Times has changed since i last played this game i acnt remember how long ago it was maybe a month and a half, i was playing the i could back then as i managed to get a place of top 20 and hold it for 2 weeks.
LAGGGGGG drew me away after stress i keeping my place i decided let the chips fall where they may and i left the community till i came back about an hour ago from this post.
Times have changed as i noticed there is this new recorder. i had to try this out, read the intructions which was pretty obvious to do and played my first and longest match ever, LAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG was even worse than i left and i couldnt even pull off any supers
rarly i did of course i recorded this laggy and werid match as 4 rounds were played making me win without any supers and bodys without torso falling me where i jumped and punch marks still on the screen until i couldnt c what i was doing. when i watched my match things got worse werid things started to happen all the bugs during the match was multiplied by an X factor of 4. though i did play another game without the recorder and with and it was similar.
my fear are to stay in hibernation again till cyclops comes and hopefully (not by a long shot) lagg may have improved.
incase anyone wonders where this recorded match went it was lost as i exported it making my machine crash and having to restart.

Well, having the game recorder on increses the ocurrences of lag.(I am 90% sure of that)

well that is YOUR opinion Onslaught...
and if you took your opinions that were actually based on fact, and wrote them on a piece of toilet paper I wouldn't even have enough tp to wipe my ass.
don't be so sure its the recorder OK...just because lag occurs when a new feature comes in, doesn't mean its the feature that's causing the lag.

True... super jump limitations should counter much of the lag effects that we get right now. But I wonder why there is generally more lag anyways?
Dan shrugs.
Only TMyApp knows...

i don't know, Zing. Ever since the recorder came around, there's been more lag than i've ever seen. i've seen so much lag, that two rounds are over before i even see the word "Fight!" on the screen. i'm going to have to agree with Onslaught

Just because lag increased when the recorder came out doesn't mean that it is the recorder. TMyApp could have made general changes in the program's structure or what commands are used, in addition to the recorder. I feel it isn't the recorder that's causing the lag.

good point, dan. i also noticed that the helpers don't come anymore when you try to use them while doing a super hadoken, and regular hadokens are now nullified by supers, as opposed to a few months ago, where normals would travel through the supers and hit the user. so you're probably right

Like i said before lag and free comparison but i do have a problem with some lag but dont complain about it. We will see whos the best player when all the characters come out and when TMyApp eventually ends the lag situation. The promise land is soon ladies and gentlemen soon!

Bottom line
THE RECORDER CAUSES LAG
Don't argue, I have the facts to prove it.

Yeah, I am proving my self to be an idiot lately. Talk before I think, I do.
Anyway the game won't come out very soon! I t wiil take like another two-three years to get all the characters and maybe decrasign the lag problem will take even more!

wow, the all-knowing Onslaught....

TMy, question...
isnt there a way to just dump the shockwave interface, and just expand the original program into a multiplayer online version? i mean, it seems like that would be alot easier to do, if possible...

TMyApp is staying away from ROMs, Tantum. ROMs were never part of his original plan. Wouldn't it be illegal to port a ROM file into a multi-player online version, anyways? Copyright laws, you know...
Nantuko Joe
02-03-2002, 12:10 PM
yeah. it wouldn't be a good thing if TMyApp was locked away...
TMyApp
02-03-2002, 02:01 PM
Tantum: no it would not
we can't just "dump" shockwave and go with something else
we are talking about taking a 100 meg game, and brining it down to just a few megs, streamed, and accessed by ANYONE on ANY operating system without ANY installation...
this game has always been in shockwave, and it will always be in shockwave...
but i can tell you this, it will NOT take 3 years to complete this projectx... something will happen b4 that...
ooooh. Was that cryptive? Was it you know something? Or are you just pessimistic? Do you think it will ever get finished? Did that have any hidden meaning at all? Am i being paranoid?
Tantum
02-03-2002, 08:09 PM
TMy, perhaps if it wasnt streaming, if it was a download... it would run smoother, and faster, and with less lag...?
Nantuko Joe
02-04-2002, 06:08 AM
Then wouldnt' there have to be differnt versions for people with differnt speed modems? It would cause too much confusion
TMyApp

Tantum: no
i am so confused. this is like looking at german.

I understand it, so I don't know why you don't.
Zing79
02-05-2002, 12:46 AM
getting back to the point of this topic...you guys do realize that for every ONE thing you SEE, 20 other changes occur behind the scenes in the game with every new version?
so like i said...DO NOT assume that a new feature that you KNOW is there is whats causing the problem.
Because for every one thing you see, 20 more new things are going on that you have no clue of.
Selvin
02-05-2002, 03:41 AM
Well Zing79 I would be naive (sp) to think you would say all of this 20 things, but I think you could say 5???
Nantuko Joe
02-05-2002, 09:00 AM
No offense Selvin, but lay off them a little. TMy is the one that brought us the game, after all. He's trying his best to make the game as good as it can get, but he can do it only at his own speed
Joe flinches, hoping Selvin doesn't smack him or kick him out of Drunken Smashers

I wonder if lag-less will ever be something we will see. It isnt something TMy will be able to make go away by himself either.
He has obviously done alot in the way of trying to make the lag more manageable, but there are limitations as to what the shockwave interface will allow you to do and then throw in all the different types of connections and you got a real mess.
I believe we'll start seeing better lag issues not when TMy does something about it, but when macromedia improves the shockwave interface and when high speed connections are available to those without it.
But thats my opinion
Nantuko Joe
02-07-2002, 09:08 AM
TMyApp already announced that there will be a lagless version, albeit eventually
