Well I'v got a story mine is real not saying the rest is not.
well when I was younger I growed up an bad place called "RaleighGardens". When I was Younger I lost Almost every fight because I was often jumped or just over powered. Then came the day that changed me forever... My friend and I were walking when the nieghborhood gang saw us and thought it would be funny to let one of there dogs loose on us. It was a Pit Bull about 75 pounds. (I was only 9 at the time) So when they let the dog run after us they didn't train it very well to stop an they treated there dogs pourly by not feed them. My friend fell and just when I ran back for him the pit had already clung to its neck and if you had a pit before you know must pits don't let go.I tried to help him but I was to weak to pull the dog off him so I ran Like a coward. The next day I came to there house to find.
That by the time help got there it was to late. The poeple all wondered who was there with him. I was a shamed to say I was there for the fact that I was toweak to help.After the next two weeks we moved away. we moved to a quit place in WakeForest.(private) I was angry at my self for about 3 years I think. Until I was looking through a newspaper one day an read an ade about an Martial Arts School. I told my parents and I've been training and studing ever since, and I plan to never be weak again....

But then I started practiceing and when the same jerk came around (a couple of years later think I was 11 he'd moved and come back) and let his dog on me I tricked the dog into chaseing a cat (couldn't think of anything else) then the owner got mad and tried to kick my @$$ but well I kept blocking and then I tried to punch him and he only doged by a few inches then I kicked him in the gutt and he freaked and ran off screaming "it's some kind of monster! RUN!" And then he moved away again. Basic moral: Bullys and jerks always get what they deserve.

Have any of you ever seen UFC "extreme fighting?" Ya know, no holds-barred, banned in several countries, outlawed at one time, and violent as f*ck? If you did, I think your perception on "great fighting" might change a bit. I must say, I think some of you take anime too seriously, and you've probably seen one too many Van Damme movies. There is no "supreme martial-arts warrior."

First of all, with all due respect princevegetam, you are dead wrong about being weak if you don't know martial arts. I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen in those "no holds-barred" UFC fights. In UFC there are no rules, so in my opinion, it is the closest thing to a "street fight" you could ever watch on your VCR or DVD player. The truth is, the grappler types are generally the toughest contenders. Why? Because being able to do backflips and fancy kicks doesn't mean anything when you're on your back being pinned down by a 240 pound man. That's what the "grappler types" are trained to do, get you on the ground at all costs; and believe me, they're good at it. Sure, martial artists are excellent fighters at a distance. As long as they can keep that distance, they have a good chance at winning. But if one of those "grappler types" manages to get in close, all the martial arts training in the world won't save them. Once they have you on the ground, strength is most definitely superior to speed. What they'll do is, they'll tackle their opponent by the legs (despite their size, most of them are pretty quick), get them in a submission hold, and then bash their skull to a bloody pulp until they either forfeit or are unconscious. This isn't a video game where the move is performed and then the opponent is somehow magically thrown out of it at some point at a safe distance. No. Once they have you in one of those submission holds, it's all over. Cheap fighting strategy? Perhaps. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't work. I've seen many "martial arts experts" lose in that very manner. Besides, in a real street fight, there's no such thing as "dirty." You do what works.

Now, that's not to say that martial artists are total weaklings. I don't mean to imply that at all. But I think you need to give strength and size it's due credit. One of those "grappler-types" from UFC would rip Jean Claude Van Damme a new asshole. I used to think that the martial artists were superior myself, until I saw one of those UFC videos. Watch Ken Shamrock fight sometime and you'll see what I mean.


As far as not being able to defeat an opponent in a few minutes, I'm going to have to disagree with you there, too (sorry :( ). Have you ever been kicked in the head full force? Because in a real fight where you're actually trying to hurt your opponent (such as a UFC fight) and you aren't wearing any kind of protective head gear, the fight's pretty much over when that happens. You can cause permanent damage if you hit your opponent hard enough. Getting kicked in the skull is no joke. If you're still moving after a blow like that (which is unlikely), chances are you'll be too dazed to prevent any further attacks. I will admit, the martial artists have the advantage in this scenario, because they are trained to deal with immense pain. But the average person is more than likely done for.

And if one or both of the fighters happens to be a "grappler type," those fights don't usually last very long, either. Tackle, submission hold, repeated blows to the face (full force). One minute, tops. I saw this big sumo in one of those fights trapped in a submission hold, and the guy kept punching him in the side of the head until he cried. I couldn't believe it. Blood was pouring out of his ear and everything.

I agree with you about ZeroEna getting carried away with the ego, however. In real life, one person doesn't win against six. This isn't a Bruce Lee movie where they all stand in a line and take turns trying to kick your ass, no, they'll all get in there at once. I don't care how good you are, you can't defend from all sides.

If any of you are interested in UFC Extreme Fighting, I feel obligated to warn you ahead of time of the graphic violence. It's downright gruesome (blood, bones being broken, and in a few cases, even death), and it's all 100% real. It got banned from several countries for a reason.

Actually, the fights that happen to ZeroEna happen to me a lot too. Eventually, you learn their style, and find a way to defend. "My" gang encircles me and tries to trap me everytime, which they do, but there's this one kid (their boss) and all I have to do is place a well aimed split kick (a split used as a kick in the air) and he's out, along with the other guy (his older brother @_@) and then I run like hell. But there's this one guy on a bike, with a bat, and he always misses with the bat, and he ends up falling. So they pretty much beat themselves up. All I have to do is do the split kick and run. No they didn't learn to defend it because I kick at different times (face, stomach, the *). And what Troy said is true. In fights, nothing is called dirty, cheap, or unfair. Although, fighting is stupid, and I would rather avoid it altogether. But in their case I can't. So I'm doing what I can, whether it's going to the mall with my friends (who squeal when a guy stares at them funny, and there are a lot of guys like that, and at which point, they tell me to beat him up, another fight starts, and so on a so forth), or going shopping (too many theives, and they aren't even the hobo's). By the way, did anyone else notice that everyone on this earth is becoming a little bit more tense by the day?

I just noticed this, and I am able to post because I am a strong girl. I don't whine about the pains that happen, because it just makes it worse. Besides, I wasn't hurt so badly. My leg was broken, yeah, but my wrist is in a cast, because my parents wanted an extra precaution, since my wrist also hurt. Although, it was just stiff. Boy, if you think my parents are sympathetic at all, then you're totally wrong. I am fine now, though. My leg is healed, my wrist is a bit stiff, but it's gonna be fine, and my parents are still giving me angry looks. *sigh* the torture never ends, no matter where I go.... and sorry for double posting.... *skates away slowly and sadly*

You think you got it bad Roll? If anything happens to me like I get a black eye or or sprain my ancle they blame me and I lose basicly everything. and then never let me hear the end of it. Heck my medical record is going on it's 2rd page from fighting. Just glad it's not the scholl year anymore don't have to fight as much. Only problem is the odds are worse because most of my friends go to others states for the summer. So basicly its me and just one friend against 10 or 12 there prety easy to beat though all they do is throw punches so all I have to do is block and trip them. My frend can fight knida like the matrix and knows a little Karate. So basicly the odds are good for half the summer till he goes too and I'm alone. :( (stands hearing the wind blow by....) then it's basicly me against the whole damn world. tHose gangs have a little respect though they'll fight me one at a time at least when they feel like it. Other wize I'm useing a trash can lid as a wepon against knives. actual you'd be suprised what you can do with a lid. As long as it's not aluminum. Sorry I'm just trying to make you feel better you could have it as bad as me... But as long as I know I have some one to come back I'll never give up. (Walks off slowly hair covering face)

im not here to brag but im 5'9 and about 200lbs. and i have an insane threshhold for pain. ive been through fights all my life and its not funny. im one of those "grappler" types and when i bring you to the floor its all over. no joke........... me and my bro were fighting i was holding back on him and i still broke his arm.and im not proud of what i did. but all im saying i that if a "grappler" brings a martial arts user to the floor there screwed. all i have to do is get you in a choke hold apply pressure and knock you out,or snap your neck. im not a violent person so i wouldnt do this unless EXTREMELY provoked.

Oh prince yes you can break Blocks it's a science formula really using more than the mass in your arm to crush blocks,but your hold body is plenty to break blocks.(Oh your right about the cement I did till a lie I was trying to get attention.) ???But I can break 3 stone blocks...

Boxers are trained to fight other boxers, not grapplers. Same with the martial artists. It's rather interesting to see two martial artists go at it in a UFC fight, because they are lighting fast and they'll block punches and kicks like crazy. When you are fighting someone of the same fighting discipline as yourself, the one that's more experienced usually has the advantage. But that's what makes fighting the grappler types so difficult---you can be quite skilled at your respective fighting discipline, but how the hell do you deal with someone that wants to wrestle, and not trade punches and/or kicks? Let's take a martial arts master as an example. Let's say he's built like Bruce Lee, and he's lightening fast. He'll block your kicks, and counter your punches. But what's he going to do when a 240-300 pound man tackles his legs? He might get a punch or kick in before he is taken to the ground, but then what? The grappler type now has the advantage, simply because of his sheer size and weight. The grappler might pay for doing it, but in the end, the smaller man is still going down. There are other kinds of submission holds besides choke holds, so the grappler doesn't even really have to go for the neck. He can simply get him in one of those leg locks, and apply pressure (this is extremely painful) until the opponent taps out. I saw one fight were this dude was trapped in one of those, and he refused to tap out, and the other guy kept putting more and more pressure on his leg until it snapped.

Now, boxers are generally larger than the martial artists, so size and weight isn't necessarily as much of an issue. But I'm sticking to my guns. Boxers are trained to box, not grapple. In a boxing match, the boxer would probably win. But let me put it like this. In boxing, there are rules. In UFC, there are not. In the end, the grappler will most likely win, because the boxer simply isn't trained on how to get out of submission holds (not that there really is a way out of them).

You also have to realize that these grapplers don't just do nothing but submission holds. Take Ken Shamrock for example. He'll start off trading punches and kicks, you know, to make you focus on blocking the next blow. But then when you least expect it, your legs are taken out from under you, and you're trapped in some ridiculous submission hold in which there's virtually no way out of. What's really painful is when they get their opponent on the ground, get them in a choke hold, and punch them in the face repeatedly. Not only can you not breathe, but your face is getting bloodied relentlessly.

In my opinion, the only way to truly defeat a grappler (regardless of your fighting discipline) is to have additional training on how to get out of submission holds. But as I said before, there isn't a hell of a lot you can do once you're trapped in one. Rent UFC #7 if you don't believe me.

There is one fighter that I've seen in UFC that is a master of getting out of submission holds. His name is Royce Gracie. This man is truly amazing. He seems to be able to get out of anything. He's a little guy, too. You wouldn't think much of him just by looking at him, but his ability to get out of submission holds truly gives him an advantage over the competition.

Asshole, you say you don't think it's that easy to get someone in a submission hold while standing, but you have to consider that these grapplers are trained to do just that. Grappling is a discipline in it's own league. Plus, you have to consider that boxing is a close-range fighting style. How many boxing matches have you seen where the two fighters are hugged right up against each other? If you do that in UFC, you're dead.
