but by all machines on which the data has passed thru to get to your computer ! (not gonna tell anymore on this has it is very advanced in computer terms that it is not explainable here !)

FPS ISSUES...
they are generated by your computer.
those parts exactly causes it to happen...
1 - the video card
2 - the memory (RAM)
3 - the CPU
4 - The MODEM

if the video card is not strong enought to relay and CALCULATE all her operation that the CPU gives it, then you will experience shoppy imges on screen ! which is what is called FRAMES SKIPPING. FRAMES SKIPPING is actually when the screen show you one images then when it is suppose to show you the next one. it skips it and sho you the thid one instead !

the RAM and the CPU will do the same if not fast enough in processing the information given to them. put the video card problem here to a very slow CPU and some very LOW RAM and you got yourself a very LOW FPS which means a very big SKIPPING PROBLEM !

that my dears, is FPS ISSUES !
the modem is what sends and receives the data to the internet !
if you got a PHONE MODEM, then you can only send a very lmited amount of data at the same time, if you overshot that point, then your modem will block, and the data sending process will be delayed which can ocasionnaly boost the FPS ISSUEs. that's mainly why CABLE MODEM are way better PHONE MODEM, cause they can send and receive a lot more data then phone modems !

conclusion...
the better the computer you have, the less you'll have FRAME SKIPPINGS, the less FRAME SKIPPING you have, the smother will be the animations and the actions on screen !

so, when TMYAPP say he tested it on an AMD K6/2 500mhz... don,t play the game under that, cause lag will not be your only concerne !

hope this helped ya understand the whole concept !
see ya !
