I'd prefer a batch of Sakura to Roses. While roses are lovely, and come in many colors, each rose comes with it's own special meaning. That either proves that there had to be a lot of thought involved, if they choose the right one for the occasion, or that they didn't really think as to what the flower would mean when they bought them. I'd rather not complicate someone with that, and it's just difficult to say to someone that a dark rose does not signify love and friendship.
..On the other hand, Sakura are really hard to come by, unless you are in Japan. You'd have to get the actual tree to get the flower; and who can argue with a tree of beautiful, imported flowers?

the answer is so obvious but some can still a mistake.
i think the social thinking is that rose is the representation of love of a bf to a gf. (keep in mind it's about bf and gf)Esp red rose, the color of the heart so it's like a boy giving his heart to his gf. how romantic :p and in some places 99 roses mean his love to you lasts forever.even more romantic :p
if you boyfrd actaully gives you a sakura you would actaully be pleased?
but this is about the love he's giving. if he gives you a sakura, it would be like giving your mom rose and carnation to your gf. what would they think of you? your mom wuld think you really need help cuz you have oedipus complex sydro, and your gf would think that you only think of the love relationship as a family relationship and treat her as a mom.thats kinda funny and embarrassing wouldn't it :p
sakura is rare but if it's about rarity then your bf should get you a dinosaur
beside, sakura is a spring flower which mean childish.
have you seen real live sakura before? maybe you can explain how pretty it is.
by the way, who is that person is your banner? did you make it?

I'd be surprised and happy, but mostly surprised. That's because the only Sakura tree in this town is in my room. ^-^;
So he either had to sneak in sometime and chop a bit without my noticing, or he found a way to get some on his own. Either way, I'd be proud.
but this is about the love he's giving. if he gives you a sakura, it would be like giving your mom rose and carnation to your gf. what would they think of you? your mom wuld think you really need help cuz you have oedipus complex sydro, and your gf would think that you only think of the love relationship as a family relationship and treat her as a mom.thats kinda funny and embarrassing wouldn't it
What kind of logic is that? That's not at all what it would be like. Getting some Sakura from a man would be a love-tying gift, not like a rose you would give to a mother or a carnation to a friend (or girlfriend, whatever you meant). It's not embarressing at all. That's like calling a public display of affection, such as a kiss, embarressing.
sakura is rare but if it's about rarity then your bf should get you a dinosaur
beside, sakura is a spring flower which mean childish.
It's not about the rarity. It's about the love and thought behind it. Anyone can go out and purchase a rose from any flowershop. I would know, I work in one.
Also, a spring flower does NOT mean childish. It changes the meaning per flower. Sakura means Cherry Blossom. A Cherry Blossom, which is pink/white/reddish in color (depending on the moment of bloom, the time after it had bloomed, etc.) means Passion, dreams, and Yakusoku in the language of the japanese flower.
have you seen real live sakura before? maybe you can explain how pretty it is.
I just explained this up above. It's very beautiful to have... no rose has ever taken its place, at least not within my heart. I don't think anyone could make a mistake in choosing what flowers and things they'd love to get. This is preference... not which is more popular. Love is sacred. It should never depend on such fickle things as which one is more usual, or what's more seen by society, or howbig it is, or how special, etc. What matters is the thought.
If my lover gave me a mechanical pencil, I would not even use one lead. I would treasure it forever.
by the way, who is that person is your banner? did you make it?
The girl(s) in my Banner is Nakoruru, and the Furry man is a Coyote from the Trickster stories of the Indian Tribes as drawn by Brian Waer. And I did make the banner.
Anyone who can figure out the true meaning of the words in any of my banners, is truly blessed, and so is the person who will be with them shortly afterward...

"What kind of logic is that?"
the logic is based on society and social norms( i also learned this in psychology) most ppl will not do what is concern different. this is called ethnomethodology-- the study of the common sense knowledge that ppl use to understand the stiuations in which they find themselves. ethnomethodology examine existing patterns of convetional behavior in order to uncover ppl's background expectancies--that's their shared interpretation of objects and events. for example:
A: how are u?
B: how am i in regard to what ? my heatlh, my finances.my school work, my peace ofmind, my......
A: (red in the face and suddenly out of control) Look! I was just trying to be polite. frankly, i don't give a damn how u r..
in this encounter, the acquaintance expected the student to use conventional behavior in answering the question. by acting unconverntionally, the student violated background expenctaancies and effectively "sabotages" the interacation
( this it from the book"sociology in our time" by Diana kendall)
this is just the everyday norm of society. obviously there are except to everything. like you roll who enjoys sakura (or anyting that has to do with sakura) you don't mind recieving sakura from your bf but most girl might expect to recieve roses. i guess u just have to get to know the person 1st.
y did you pick Nakoruru and not sakura as your banner? y do you like sakura so much?

Not all people conform to the norms that people set, it is only natural for someone not to have the same views or norms.... even if it isn't normal to some people that is what makes each person unique.
.... It is a hard choice... it would depend on the relationship...of the flowers forms and colors can signify the situation of the relationship.... because no matter howbeautiful a rose is it still has its thorns..., as love has its ups and downs... or a red rose can mean any number of things true love, rebirth, redemption, even 'in rose' or in latin sub-rosa...... meaning a hidden or secret love... Just as sakura can mean a fresh begining, the ending, or the devotion to love to persevere and flourish... it depends on the persons interpretation of it suppose..... in all honesty I would give a sakura..... because to me it signifies that with each ending comes a begining...... and with that begining comes hope... and the will to contnue on.... just as they only bloom for a time then cease... they will bloom once again.... just as love does....

Books, however, and *ologies as well, are all based up with facts that could have been found in one random place. I don't expect anyone at all to understand this, but books and ologies are all based on the fact that people want to write down thoughts (simple or critical), legends, but mostly things based off of experiences.
this is just the everyday norm of society. obviously there are except to everything. like you roll who enjoys sakura (or anyting that has to do with sakura) you don't mind recieving sakura from your bf but most girl might expect to recieve roses. i guess u just have to get to know the person 1st.
The fact is, if you don't know the person and you're their girlfriend/boyfriend, then you really can't consider it a loving relationship. Secrets galore rest within the love that breaks the tenderness.
y did you pick Nakoruru and not sakura as your banner? y do you like sakura so much?
I picked Nako because it made sense at this point. She had the type of temperament that the creators wanted her to have: Loving, pure, but sad because of herself. It fit in with my meaning.
I like Sakura the flower for a hidden reason that exists between me and my long gone Grandmother and great Grandfather. I like the character because she represents everything I think I would like to be: determined, strong, and not caring as to who thinks I will fail in the end. Instead, Sakura brushes everything off, and lives her life as she wants to; she lives it like a dream.

I do have Sakura in my room, and I take care of it by watering it, though now that I have the perpetual stream, I don't need to do it. Also, allowing it to have sun helps. They are natural and wild in Japan. However, it isn't as difficult as people make it out to be to get them. If you go out to your local Home Depot, they will willingly order one for you, from Japan, who knows where. They're just native to Japan, I don't know if they've migrated from there.
And, no. Contrary to popular belief, I am not Japanese. I just speak/sing the language.
I have a feeling someone will ask about the tree being smack dab in my room, so I'm hoping someone can explain about the garden for me!

Sakura's because its different from the normality and its somewhat prettier then a rose with its many thorns
A rose without thorns means friendship. A rose with thorns partains to defiance. Choose your rose wisely.
you sound like a really deep person, how did you get to this level?do you read alot?
Some things are just best left hidden in the passage of time. I did nothing terrible or outrageous to get to where I am; however, the event that transpired are too much for me to want to remember. Let us leave it at that.
so you r fluent in japanese. did you learn it in school or did you study by yourself. you r so good. you speak two diff languages. when did you start.
I started when I was 9 years old, among other things. However, I studied on my own, though mostly picking up words on subbed anime shows that I had downloaded, or by looking up words on the internet. Everything else came by a process of figuring how to combine the words in the correct way. And remember, though I speak two languages, it does not mean that I can speak them perfectly. All things have their imperfections, somewhere.

so the reason you started studing japanese is b.c u wanted to read comic?
but since you know japanese do you plan to get a job related to the field?

No, I did not study japanese to read the manga's. Rather, I can barely read any of the 'ana's that are out there. ^^; I can only speak it.
And, no, I do not plan to get a job related to the field. Speaking in Japanese tends to be so fun and colorful. If I took up a job with that, suddenly, the colors would fade; you know?

thx for explaining but i thnk a lot of ppl might already know these basic things and y r you giving us japanese examples?
Believe it or not, most people don't even know what Gomennasai means; for that matter, they barely know what Sayonara means either.
And the other alphabet is Fuurigana. ^-^;
Roll Point outs:
Konnichiwa = "Hello!"
good evening: kon ban wa cc "Bonsowaru" is more technical. ^-^
bye= itterashi cc Or you could just say Adios(u), or Adyu (Adieu), or Bai (bye) would be just as nice...... See also "Ja ne"!
what is your name: onamae wa nan desuka
^^
To save time, you can lose the nan-desuka and just say "Onamae wa".
...and that's all I'm doing. There isn't enough coldness today for me to concentrate on the misspellings, and easier/more casual uses of Katakana...Watch your uses, because they're probably not going to be speaking to royalty anytime soon...

You'd have to get the actual tree to get the flower; and who can argue with a tree of beautiful, imported flowers?
ill give my girl a rose cuz they my favorit :D
